With wardrobe post season in our midst, I thought a storage thread might be helpful. Talk about how you store your frills, tips for maximizing space, post display inspo, link any ride or die storage products, etc

What do gulls think about vacuum bags? My lolita wardrobe is separate from my daily work wear so it has to be stored separately. The space is limited and I wonder if getting vacuum bags wouldn't help me save space.

I've had several dozen hot pink heart ones for ~3 yrs, no issues with staining or dying, but I never hang anything wet on them and I wouldn't recommend it. If you're worried you can rinse them off beforehand (I did this for the first dozen but no issues for any of the ones I bought after). I had 3 or 4 of them break off from the metal hook. They're great for saving space

Thing is that I already received some in grey color. Flock coating has began peeling off and I pretty expect them to get broken soon. I have plain black ones my mom got for me from Costco years ago, but I only use them in my normie wardrobe for things that tend to fall off hangers like wide collar blouses that lost their hanging ribbons, blouses made of smooth fabrics, or cardigans that don’t have buttons. So far I’ve only lost one and that was because it was handled roughly during a move- it got bent at the hanger area and the flocked portion cracked where the hanger screws in. I’ve never had problems with color transfer or fibers coming off, but I can see that happening if you buy cheap ones from amazon or similar. Make sure you read reviews of the item before buying online to see if customers who bought them had those issues.

Does anyone else have a totally different aesthetic decorating taste than pastel grandma-y cuteness that's at odds with their wardrobe?

I store a lot of my accessories and bows etc out in the open, and it clashes so hard with my deep-maroon-and-ornate-bronze-with-ferns-everywhere house decorations. I also like to collect and display teasets and teacups, but the English style ones just look so out of place in my house. I'm proud of my digs and like what I have going on and would like to host tea parties or the like, but it just clashes so hard with the lolita aesthetic and idk if I should embrace it or just hide all my pink girly stuff away

Its also fairly easy and super cheap to make your own custom mannequin just search DIY dress form and you will see a lot of videos and guides. If your worried about it looking ugly you can cover it with prettier pattern tape or a cotton cover for display.

Its also genuinely a great way of seeing how clothes fit on your body type and styling from different angles and not just from inside your own head

Let's say you sleep at someone else's place or stay at a hotel etc., never put your suitcase near the bed and don't let your suitcase on the floor open longer than needed. Take out what you need, zip it close and put it aside. When you leave the place again, put all the clothes you have worn into a plastic bag and into the suitcase. That way possible contaminated items don't come into contact with your unused items and the inside of your suitcase remains safe as well.
