How do I deal with replica-chans when they pull out this
> don't you download pirate conent
> it's just clothes, take it easy

Even tho I do download pirate content, I try my best to avoid buying even shoes replicas. Shit like this basically devalue the effort I put into building my wardrobe.

>> No.10331533

just continue to flex on them for being poor and belittle them for not being able to afford legit burando. insult their replicas. make *them* feel bad. compare them to the generic walmart cereal knockoffs of the brand name ones.

I can't, that's class discrimination and dick behaviour overall

Compare quality of the fabric, I explain the importance of supporting the artist.
If they can't listen to that reason, dab on those itas and their wuflu dresses.

what exactly do you need help with in terms with dealing with them then?

>> No.10331551

Ask them how they'd feel if someone took their artwork and used it to make money with no effort. I've had my shit resold on ebay as "prints" before and it stings and sucks.

Idk, at first I was mad with these takes, but now I feel bad because these people might not have a privilege to afford brand, especially if there’re adults with a job in low paying area or have a kids that need to be supported.

If they can't afford brand there is taobao....or they could just choose not to participate in a luxury hobby?

do you also feel bad when you go out to eat because others might not be able to? or when you do anything? if you are so worried about class discrimination in a fucking hobby then i'd hate to know how you feel about actual important things.

Lolita is not a luxury hobby lol, it's just a hobby. Only slightly more expensive than normie clothes that weren't made by child slaves.

>> No.10331577

>>10331532
Comparing the two is stupid imo, pirated content is usually just for personal use, there’s very few people making profit and it’s usually just people burning disks at home, whereas when you buy a replica you’re financially supporting an industry that thrives on ripping off small businesses.

Why do people like you care so much what other people do? How does their buying a replica affect you at all?

>> No.10331656

How does people being mean to others affect you? How does people torturing cats affect you? There's nothing wrong with wanting things to be better for other beings and for society as a whole. Art theft hurts artists, simple.

Torturing an animal is a heinous act that physically hurts another being. Buying a replica hurts an artist's feelings, I guess, but it isn't comparable to violence or trauma.

>> No.10331669

>>10331667
I honest to god wasn't trying to make a direct comparison, I was just refuting point A of anon's post by bringing the argument around to: yes, we do care in some cases what other people do.

What the line is is different for different people. Most people care if someone abuses an animal because that's a severely awful thing to do. Some people care if someone litters. Some people care if someone steals art. A few people might care if someone steals from Walmart.

Why on earth would you need replicas when you can get secondhand brand skirts for 2,000 yen easy and jsks for around 4,000. It might not be crazy pastel vomit ap but you will find things

>> No.10331682

>>10331564
You may not realize this but lolita clothing is not a necessity and no one is entitled to own it.

>> No.10331685

>>10331677
Because people want AP pastel vomit specifically. I can't think of any brand or taobao that makes anything exactly like AP style, that's why almost all replicas are AP.

Ignore them. Itas were talking about about how lolita was too expensive and I tried to direct them to some affordable indie. "Oh, we'll go look and then find it cheaper on Amazon, anon." They deserve their ugly replicas.

both purchasing replicas and sharing programs/culture online are fine. Don't fall for copyright trolls.
Publishers often refer to copying they don't approve of as “piracy.” In this way, they imply that it is ethically equivalent to attacking ships on the high seas, kidnapping and murdering the people on them. Based on such propaganda, they have procured laws in most of the world to forbid copying in most (or sometimes all) circumstances.
If you don't believe that copying not approved by the publisher is just like kidnapping and murder, you might prefer not to use the word “piracy” to describe it. Neutral terms such as “unauthorized copying” (or “prohibited copying” for the situation where it is illegal) are available for use instead. Some of us might even prefer to use a positive term such as “sharing information with your neighbor.”

Nah let's be honest, a 300 dollar dress is a luxury when you could get a well made dress from a reputable brand for maybe 60-70 dollars.

Do we know if lolita companies actually even own the copyrights? In another hobby where I hear whining about this (BJD) we found out that most companies didn't bother to purchase the copyrights at all, therefore replica dolls aren't actually illegal. Probably the same with most lolita companies?

This. Why do people keep pushing this meme? The only ones being sold that low get snatched instantly. I never saw one skirt available for sale at 20euro in good condition.

It's if you're buying on y!ja, fril, mercari, occasionally closetchild has this sort of very cheap brand but you have to check daily. I've gotten a lot of main pieces around or under 5000 yen and you can get skirts for 2000-3000 on auction. Granted it's most likely to be IW, meta and old Baby, but if you like Meta prints the shirred skirts they do are extremely affordable secondhand.

Good point.
IMO it's really sad that people fear sharing art because it could be illegal.
