My husband has been working through the pandemic because he’s a first responder so money hasn’t been too tight and we got both our stimulus checks recently. He keeps telling me that I can use some of it to buy some second-hand brand off of lace market or something but I can’t get over how guilty I feel spending that money on something frivolous even though we aren’t struggling or anything.

wearing jfash outside of asia fucking sucks. i think japan's (and other countries') strict interpretation of normality actually make it easier. pockets of communities develop and revolve around certain fashions or hobbies and turn into full blown societies more than in the west where communities are just groups of hobbyists more than anything. think about lolita for instance, the brand shops are an obvious difference but there are other places like cafes and salons that cater to lolita. and even though outsiders have a negative opinion of you, you get to hide in a world made with you in mind for a while.

This is the feels thread, chill. She wasn't even saying that other countries need to cater to her in the first place, just that it sucks. And goth is a terrible example, it's not the same as lolita at all. Plus, it's far more mainstream acceptable to wear goth than lolita.
