A bjd. I was young and stupid. They're pretty but I really spent $600 on a doll? At least I didn't sell it at too much of a loss.

The new moi meme moitie wrist cuffs. I wish I just bought wrist cuffs from taobao or Aatp instead. I kind of regret buying the KamijoX Hatsune Miku X MMM headbow because it's not worth the price, HOWEVER I still love it and it's everything I want from a headpiece and is incredibly flattering on me. I just don't love the price.

>>10306497
I'm glad I wasted my money on lolita instead of bjd. I love them, but I don't see them as a good hobby to get into as a teen, especially if you don't intend on doing fun stuff like photo shoots or making clothes for your dolls.

>> No.10306580

I bought a rare OP from someone, for an exorbitant amount. This dress almost never showed up second hand. It arrived, and within a couple days the exact same dress is on japan auctions for 1/10th what I paid. The saddest part is that the one I bought arrived with unmentioned severe damage.

An ancient moitie bolero that I bought for 15k yen because I thought it came as a set with a dress judging from the pictures and google translate description. But when it arrived, it was only the bolero with the cross button almost falling off completely and chalk-like stains on the sleeves. This was 4 years ago and I still love the bolero to bits but at the same time.. a tiny part of butthurt remains.

>>10306497
Don't be sad, nowadays that's the price custom faceup heads go for.

Anon are you me? I have the exact same issues with exactly those two items, love the headbow but the price ain’t worth it.

My most recent thing is dropping $100 on a brand maxipad headdress, that turned out to be much tinier than shown on the stock photos and looks like shit on me. And no it is not because I have a gigantic head, what they made is just smaller than the sample.

>> No.10307266

Like, the average person I meet doing community sports is fairly well off, but all my cosplayer/alt fashion friends are in like trailer parks and shitty neighbourhoods.

>> No.10307278

>>10307266

Sports is generally an expensive thing to do (at least in the US) because of equipment, time and money commuting to practice or games, etc. poor kids often rarely get to do extracurricular activities in school and as adults poor people don't have the leisure time to spend playing sports or money to spend on gear or membership fees at local clubs (golf, or even hockey, for example. I have a friend who plays hockey weekly or more and cycles semiprofessionally and he can afford to because he's a CFO of a company and well off financially)

In contrast, lolita is a fashion that is riddled with impulse buying and status symbol pieces which many misguided poor people love and can easily participate in by just going into debt or or finding deals. It's easy to be poor and spend money you don't have on clothes and stuff compared to spending time you don't have playing a sport.

And a lot of poor people are out of shape or fat as well...guess what other group is also very drawn to lolita? (No shade or anything I used to be a fatty chan)

In addition to the basic logic >>10307265
expressed about most people in the world being kinda poor in general, there are other reasons a hobby like lolita specifically when compared to something like playing sports attracts more people likely to be poor.

$60 on a pair of Sugary Carnival socks. AP re-released all the SC socks a few months later along with one of their pastel pony prints. Can't really regret it though, my set was just missing the socks and I had been looking for a decent, not gross pair for so long, and really at that time I had no way to know AP would re-release them a few months after the socks were already in my hands.

Also paid like $400 for a SC set, but it came with a lot of extras that I reused in my other coords. And another $200 for the doll, which I mildly regret -- I'm a doll person, but I really wanted the doll with the blue dress and instead ended up with the lavender dress. I still can't find either the blue nor the black version of the dresses, but she at least has a few more AP sets to keep her company, so all in all they weren't really terrible impulse purchases, just kind of overpriced I guess.

Last year I bought a parasol for what I think equaled to around 30 dollars in my country's currency. The thing is the parasol was just OK, it matches with a gothic dress I have, but that's about it, it barely protects from the sun, it doesn't double as an umbrella and I never have a chance to use it. I really should have saved that money to buy an actual good parasol that doubles as an umbrella online, but I got carried away and bought it thinking I wouldn't see another parasol anytime soon. I want to sell it to get back what I lost, but I feel bad for asking even half the price I bought it at
