I'm really surprised at the wardrobe thread in rufflechat where most people are saying 1-5 main pieces is small and anything over 10-20 is large.

Everyone commenting must be new. Having only 1-5 main pieces is barely a wardrobe in my opinion. That's pretty much beginner level. I think <20 is small. Then maybe 60+ is large. Or am I just too wrapped up in lolita to understand reality anymore?

New US-based second-hand lolita store? Insta mentions something about formerly selling on lace market. I’m interested to see what the prices will be. If it’s the seller who I think it is, I’ve bought from them before. It was a tiny bit pricier than I would normally pay (like $20-$40) but it was readily available and they were super easy to deal with. And it wasn’t scalping prices, just a little tiny bit more expensive than what I could’ve gotten it for if I had spent months searching or waiting. But we shall see! Definitely looks to be mainly pastel sweet at this point. If I’m honest I thought about doing this. If your work sends you to Japan often or if you have close friends or family there, loading up on a ton of secondhand stuff from the shops in various cities there and selling here, you would probably be close in price to what it costs to buy from closet child or Alice girl. Don’t want this to descend into a fight about scalpers, but who is interested in this new store?

I don't hate her but some of her claimed handmade stuff just looks like taobao and xianyu resold (the apron with the little puffballs in it and all, unless she used sewing skills to copy the xianyu style ones and make her own with domestic materials cheaper).

If she is just remaking similar styled items and charging typical handmade prices that isn't awful and I much prefer it to the reselling secondhand aspect. I always rather someone use their own creativity for profit rather than just mess around on the market, and if the products are good its more sustainable for her long term.

I didn’t get that reaction from her, but I’ve never sent her a message asking about a dress. I’ve only purchased and then paid the PayPal request. It’s weird how different people can I have totally different responses from the same person. It is a little unprofessional because it implies that whatever is going on in her personal life is leaking out into her “business”. Hopefully with her own store people with issues will find it easier to get resolution or to get money back via PayPal. There’s nothing worse than having to file a PayPal claim for a damaged item from LM and PayPal just not getting lace market or not understanding the listings and where to find the TOS and just the general culture of lolita second hand. PayPal doesn’t seem to understand that these aren’t just secondhand clothes, they’re collectibles and while small damage would be fine if it was just any other dress, on a collectible item it’s a big deal and warrants a refund or a return. I’ve had dresses that were sun faded in streaks that the seller didn’t mention but because the seller said it was secondhand item which may show signs of wear, PayPal didn’t have my back

A plastic one just sounds like it'd break in a washing machine.

There's some ETC pieces that are about 50-55cm, which is more consistent with normal sizing in Japan. It makes sense, because ETC is not a strictly lolita brand and caters a lot to the normie market. Some older JetJ pieces are in the 53cm range as well.

Interestingly, looking at lolibrary, the smallest I could find for AP was 60cm waist back in the early 2000s, and even then most releases were 64+ and many had shirring. Their current releases are also running at about 62-64+, but they have a lot more shirring nowadays to fit the 60-80cm range. So at least for their skirts, the sizes haven't gone up quite so dramatically as gulls claim.

And BtssB has a lot of recent releases that have a larger min waist, 68cm or 70+.

>> No.10501987

>>10501966
>>10501930

I honestly wish brands gave more detailed measurements than just bust and waist. The biggest change in AP sizing is actually their shoulder straps, which changes the length of the dress, which in turn changes how the dress sits on you.

Baby is another culprit, the older dresses may have very wide measurements but the length is usually for petite girls, and their shirring isn't the stretchiest. It's really one brand I advise anyone who isn't small and petite to be wary of, even when the measurements look like they'd "stretch" quite often it just looks like shit.

Are you in the US anon? They told me they had the series in stock in-store and not on their website. Maybe you can email them if you want that specific one if they have it? (The only thing I know for sure isn't in stock are the little dresses for the kumya pochettes, which was what I was looking for)

And I believe the jewelry just had a restock the other day if you want those too?

Also, I have almost everything of that series in pink and the usakumya jewelry and am absolutely in love with it! It's soft and the fabric is very gliterry!

Absolutely not interested and I hope this shitty trend dies. I can't stand that other western secondhand reseller store. There's a difference between these and places like Closet Child. CC buys stuff from lolitas who know they are reselling to a store for a profit. These companies just lurk the same sales we all do and snatch up items to resell tonus once again with a higher price tag. Basically secondhand scalpers....

If I'm selling my pieces I would prefer them to be bought by individual lolitas that want that particular piece and are excited about receiving it and wearing it. I don't care if they will resell it later on, but at least that item brings joy to that lolita in the moment. I don't want my stuff being bought by gross companies like this just to be resold to that same lolita for $50-100 more. Not to mention it shits up the pricing for everyone. They get theirs but fuck the whole lolita resale market.

Western resellers are just dumb. I get western firsthand sales like kuroshiro and stuff being a little pricey if for some reason you need to go in person to the shop to try on brand and all but it's being sold new, not fucking up the secondhand market and is just another option for people that doesn't involve worrying about international shipping or communicating with shop staff who may not be strong English speakers. The only people opening up these secondhand resale shops in the west are basically known LM scalpers reselling taobao pretending its handmade and upcharging on cheap brand they snapped up a little faster either via SS themselves or a friend abroad.

The only replica I've ever seen of a dress that I own the original for is Little Bears Cafe and the replica was so obviously the wrong fabric and texture and colors off that I can't imagine it blending well with another piece but maybe for others the fabric is close enough that if it's done in an inconspicuous area of a piece like making the straps longer or only on the sides rather than front center if re-cutting the bodice to make it fit a bigger bust, etc. would it be possible? It would be an interesting exercise for most common pieces or even just decent practice for making adjustments to brand without having to waste a real brand piece if you got it cheap.

I own multiple colorways in the same cut of prints I really like. Mostly pastel toy prints; I tend to buy the pink and lavender colorways, and for berry prints the red and pink colorways. Some dresses are just really enjoyable when styled with different color palettes.

I have all the colorways of AP Loyal Rosette. The quality on the dress is amazing and I find the different color ways lend themselves to be coorded very differently, and not just different color palettes. Like the brown is effectively one color so I coord it more the way I’d coord a solid. And the blue always lends itself well to sailor themes, while the green is great for Christmas and regal type coords because something about that bright green really pops. The red is great for darker coords with but also eye-catching graphic coords with lots of black and white patterns. But basically it’s the quality. Every time I’ve tried to expand my collection to include other AP plaid or rosette prints they’re always worse quality so I sold it and turned around and got another colorway of LR. I have a lot of these.

There's an old IW dress which I bought in person at their store, I was surprised that looked darn good on me, so I ended up hunting down the other two colourways. It's not a popular print and nobody would recognise it, it just looks darn good, so of course I got it in all the colourways.

I've tried to replicate that with a btssb dress but it's more popular than the IW one, so I only own the btssb dress in navy, black and brown. I really wanted another black so I don't have to worry about wearing down that colour.

I have multiples of some pony prints, usually because the second-favorite colourway came up for sale before my favorite colourway did, and then they look kind of cute together so I never sold the second favorite.

I have also gotten duplicate IW dress in random lucky packs, so far none in the same cut/colourway that I already bought, and I already like them so I kept both.

And then....there's Chocolate Rosette, of which I somehow own in 5 colourways. I only ever wanted the green, but it wasn't available in the first re-release MTO, so I bought pink (I don't know why). Then there was a special set in mint and the SS I contacted said it was probably impossible (but she still managed to get it, so I bought it). Then there was another re-release with the green included and you bet I bought it. Then for some reason AP did a special set of it and since CNY was coming up I bought the red. Then my friend remarked that red was really bright and difficult to wear and for some reason or another I ended up with the brown colourway too (red and brown both turned out to be the most often worn colourways lmao). This isn't even my dream print (except the green), I should just get my feelings sorted and sell off the extras at some point.

Then another color came up with all the detachable pieces, which I could also use with the first color I bought, so I bought the second one for that reason. I did a qtip test on an apple on the print and some pink came away. I'm not sure if it's safe to wash, even by hand.
For now, I put it in a dryel bag at least to freshen it up. (it wasn't stinky at all)
Has anyone washed it themselves or is this a dry clean only dress?

I know how to handwash, I do with most of my pieces.
I also know theres some things (especially older red ap pieces) that you can only dry clean because they bleed like hell even in cold water.
I'm specifically asking if my precious things is dry clean only from other people who own it. Theres too much vibrant red thats rubbing off on the qtip next to whites and yellows for me to just chuck it in a bucket of cold water right off the bat.

Moreso, a lot of comms are overflowing with transmen (who still wear makeup and dresses) and nonbinaries because apparently if you don’t enjoy conforming to sexist female stereotypes 100% of the time it means you’re not a woman.

I kind of have difficulty believing it's bots. Would it have to evolve some AI to realise which dresses were desirable or does it just buy up all the A-rank dresses or it's linked to a mini database ranked by desirability or it just tries to put random fugly items in the cart or...?

At least bots buying from AP webshop is believable, you know ahead of time what will go up and there's an obvious profit to be scalped later, but Closet Child.... idk, seems a bit high-effort just for some randomised secondhand stuff.

They may have it look for items using a preexisting list and setting parameters. Using something like lolibrary, you could make a decent catalog of things for a bot to look for. It may be why some items that aren't on databases sit around a little longer. There's a scalper on Y! auctions that often resells items that are on closet child for just a minute, so I wouldn't be surprised some people use scripts.
Also, I've see around 30+ very cheap (2000 yen or less) Qutie Frash items get bought in about a minute...and that seems a little...fast.
