Dream dress concept has a grain of despair in it, but still there is some limit, where buying an article of clothing makes sense. What's your top borderline price you're comfortable spending on coveted dream dress? Twice of retail? Three times of market price? A price of older car?

>> No.10238610

No need to boast about your bra size, anon.

>> No.10238617

My most recent dream dress can be found at 150% to 200% of its retail price. I haven't bought it. I'm not bitter at all. But it has got me thinking that in terms of used dresses on the second hand market, coveted items or not, I'd prefer to not pay above 120% of the original price when it was brand new. It's a second hand market for a reason.

I’ve paid $1000 for a dress before and would probably pay $2000 for my ultimate DD, which usually goes around $1200

>> No.10238629

I think over $2,000 is too much. For me personally $1,600

>> No.10238663

I won't spend more than half of my monthly paycheck on any dress, dream or no.

>> No.10238665

$500 is my limit, if it's more than that I don't need it that badly.

>> No.10238675

About 150% of the original price. I don't think any dress is ~mandatory~ to have and I'd rather live without it and give my money straight to the brand for their other stuff than someone scalping a popular dress. None of my dream dresses are really that rare anyway, so if lucky, I'll be able to find them for original price or less someday.

I never understood the attitude of some lolitas that they NEED to have some item.

>scalping

Why is this word getting misused so much lately? The witch-hunt for “scalpers” is insane these past few months.

I recently let a DD slide for $350 so... I know that was stupid, it is a rare-ish dress too. Idk why I didn't buy it, I had the funds for it.

>> No.10238716

Then it wasn’t a DD

>> No.10238719

>>10238716
Then I guess I don't have any DD's. That was the only dress I have been wanting for a while.

>> No.10238721

Most I’ve spent on a dress was $400 incl shipping, would probably not do that again, even though it was a dream dress. I seem to be poor in comparison to others here.

Most I've spent (on a secondhand item) was $170 shipped and I've been in lolita for about 7 years now, you don't need to feel bad about it.

>> No.10238728

I spent $450 on a dress without shipping that wasn’t on the top tier of my DD but I knew i wouldn’t find it ever again. When I got it the pits reeked of BO so i was pretty pissed.

>> No.10238787

The most I spent on a dress was ~$500. It wasn't my dream dress - just an OP that usually sells for retail price plus some.

I already have my dream dress but I was ready to pay $1k for it. It's not very popular, but it is rarer, and I spent two years waiting for it to show up in the right colorway. I got it for $130. I was extremely lucky.

But there's really no limit on what you "should" spend. You have one life and only you can decide how much that dress is worth to you. I think it's stupid to put a price on your happiness.

>> No.10238790

I've missed out on my DD twice
Once because I was poor, and the other time because it was missing a button and had a small run in the fabric
it was only about $300 both times. but still

>> No.10238793

Depends on the condition I guess but I wouldn't spend more than retail price on it unless it's never been worn, I'd rather give my money to the brands instead. My DD isn't popular though, it just rarely pops up on the secondhand market.

>> No.10238799

€500 is my max for any piece of clothing, because I’d feel too anxious about wearing anything more expensive than that. Plus most of my wishlist items are pretty old with simpler, daily wear designs and I’m not prepared to pay too much above retail price for a piece that’s been though 10 years of regular wear.

>> No.10238814

>>10238607
I only wear more toned down so $400 or so is my limit

>> No.10238869

1000€ if shipped from EU
~500€ if from non EU country (fuck our 50% import taxes)

>> No.10238877

>>10238869
I feel you. EU why you gotta be so damn greedy?

>> No.10238921

Most ive spent so far is $600 on a MTO OTT hime dress that retail was $1,100.

>> No.10239066

Currently working my ass off to afford my DD set. It’s 700. If I someone buys it before me, I’m going to commit seppuku.

>> No.10239128

Probably $500 if it were just the dress, maybe closer to $600 for a set. The hard part for me is I've never seen the cut/ color combo I want for sale second hand so if it ever did pop up I'd be tempted to buy it regardless of price. Providing I had the extra cash.

>> No.10239182

$300 ish, because it's old and in an unpopular cut and colorway.

>> No.10239281

$1,000 unless its the legendary kuragehime dress.
