Probably a stupid question, but is it faux pas/cringe to use your own fanart in your own bag? Is it cringier if it's extensively used vs just a single item in the bag?

I'd much rather use official merch but there's so little of it it pains me. Looked for fan merch too but even that is minimal (online that is. Hoping I'll find some things in person at a con soon...but I was hoping to be able to bring a semi-complete bag to the con rather than be assembling one on site.)

Unfortunately, this is a decent furry bag.
It's got a couple off theme items, but in general the bag, backing board, and merchandise is cohesive. The spacing of the merch is intentional and even.

I order BDs through Amazon JP. With the set I bought the way that it worked was that every BD came with a card with a code and website printed on it. Once you collect all the cards you would then have to input the codes + your address (your forwarders address since they don't ship overseas) on the website listed, and they'll ship out the bonus then.

It could be different in another shop, hell it might even vary per label. Your best bet is to order all BDs with the same account + forwarder address like the other anon suggested.

I agree. I used to have a full acrylic bag but the constant clacking made me too paranoid which is why I hang them on my pinboard instead. I do have a fanned out row of acrylics on the top half of my utapri bag, but I wouldn't call it a true grapevine as they're still a little spaced out.

My bags don't have grapevined acrylics but I do use a lot of them (image is a selfpost) so I can maybe give some advice.

Your best bet if you're truly committed to them overlapping is to seal/protect them somehow, otherwise the stickers will scratch over time. However, the problem acrylics generally have in itabags is that they fade into the background, so I think grapevining them will just muddy the actual print and make them unattractive. I've had the most luck when I arrange them such that they're surrounded by "strong" merch (rubber straps, buttons, things with colors that stand out) and having them flat against the bag so you have the best chance of seeing the whole print. Another thing that works is having something really dramatic and eye-catching for the background; I'm using some trimmed down white faux fur as backing in another WIP bag. If your heart is truly set on grapevining then I'd depend on a background to make it stand out.

I'd like to turn some tote bags into full-on itabags with an insert, does something like a clear cover for this kind of purpose (see my shitty drawing) even exist? I tried looking up all sorts of "itabag cover"-related terms but only found ones that you're supposed to put on top of a bag to protect it from rain, I want one that's closed at the bottom so it not only protects my merch but also enables me to use an insert instead of pinning the merch directly to my bag. These Mettaton bags are god tier, I'd say be creative and really look into the detail of the characters! The top bag in particular did a really cute trick by using the 'ratings' segment of the game on the bag. As for doing it with a symmetrical layout I think buying dupes of everything as you're doing is already the way to go.

Fanmerch bags can look great, the problem is that people see fanmerch as an excuse to throw a bunch of random shit together with no thought put into it.

I have a starter bag that I bought from Amazon filled with fandom pins/keychains as a way of dipping my toe into the hobby. I love the way real baggers organize their bags and how creative they are. What's the theme going to be, anon? If it's a character with plenty of merch but you're sparse on funds, I'd recommend saving up for the items you really want and then sprucing up the bag with rosettes and such first before resorting to making your own stuff.

It's more a lack of merch than anything. I wanted to do a bag for trainer Hikari, but official merch of her doesn't exist as far as I know and fanmade stuff is surprisingly rare too. The alternative character from another series I'd make a bag for barely has it any better.

Thank you! I ended up taking the acrylic off and putting it in my mini shrine since it was the sound of it hitting the zipper parts that was annoying me. It's actually surprisingly sturdy with the design sandwhich'd between two thick layers of acrylic.

hello, first bag and first time posting here and I wanted to ask for some ideas / concrit!

I know I want to make a new insert that's bigger than the base bags default since theres a decent amount of space that could be filled, but i cant decide on a fabric color / print for it. should i just stick to plain white since the merch colors are a bit all over?
i'd also appreciate any concrit on the layout, if it helps i also have 3 more of the can badges on the bottom corners!

I would make sure all the matching buttons are aligned the same angle. (Like tilt wise? If that makes sense.)
The bottom rows kinda bug me because they aren't symmetrical when the rest of the bag is, but that's minor and a personal tic.

I think it might look better if you shifted the red 6x dupes to the bottom and moved everything else up a row so the white 6x dupes are where the reds used to be. Essentially, framing the rest of your merch with the dupes. As for insert colour, does he have an image colour? Just based on your merch colours, I'd go for a pale pink/peach insert.

for the bags I regularly use (not at cons) I prefer backpacks. I have two of the wego backpacks with the heart cut outs I use regularly because its a nice size but I kinda wished the window was bigger. I have a tote as well but my shoulders get sore from the weight of it all.
