>Grinch check has started.

I have contacted those who I have marked as possible victims of Grinches and am awaiting contact from our volunteers! Again, if you have not received anything and have not been contacted by me - send me a message ASAP so I can see what is happening.

We are still needing volunteers for about 6 more cards, so if you have cute stationery you never use and want to help out - please let us know!

Otherwise, please continue to post gifts!

Looking for advice re: Grinch Check also..
I have contacted those who I have marked as possible Grinch Victims to double check whether or not they have received a gift as we had a lot of gifts showing up sent by people who had not let us know they'd sent anything.. A few I emailed actually came back and said "Yes I received a gift!" so our list of people is actually about 3. But...

If potential Grinch Victims do not reply to mail.. what do we do? Leave it at that and not bother to arrange to have a gift sent? Or keep emailing for a response?

I take it if they have not replied, or not sent me any mail.. maybe they have received something already, or simply don't care??

こんにちは Stephanie!

I just got your gift today, I love it SO much! I actually screamed when I saw the Moomin mug, it is beyond cute. Your card was adorable too.

I can't believe you're from Sydney, what a coincidence. I lived there for four years, I just moved a little North recently. I also visited Japan in 2017 and I am so jealous, I felt like I could have stayed for a year and not have done everything I wanted to do. From memory the sun in Tokyo is nearly as hot as the Aussie one though!

I'm super glad you liked the moomin cup! I hope you enjoy the tea from Okinawa too! i was going to get you the shikuwasa tea but shikuwasa is a uh acquired taste for some. I'm missing the aussie sun so much over here...

I hope I got the right charm for you too! I wanted to get you more anime stuff but I didn't want to get the wrong husband or waifu!! (I'm super picky) I'm really sorry everything got sent out so late. PS sorry about my hand writing. It was so cold I couldn't even move my fingers properly

After all the people that got grinched get matched to get a new gift I think bootleg anon and 20 bows anon should get something too. Looking at the super nice personalized stuff the others got and then what they received is just so sad for them.
Bootleg sender def deserves a ban imo. If you send something like that, in that way, you don't take ss seriously and you definitely don't deserve to join and get a nice thoughtful gift yourself. I'm not sure what to think of Karl but all the same his gift was also not good enough.

Finally here to post my cards!
I have to say, opening these all was just as fun as opening my gifts, and I truly appreciated the cute notes and messages inside each one. They’re all on display in my room and make me so happy to look at.

Drake anon, I had a good laugh at the card and I’m so glad you picked a ‘stupid dank memez’ card. You sound very interesting, and please look forward to a message on your insta later!

HC, your drawing is adorable and I am not ashamed to say I made a really loud “Awww” when I opened it. I will also post your gift tomorrow! It’s wonderful and I am so thankful!

Thank you so much VW for the card, but as well as all the stickers, face mask, and lovely paper. It was so fun to open it up and see all the cool stuff you managed to fit inside, and I have put one of the beer stickers on my computer case!

TM, your Little Twin Stars card is adorable, and looks great on my dresser! Thank you for sending it from so far away!

And finally JM, I am in awe of your skills and how you make the ribbon flowers! What a gorgeous card! No worries about life getting in the way, and it was great to hear from you.

Sorry for the long post, I just really loved these cards, and I hope you all are doing well. Thanks for all the effort that you all put in!

Finally getting around to posting my cards and gifts from my gulls.
I've participated in every ss and white day event, and I absolutely love it!

JM from Canada and MT from Estonia, this must be the third time we've matched again I think!

JM (3862), you have absolutely captured my aesthetic! I love the bag and the little fur puffs are absolutely cute. The little train pocket watch definitely caught me off guard. I love that it fits into my classic wardrobe!

MT, I love the enamel pins! The seal is so absolutely cute, I'm going to start wearing it on my work lanyard!

#8640, the little train magazine made me chuckle. I'm looking forward to trying the tea though, I love Oolong!

HM from Scotland, thank you for your card! I love the stickers, they're going into my diary.

J from the US, the card is so cute, and I hope you're able to visit Australia sometime! There's so much to see and do!

T from Russia, you've combined my favourite things in the world: Goku and Trains. I love it! It's so quirky and cute.

#2897 You know full metal alchemist has a place in my heart. I love the card.

Money carries value of course, but I'd basically grinched Belgian Anon by not getting her a gift I was very confident she would like.

He stupidly bought $100 worth of baby hair bows from Forever 21 and thought that was an okay gift. Read the threads please

His gift was thoughtless, impersonal and plain sad. He chose to spend that much himself. It was 30-40 tier. He chose to completely ignore his giftees form and her example links. He then chose to literally blame his giftee when she expressed disappointment.
It got so far his giftee posted her form publically to prove that no she didn't ask for 20 bows.
Only after the thread was fully derailed with multiple people saying that no your gift really was shitty dude was the decision made that he himself was going to send something else instead of a grinch volunteer.
He dug his grave and laid in it and is still joking about it like he's proud he 'started the bitches love bows' meme. Stop digging him up when you haven't seen the whole thing unfold.

tl:dr its his own damn doing and it doesn't matter that he spent a lot if the gift itself is useless. I thank Mana he had help this time.

Agreed, this is the worst point. It's ok to learn new things when you pretend to participate in new activity, ask for help and accept it and fix your mistakes when you pointed at.
But to get so cheeky and choose fucking victim-blaming behavior to excuse yourself is so much retatred, so it's just have no excuse.
I still can't change my mind regarding Karl even after he sent a new girt, and still can't get those who try to defend him. I rather believe it's Karl samefagging a lot, making things even worse.

Technically, Karl may not be considered as Grinch by now. Though I just want you to know: Karl, you are not welcome next time on SS and in /cgl/ in general. Go be asocial moron in your ghetto.

I think there's a bit of a difference between victim blaming in the context of where the term is usually used (sexual assault) and here, where some autist misunderstood a form and tried to justify a gift he thought was going to be super well received because of how much money he spent on it and "bitches love bows" or something.

>> No.10098057

>>10098053
>the term is usually used (sexual assault)
actually it may be used in pretty wide context since such issues tend to pop up pretty much in regular life
people just want to believe life in general to be fair thing so only bad people get bad things
they try to protect their faith and mental health turning victims in bad persons who made something wrong

its
so
wrong
just

Yeah, I hope no one starts fawning over him because he got help from Santa Gull to fix this. It's like having your mom buy presents for your friends when you're a kid, and you take all the credit.

I had a lot of help from both Santa gull and a bunch of people from the faxcgl discord (funnily enough I was from /fit/ though).
A big thanks to everyone who assisted, most of my idea recs came from the discord but Santa gull recommended a really great substitution or two that I took her up on so her help (and willingness to double check me) was very appreciated.
Of course I can't discount all the constructive criticism I got from here and the feels thread either, so a big thanks to all of you as well. Thanks everybody!

Yeah I won't be participating again. All my card giftees never even bothered saying thank you. And I bought everyone things (not even just a card). I don't understand, you can literally just pick up your phone to go on here and type a thank you.

I'm probably going to participate again, but I'm feeling vaguely disappointed as well since I spoiled my card giftee but I don't think they ever said anything in here. I haven't heard from santa about shipping trouble or anything like that either so it just seems like they forgot all about it

>> No.10116033

Did 6791's grinch-santa send out their gift yet? Did you send it to the 3828 address or 2981 address? The latter is out of date... I updated it mid-exchange but our organizer may not have given you the right one...

>> No.10116493

I have only heard back from one volunteer who is sending the gift for Karl. Others have gone silent. One gift has also gone missing in the post, but I have received proof of shipment via receipt and photos.

For these who are still without a gift, what is the collective best idea here? No one else has volunteered to send a gift?

Y'all're upset about them not posting bc you gave them more than a card? It was the card tier.
If it was a gift, yeah, but there is no gratitude req with cards, it's just a way of spreading holiday cheer.
>sign up for and send 5 cards and 2 gifts
>giftees post
>only one card is posted
>I'm fine with that

>> No.10116518

I mean, I sent a gift and it was never posted. I never heard from Santa Gull so I assume it arrived. They just never posted, which was kind of disappointing.
I'll participate again because it isn't about getting thanks but it's kind of annoying that some people don't bother to finish it up.

2922 - HC from Mexico --- I've been constantly refreshing the tracking on the package I sent and it hasn't updated for a while. I'm worried it will never reach you and ended up lost. I can send another if you would like!

Not upset because they aren't showering me with thanks just because I've given them more than a card. Upset because they could have at least said "thank you" (for taking the time to pick something out and mailing it).
If I wanted to just give something without hearing back "to spread holiday cheer" I'd just donate the money to the less fortunate, not spend time picking out things for people who regularly spend 300$ on clothes.

>> No.10116906

>>10116506
as the other person who responded said, I'm not expecting anything big - an 'it arrived, thanks' would be just fine. I'd personally also like to have the feedback on whether what I got them was something they enjoyed, since I'm someone who doesn't do gifts a lot so I'd like the feedback on that (yes I'm an autist, how could you tell).
all in all, I'd consider it common courtesy to say thanks for receiving something.

I've learnt from past years to just not bother with cards desu. As much as snail mail is charming it's too unreliable to send small gifts with a card and people often never get it or never bother to post it. Shopping for and exhanging gifts is more satisfying and it's more likely something will be done if you get grinched or something goes missing.

I love it!!! Oh my goodness it's a perfect fit!
I've always wanted a shirt like this, sorta futuristic with an aesthetic vibe, but most importantly you were right, /fa/ would be proud!
Funnily enough I never really could figure out what to grab as a fashion choice when I browsed there a few times, always found a few things that looked good but nothing that looked great on me or a certain style that fit with how I look in general. This is perfect though! Really! I love it
(for those immediately curious like I was about what it said, the text reads "Far Journey" which is pretty appropriate for the design)
I never thought this type of fashion would suit me but it just goes to show how important it is to try new things, this was just the nudge I needed. Easily one of my favorite shirts in my wardrobe now!

(More to come, also please no bully my room I wanted to get this out fast)

And then a combination of gifts from both of my favorite anime (I'm putting the guppy sticker on my PC tower right after I finish writing this) I've wanted to have a real journal/itinerary that's personalized for a long time, you can bet I'm going to use it!
As soon as I grab some proper non-tearing poster putty I'm going to be putting that up as well, I've been meaning to add some life to this place for a while and this is perfect for that.
Finally, the cosplay guide. Again, fantastic, you were 100% right that I was primarily an armor guy, and it's so nice to finally have a proper guide that I can consult while I'm working rather than needing to constantly check a guide on my phone or computer, not to mention how much more professional and tailored this is to someone like me. Really, I can't say thanks enough!

Everything was wonderful, I'm overjoyed to be getting all this! A very Happy Holidays and the Best of New Years!
