Fashionphile and Acene Studios got hit, both of which I think might not come back. Fashionphile is a luxary re-sell website that was testing the idea of having physical locations for people to trade-in their goods. Kate Spade and other "lolitable" brands are sold through them so I was sad about that. Acene Studios is a super modern Scandi-style company from Sweden and is next to AP; I visited that store a few times and Acene seemed like it was also "testing the waters" but wasn't firmly established / certain they wanted to be in the US.

It's a tough call because what are you suppose to do? Many businesses, if they were to lose all their inventory tomorrow and had their store front destroyed, would not have the money to rebuilt. Most insurance companies never cover riot damage and because so much damage has happened, most insurance companies are busy figuring out how they can avoid paying out for any of this.

If I had a shop I might try to stand infront of it at the least. Even for people who aren't owners; there's an incentive to not let the 'hood you live in to become a food or retail desert.

Guess who assigns those? A detective with the PD. They come out and take prints and photos to run in a DB. They can sometimes catch repeat offenders. Anyone looting in a house is either going for damage or obvious snatch and grab targets. Even JapanLA didn’t have much stolen, just damaged. Their large Apple Monitor which was probably worth a lot wasn’t taken, but damaged.
