So I've started to notice alot of Korean instagram accounts that are strongly influenced by fairy kei, himekaji and vintagey jfashion styles. Obviously there are Korean girls that buy directly from Japan, such as https://instagram.com/seol_kee?igshid=ca2b6cq1nvll
https://instagram.com/candice_luv7?igshid=1sy821rmvseio

But there are actual stores popping up too, like these https://instagram.com/sweetpea_doll?igshid=1pmkk7khs4pjw

I know there has always been a few lolita stores, but I didn't know other fashions were catching on. Kfashion has always been feminine and somewhat girly (like chuu) but the stores I posted feel closer to the quirkier, youthful jfashion aesthetic than in the past. They also have their own twist on it, so it feels like an evolved version of past jfashions.

It would be great to hear from anyone whose spent time over there and can comment on what's going with fashion!
Do you guys think that Korea will be the new kawaii/girly fashion innovators? Or has it always been this way and Im just now noticing?

It's been like this for a while. Like, at least 5 years now. If you're mostly wearing lolita or fairy kei, it makes sense that you'd still think Japan is the top player in the game (the tone of this sentence sounds patronizing and I don't know how to fix it but I promise I don't mean for that to be the tone), but Korean style has basically taken over at this point. Girls in China, a huge huge fashion market, lose their shit for this casual girly cute style Korea puts out and you see a lot of these Korean trends make their way into normie Western fashion too. Hell, Kpop isn't even niche anymore. Blackpink is on the radio.

This board is for Jfashion, not Koreaboo trash.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'm just now noticing because I've been much more actively using instagram these past couple years. I haven't really seen an discussion on it though since people don't really blog about and study the Korean fashion industry on the same level they do Japan

Well jfashion content in general has been dying out and fashion talk on this board has slowed to a crawl. I also wanted to talk about something other than Lolita and the girly fashion threads have died off.

Well there's not really much to discuss. It's cute, girly fast fashion and the rest of the world really liked what they saw. There are no niche subfashions or things like lolita where there were punk roots. It's just clothes.

There's nothing to discuss. They all dress the same. You don't see us discussing the clothes you see in Bis or Sweet either.

This board has always been slow. Shitposting about off topic Kfashion won’t change that.

Korea is taking over. Sad desu, but it is the truth. Anime is only saving japan.

This board was not always slow, wtf?

It's not slower as it's always been in summer the past ~10 years if you don't count the old drama threads.

There are a ton of cons going on right now. Maybe it's just busy season.
