Hey i am just recently started browsing here and i need some tips and just general knowledge on cons.

ive never been to one and i honestly find them kinda weird and i am not super fond of the types of people that come there, but my girlfriend is super into it and wants to cosplay and dress in all these ways and its super cute but i dont know how to go about it.

so how do you act at cons, whats is it like, is it truly as smelly as the rumors and stuff like that.

we've talked about cosplaying as psycho and tiny tina from borderlands 2 as we played it together and she liked it quite a bit i am also quite a bit taller than her so it would fit but how do you make those kinda costumes?

If this is your attitude going in, you're going to ruin the experience for your girlfriend. Talk to her and ask her for her opinion so you can see what she sees in the experience. Also, you've never been to a con so you're working off assumption. Go with an open mind and make your own opinions.

Like a normal human being. People can be more friendly and talkative or want to hang out with you, but otherwise it's absolutely the same as any other place. Like any event, there are going to be people who are a dense in the head, don't know social cues, or are creeps. And there are going to be stinky fuckers but they're usually segregated to game rooms or specific panels. It's not like a Smash Tournament where stink is expected. It's abnormal at cons too.

You're not going to like my answer, but google it. That's a 50 page answer and you need to help yourself before we can help you. Youtube is also a great resource for info about buying/making.

she already knows about this and i am more than willing to change my mind, its just that past experiences with the type that goes to cons hasnt been too great so yea i am more than happy to be wrong

I got a good laff from the thread so i'll bite if it's a bait post. Basically, there's a set amount of stereotypes about people cosplaying certain characters. Deadpool cosplayers are obnoxious and never funny, for example, and tina fits in there as well.

There's a lot of almost-mentally-ill people in cons (a lot of NEETs that can't function in normal society), along with certain incredibly autismo cliques (ie. MHA and Danganronpa, obnoxious fanbase full of middleschool fujos). It's a big barrier and it's almost distressing when you first go, but it's w/e after you get used to dealing with those types of people. There are a decent amount of normal people you can talk with, and you'll see what type of person they are from the first minute of conversing with them, so it's really evident then. CGL is actually tame compared to what you'll see at cons. You really have to channel your inner autism for it.

Cons are there for several things; meeting other people that like your series, buying merch (almost never worth it since it's overpriced or garbage selection), cosplaying and meeting other cosplayers and goofing off with them (best part IMO), going to panels (very hit or miss, usually miss but some are bangers. 99% of "industry panels" are "DUBBED BOX SET COMING OUT SOON!" which are lame as fuck, but sometimes there's concerts or cool "director discusses art direction and style" style events), and people watching. A lot of really cool cosplayers show up so it's nice to see what people dress up as.

As for cosplaying, just buy some random shit off aliexpress if you'll be a casual about it, it'll work just fine. Cosplaying is omegafun so definitely do it.

Since you and your gf are going to cosplay expect people to walk up to you and ask for pics. Just strike a pose and be friendly. If you guys see a cosplay that looks neat the etiquette thing to do is to ask them if they’re cool with you taking their picS first otherwise it might come off as a creepshot.

Only problem I ever had with this was in the artist ally. Hot day with a bunch of ppl crowded in a small space.

generally you stick with the group you come with so it’s not like you run into others too much. You might get some random interaction that would be awkward since you’re going to cosplay but it’s not going to be that bad.

Just plan ahead and see what panels/events you wanna go to and get there a bit earlier because lines can be a bit long.
