when lolibrary lists the "full length" of a bracelet is it only the colorful part or does it include the full length of the gold chain part at the end (for bracelets like pic related). My wrists are pretty small and lolibrary is listing the full length of a bracelet I want as 19cm which would fall straight off if that was the length of only the colorful part.

Hi anon! I have this bracelet and the beaded part is only about 17cm. My wrists are 14.5 ~ 15 cm and when I clasp it to the shortest possible "link," it doesn't fall off my wrists because the circumference of the beads kind of help take up the extra space. I hope this helps!

Does AP use cool toned pinks exclusively? Every single piece of clothing I've seen irl from them past the early 2000s has been. Is there anything with more of a MM or IW tone?

In the past I've always gotten messages from sellers within 12 hours, and I've always messaged buys within 3-4. But one time it took me a day and a half to contact the buyer because I didn't see the email, so I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to message them following up on the sale.

>> No.10425583

Have you checked your emails for an invoice? Some sellers don’t bother messaging and go straight to invoice and shipping. Generally I give 2-3 days as a grace period for sellers if I haven’t received an invoice, and then I reach out with the “just wanted to confirm my PayPal and shipping address! Thicc anon here.

Muscular arms, a bit thiccer than most gulls.

Wtf do I fit in? Is there a guide you can search through with your measurements just to see what you'll be able to fit? I've had my heart broken so many times looking through gorgeous AP, BTSSB, Meta etc. only to have the bust cut off at 94 cm or so. HELPPP am I just too fat for lolita?? it's hard to tell from the photo whether the ruffles are white or ivory. do make sure you know which it is so that the accessories don't clash.

the theme doesn't look very country, so I'm not sure that a straw bag would suit it - plus the straw could snag the fabric.

gold could also work as your shoe and bag color because of the gold frames in the print. and white/ivory like pic related is a safe choice.

>> No.10426620

If you’re browsing lolibrary, be warned: “Full Shirring” can mean different things so be careful. Sometimes it means the whole dress is shirred, which is a lot fewer options. “Full back Shirring” is the proper term, other people use half shirred or even partial shirred even if the entire back is shirred because they’re comparing it to address that has the entire bodice shirt such as Baby’s Shirring Princess
As a tip, a lot of popular AP prints came out with a “special set“ which was the same print in a simpler cut. It also often was more size inclusive with the back fully shirred if the original JSK cut was smaller. So when you’re browsing, don’t forget to also click “sets“ instead of just “JSK“

>> No.10426639

Shirring will be your best friend. I’m on the fit side too with similar measurements to you and more muscular arms as well, so look for blouses with plenty of stretch in the arms especially if they’re short-sleeved. Always look at measurements and keep an eye out for JSKs with full shirring in the back.

You have plenty of options for brand, I wear it. Just watch sales groups and be aware of shirring and measurements, you will be fine.

Sew ins don't last on nonblack hair, it's too slippery so the braids will unravel even if done tightly and white people's scalps in particular produce a lot more oil making it hard to keep clean. What do you mean by exaggerate? Over-exaggerate?
CC usually over exaggerates damages (the item you get is actually better than the description) but there's been a few items they screw up on every now and then. Some items even had missing/broken parts (they sold a broken Lyrical Bunny ring for $77 and didn't say it was broken) and it wasn't listed in the description. I feel bad people bought those things.
Wunderwelt is weird because they've shifted a bit. They used to overestimate damages just like CC. But recently I find that sometimes they underestimate damages and the item is in worse condition then they say. It kind of sucks. For the past year their prices have been going up and the quality has been going down.

I know that no sandals with lolita is one of the old timey rules, like don’t show your knees, that has stuck around, but I’ve seen some cute casual summer coords with sandals and no socks. What kinds of sandals available on the western market would look ok with toned-down classic lolita? I like Axes Femme sandals (pick related) but I can only fit their LL, which is hard to find.

>> No.10429960

Is Sweet Mildred okay for an indie brand? I'm desperate for a tartan skirt and considering getting one of theirs but I can't tell if their clothes have the right drape or not. They seem a bit stiff and amateurish

>> No.10429980

>I know that no sandals with lolita is one of the old timey rules
lolita sandals have been being made literally forever...only idiots think sandals and socks are an issue (applying normie, western fashion rules to lolita makes you a retard)

You could style certain lolita dresses in a 1950s way with sandals like Sapphiradoll does. Pic related is Mary Magdalene

Is it normal for AP bags to start peeling after a while? The one I own is starting to show it and some secondhand ones I see seem to have that same issue as well.

>> No.10430012

How young? Lots of banks offer student credit cards, at least where I’m from. I got a card with a low limit pretty easily at 18 with almost no savings. If you’re a student, try asking about student cards?

Though it’s really not a good idea to go into debt over lolita.

>> No.10430019

I'm 21. Its weird because I've tried to get store credit cards, though I know the interest is pretty high on those, simply because I'd heard that they are way less discriminatory when approving people. Still, unapproved just because I have no credit history. I'll definitely look into student credit cards though, thanks!

>> No.10430020

Yes. AP bags are notoriously bad quality and not worth the money unless you're buying for quite cheap on the secondhand market.

>> No.10430023

Just go to your bank and say you’re interested in a student card or card with a low limit so you can start building credit history. They’ll likely help you out.

>> No.10430026

Credit Unions and small local banks not owned by large corporations also work to build finances with young or inexperienced people more readily than a big one like Chase or something.

>> No.10430133

Thank you anon for the honesty. I saw a couple of the star bags secondhand that are already slightly damaged, might give in since the price is pretty low

It just sucks that they cost so much and go to shit if you don’t store/use them properly

>> No.10430136

Sorry anon. It was a stupid question. I was just caught off guard when that seller referred to it as classic. I had a moment where everything I knew kind of went out the window and realized maybe all my of own knowledge and perception was wrong. I needed a sanity check.

>> No.10430155

these look like shit. stop posting her. PLEASE. i hate this ugly 1940s shit.

>> No.10430160

Ah yes. Anything that isn't 100% lolita is automatically hideous because you said so and so no one should ever post her. Thank you, your highness.

>> No.10430164

NTA but she doesn't look that good. The other anon was asking for lolita coords specifically so of course you don't get points for posting that.

>> No.10430173

I mean thats subjective whether it looks good or not, and there's plenty of people who like her stuff. I personally don't care for it but its childish to phrase it like they did. I'm just sick of people acting their personal taste is the decider of what should be posted here.

>> No.10430184

I’m the anon who was asking and I love her style — I did say toned-down classic. Thanks!

Welcome to /cgl/ newfag. Also by that same metric no one should post anything here that they like.

>> No.10430237

Yes its 4chan everyone is edgy and mean blah blah blah newfag blah blah blah regurgitated meme x10000 doesn't make you any less of a self centered cunt for trying to tell people not to post shit just because you personally don't care for it. I don't know what metric you speak of. I'm just saying taste is subjective so if your reason for why someone shouldn't post something is "its ugly to me" you sound kinda stupid.

>> No.10430242

There's nothing edgy about people posting their opinions. We use /cgl/ to get away from annoying hugboxes. Just ignore opinions you don't like instead of derailing the thread.

Why are so many lolitas really bitchy and two faced? Like I've never come across a community filled with such baseline bitchiness such as this one.

>> No.10430262

>Like I've never come across a community filled with such baseline bitchiness such as this one.
Obvious trolling is obvious trolling, but I can't belive people are still saying this shit when nearly every fucking community had the "skeletons out of the closet month", where it turns out people that were respected and liked turned out to be stupid asshats at best and ruining others' lives at worst. This month it's Smash, go check it out! Lolitas aren't even that openly bitchy, hanging out on 4chan and other chanlike sites may distort your view of the community, but like 80% of the people either wouldn't touch it with a stick or don't engage in ita threads.

>> No.10430275

I'm actually not trolling. I guess the way I phrased it does make it seem like bait. This is genuinely the vibe I get it, like there's a lot of backhanded compliments and passive aggressive undertones in the way people communicate in this community. Obviously that's not the case everywhere but I've just never experienced it anywhere else.

>> No.10430278

The conclusion I can come to is that in male dominated communities you have more overt assholes but in female communities its a lot of passive aggressiveness and subtle rudeness. Im not saying one is better than the other, just that its a different vibe.

>> No.10430284

Nayrt but this is just girls in general. I'm a biological female and nothing I've experienced in jfashion is exclusive to the community. It happens in any female group.

Guessing it refers to how the fabric stripes change directions all over the bodice? A lot of labels of "switching" by branding seem to be a little arbitrary

Does anyone have any ideas on how to repair a cut on fabric? I just got this jsk that has what looks like a box cutter cut and I’m trying to figure out how to mend it. Stitching will make it too obvious so maybe an adhesive? The print is light tho so I imagine the glue would show and make it much worse. As of now it’s unnoticeable but I know laundering will be a challenge.

Should I take it to a seamstress?

How do you think the wearer of the bubblegum sweet dress could have got involved with a box cutter?

>> No.10430616

...by opening the package carelessly of course?

>> No.10430627

First fray check the edges
Then get fusible interfacing and iron it onto the back of the cut like a patch, leaving at least 1cm extra on each side
It won’t cover it up but it will stop it from getting worse

>> No.10430636

These are a lot of terms I don’t understand, I’m so sorry for being extra dumb in the dumb question thread.
>fray check
There does seem to be some threading coming undone in the cut area. Should I trim them off prior to putting the patch on?
>fusible interfacing
Can I buy this on amazon? Or is it more of a craft thing that I need to go to a fabric store for?

>> No.10430651

I haven’t come back here since I posted that, but is the last time Sapphira was posted here a few days ago really the first time you’ve seen her? I guarantee you she has been wearing classic lolita longer than you’ve been aware of the term, since you seem not to have the slightest clue what toned down classic looks like (and sound like a literal child).

It's maybe not the best idea since j-fashion dresses often have different type of textiles on it ( cotton, polyester lace and thread...)
