I’m getting really burnt out from a friend and I feel like I might be guilty of gatekeeping as well. They showed interest in lolita a while ago, and would always talk to me about it. I enjoyed our conversations for the most part until I realized they weren’t seriously interested. This would have been fine if they had just been honest, and I wouldn’t have gone through extensive lengths to coord build with them and stuff.
It’s not about the fact that the outfits have all screamed “baby’s first coord” with no improvement, it’s about the reason why they started:

Clout, revenge, and to be 3edgy5me.

We were having a conversation about our goals, and they said: “I want to become mega famous on Instagram and then post lewds in lolita so I can make all those prissy bitches squirm.”

After that I started avoiding our lolita conversations. We still talk about other stuff since we game together, but whenever they bring up lolita, I either go through it quickly or change the subject. I know it should be none of my business what someone does with their own clothes, but I don’t want to do anything to aid or encourage it.

I got my second brand dress in the mail today - and it fits! It's my fourth dress in total. Also included was a beautiful bow to go with my other brand dress.

It's a bit tight around the chest, but easily wearable when I'm wearing a smaller bra. I'm so excited to get accessories for it now - it'd be perfect for autumn with a beret!

I thought it was the funniest shit because people thought emjay was the one doing it. different names for different funposts. I wouldn’t use any of them for discord or vidya tho.

As primarily a cosplayer I’ve only appreciated lolita from the periphery but never took the jump. Said fuck it I’m going to find that dress that inspired my love for the fashion. Within minutes of finally tracking down the print and brand of the dress, it pops up on the second hand market at a good price. Shits gotta be fate so I bought it because this year has been shit and I deserve it. Now I’m putting together my first coord and it feels good.
