It's that time again,here i go:

Money is really tight at the moment and I’m very much considering camming or doing sw to fund luxuries and hobbies. Lolita is my main hobby. I struggle a lot with people and social interaction and I’ve made so many friends through the fashion and it means so much to me. Being unable to attend meets right now is taking a huge toll on my mental health.

I’m very internet savvy and I’d be fine with hiding my identity and I’d be sure to keep things as far away from Lolita as possible. But I’m still really anxious about people finding out. I think if that did happen a majority of my comm wouldn’t bat an eyelash but there’s one girl in particular that would make it into a big deal and would probably turn others against me. She’s already caused a few problems within the comm with friendships and using people for money and AFAIK hasn’t been called out for any of it.

I’ve tried things like swagbucks and Qmee and selling crafts to make extra month but they don’t really work and getting an extra job isn’t really an option for me right now.

If money is tight, the best thing to do would be to take a break from your luxurious hobbies, they are a luxury for a reason.

Try to be content with what you currently have and see if you can mix things up with your current wardrobe.

See if there is anywhere you can tighten your budget on, use coupons, see if there are essentials you can get at the dollar store if you aren't already doing so, and put a little money aside where you can to spend on hobbies here and there while you are in a rough patch.

You can of course cam if you want, it's all up to you what you do. But forget what your comm might think, what if your family and friends find out about it? Think of the consequences thoroughly and if you are okay with that happening.

anyway, here’s mine:

>i’m still learning the correct methods and etiquette for washing and taking care of quality clothes properly, so a good portion of my dresses and clothes, including some brand, have stains i can’t/don’t yet know how to get out, or mysterious small black stains i assume to be burns from back when i used to toss things in the dryer on high heat or careless ironing. i tore up several pantyhose tights beyond wearability by also throwing them unprotected in the washing machine and dryer. i also shrank a warm 100% wool btssb cardi by doing the same thing, though i thankfully managed to unshrink it by janky wikihow methods and wear it regularly again!
a lot of my dresses also have mysterious loose or pulled threads sticking out and idk if that’s due to my clumsiness/carelessness or defects in the clothes, but i just pull them out or cut them in the hopes it won’t damage further. now i obviously at least have the foresight to turn my dresses inside out and put them in protective laundry bags, i hang them up to air dry instead of throwing into the washer, and i use a steamer instead of an iron where i could burn more things. still, thank goodness a lot of the pieces i regularly wear and thus regularly have to wash are ones i plan to wear and keep until they fall apart for life, not ones i plan to resell.

as someone who's been drawing for 12 years, you're "not getting caught" everyone can tell that your art is traced, they're just not saying anything. Traced art has a certain "look" to it. It's difficult to put into words and is more of something that you have to have an eye for, but people who have been artists for several years can easily tell at a glance that you have no fucking clue what you're doing.

My favorite brand is Meta because they've always catered the most to international market. Way before I became lolita, their Go! Go! Lolita-chan was the most inspiring thing. I used to click through all the pictures at least once a week and dream about all the lolitas around the world. They were the first to offer international shopping, and good english language support, even while other brands were still not accepting foreign buyers. It made me feel very welcomed into the fashion, and I probably would not be lolita without Meta.

Yeah, it all comes down to proportions. I'm 5'8" with an average torso, so a lot of stuff hits my ribs rather than my waist. And my band size is only 22 so most of my chest size is in my breasts. That throws things off more, because my chest lifts the waist even higher. Standard waisted OPs generally turn into empire waists on me, so I wind up stuck with JSKs, and often having to modify straps on those.

I tend to like punk pieces, and those run a lot smaller than sweet or even classic. That definitely doesn't help. Putamayo is especially bad.

I only own 10 sets of cute clothes from goodwill and ross, but when I hit maximum stress I buy a laptop from ebay for about $40 $250, which tends to happen every few months. It's a bit nonsensical that I have this big stack of laptops I don't use.
