I haven't seen one of these here before, but I found a cute hashtag I want to dump some posts from. Feel free to post any lolita-related twitter things you'd like here too! 着たい服がある (I have clothes I want to wear) is the name of a currently running manga about a tall, shy girl who "isn't cute" and doesn't fit the image of a lolita, but who wears the fashion anyway and gets closer to the people around her through it. The title is also being used as a hashtag by Japanese lolitas to post about how much they love the fashion even if they're not ideal lolitas either. A lot of the posts are very heartwarming and pretty so I thought I'd share summaries of them here.
I'll try to summarise their posts, sorry in advance if it's awful>I still want to wear these clothes even now I'm a mother. I want to cherish this feeling. 着たい服がある、それは母親となった今でも同じ気持ち。私はその気持ちを大切にしていきたい。
>>10076589Forgot to say, each post usually has several images.
>>10076590this is adorable
>I have these clothes I want to wear, not as a girl but as a woman. At first, it was a daily routine to search the internet for Lolita clothes everyday. It would have taken me a lot of courage to go buy a Kera magazine.>One day I realised, how long do I have to wear these clothes? I'll do it today! And now I'm determined to keep wearing them.
>>10076592>This IW blouse and JSK are the clothes I bought when I started wearing Lolita. They are still my favorite
>I have these clothes I want to wear: a BABY bolero and an IW JSK with a pink bear pattern. I make my coord look more like a Big Sister lolita by adding a beret from Anges.
>>10076595Even with the same clothes you can give a different impression by how you look and how you style it. I will enjoy lolita this year without feeling constrained by my age!
>I discovered lolita fashion 11 years ago. When I try to think of what drew me to it, I remember a lot of kids who were into visual kei learned from the bands we loved. >I remember that I went to the shop in Sannomiya to buy delicately designed dresses that took great courage to wear.
>>10076597>Although I bought Lolita clothes, I was frightened when I was stared at or when people treated me roughly, so I wore my clothes at home without going out. >11 years later, I still long for lolita fashion.
>>10076599>And recently, I read "There are clothes I want to wear"! I sympathized with Mami's feelings, and felt empowered to wear the clothes that I want to wear this time. >I hate photos and have messy hair, but I really wanted to join this hashtag!
>I went on a little pilgrimage, haha!>I wore lolita and took a lot of pictures.
>I have these clothes I want to wear: A big kimono remake! I cut up a kimono and sewed it into the clothes. >Everything that I wear from the bonnet to the pannier is handmade. I also made a necklace and a band-tightening ornament with a gear motif.
>>10076603>It's the best thing, taking an old, worn kimono that could be a little dirty or have holes and making it into a new skirt. And this one even became a bonnet!
This is so pure and heartwarming, I love it. Thank you for sharing anon!
>>10076605>turning a kimono into lolita... >if you remake an old forgotten kimono, you breathe new life into it>The outer surface of Cape and bonnet is Velor and the rest are made of cloth from the kimono
>I decided I would absolutely wear lolita in Tokyo, even though there were some other styles I wanted to wear too>I also want to try gothic lolita soon!
>At first I wore clothes I wanted to wear alone, but now I now I have a friend who can make tea and spend time with me dressed the same way!
>>10076614>My clothes gave me much more than just something to wear.
>>10076615>Everyone seems to be having fun in these pictures, seeing them makes me want to have a fun conversation while wearing my favorite clothes.
>>10076616> I feel very lucky that I was able to go to the Victorian Society in England and to the Revolutionary Girl Utena ball in the dresses I made.>Whenever I want to do things, whenever I want to wear it, I hurry to do it because I could die tomorrow!!
>"Tall, tsurime eyes, long face, big boobs, old"...
>>10076621>Some people call me "elegant" or "striking" and I'm very aware that those words don't describe someone cute. But still, I truly love cute clothes!
>>10076623>I want to continue wearing these clothes to inspire that people with similar issues to take courage.
>>10076625>As long as you want to wear these clothes, you should wear them!
>I don't have much to say.
>>10076629>I wear it because I want to wear it. That's all.
>>10076631>I want to keep doing what I want to do.
>>10076632>You only live once, after all
> I've spent 20 years in Lolita fashion! > My youth is Lolita fashion!
>>10076635>When I was full of complexes, I met Lolita fashion and it changed me. These are the clothes I want to wear!(Yes, this was Misako's post)
>I am grateful that I have these clothes that I think I will always love no matter how much life changes.
>>10076639>My clothes keep me bubbly and energetic!
>I'm 32 but I love lolita fashion!
>>10076646> I like cute things, there isn't a deeper meaning than that
>>10076647> I'm very proud that I don't care anymore if people stare, I just love my clothes
>>10076648> I want to wear these clothes until the day I die
I am married and have elementary school children!
>>10076600Her messy hair is my hair on a really good day.>>10076619I think like this too. I dont want to die with any regrets.>>10076631Sauce on the white op?
>>10076650> I used to wear it like Ozawa! Yet after becoming a wife and a mother, I've become more like Mami:>I'm more aware of how people see my look now
>>10076655>It is a difficult world to wear these clothes on
>>10076656>But I want to wear my clothes so I work hard and try my best
>When I was in Junior High School, I longed to wear Lolita
>>10076659>As a high school student, I learned how to walk out with my head held high
>>10076660>I am proud to be a Lolita and I will always stick with it!
>When I wear my Lolita clothes I feel brave and energetic, I feel like my most true self
I needed this thread.>>10076654I think it’s the Physical Drop nurse OP.
Thanks for posting and translating these. They are wonderful and have really brightened my day.
It's so refreshing and nice to see that japanese lolitas essentially have the same thoughts.
This is so wholesome!
>>10076623ITS THE META TEDDY GOBELIN PRINT ASDFGHJKL
>>10076631This girl looks familiar, was she featured in GLB or KERA before?
Hey OP, as a request could you include the original Japanese texts as well?
This is a wonderful thread. Thank you OP!
Shit, I sorry. I pulled an all nighter right before I started posting this thread, and I fell asleep. Going to start back up now>>10076809Sure thing, anon! I originally meant to do that anyway, but got lazy too quickly. If you'd be willing to give actual translations as opposed to my shitty Google Translate that would be really cool!>>10076606>>10076671>>10076674>>10076679>>10076727>>10076727>>10076736>>10076860I'm glad we're all enjoying this! I kind of wish we had a similar hashtag to use in English, haha. #ihaveclothesiwanttowear is just too damn long.
>>10076662> I'm excited to go out and have fun, Lolita is my armour!
>>10076867ロリィタ服に出会って、一番自分らしく居られる気がして、元気も出るし勇気も出る。出掛けるのにもワクワクするし楽しい気持ちになれるから、ある意味私の戦闘服!>I'll post the Japanese text with the last pic from each post if that's ok
>I wanted to join in this hashtag!
>>10076809seconding, or at least the hashtag. Not sure if they use anything other than #ロリータ
>>10076872> I haven't worn lolita this year, but that doesn't change what I like!
>>10076873便乗してみました!今年は着れていないんですが、好きなことに変わりはないのです。>>10076873I'm posting the Japanese text with the last pic from each post now! The hashtag is listed in my OP, it's #着たい服がある
>>10076878Not sure what this means, was posted by the same person though. It's something like>As a kid my mom dressed me in clothes with ribbon and lace.>After that, it was only cool to wear trousers.>When I became a college student and didn't have a uniform anymore, I started to wonder what I wanted to wear.> I went back to the world of ribbon and lace.> I decided to wear whatever I wanted to wear, even though I quit Lolita eventually when I thought it didn't suit me anymore.> You will always look your best when you are wearing the things you want to wear
>>10076880Dropped pic again
This is so damn cute I love it all. I wish I could cover all of those women with support so they'll continue wearing those clothes despite society's pressure
As a note, this next one is not Misako. >Working as a nurse and following those job patterns, I wanted to make sure I had a life I wouldn't regret
>>10076884> I started to wear Lolita fashion, and now it is part of me>>10076883Same, anon. I wish that for all of us here
>Are any of you guys who dress like this?
>>10076889>Some say we shouldn't, but these were my favourite clothes so I made up my mind to wear them.
>>10076891>By the way, I like girls.
>These are my coords from the last year!
>>10076896>There is Lolita fashion, of course, but I would like to wear anything I think is cute confidently without boxing myself into one style
>>10076898>As I say many times, the relationship between clothes and people is "friends." If you love them, your clothes will make you look lovely.
>I find a more gentle world in lolita. It's surprisingly nice to wear!
>>10076595What is big sister lolita?
I could be misunderstanding, but is this some Negative Nancy saying:>lol you shouldn't wear cute stuff if it doesn't suit you>I like cute stuff too, but I'm not going to wear it until I change myself to be cuter> my friends agree too There was no pic『#着たい服がある 』を読んで思ったのですけれど、何故“第三者から見た似合う服or好きだけど似合わない服”の二択になってしまうので御座いましょうね?《好きなテイストの中で許容できるされる似合う服》を選ぶという折衷案もありますのに憧れという呪いはそんなにも抗いがたいものなの? If that is indeed what she's saying, wow fuck that noise. There are many more people posting in the hashtag who disagree with her, she can take her attitude and go. Maybe if she actually gave it a shot and wore Lolita, she'd feel happier about herself!
I seem to have hit the end of the hashtag. There are some more out there jfash looks that I didn't post because they weren't Lolita, should I post those too? They're pretty neat too, I just didn't know if people would be interested. >>10076912I think the idea there is just that she looks more grown up? Kind of like Soft Lolita or what we'd call Otome
>>10076916Please share the other J Fashion tweets! I think it’s cool that this manga speaks to so many peoples hearts.
This is the most god damn wholesome thing I’ve ever seen. Thanks for sharing, OP.
Thank you so much for posting and translating these. So wholesome and heartwarming, I feel like crying.
>>10077188Second this. Reading all these posts felt really good and was exactly what I needed. Thank you for the wholesomeness.
Thank you for making this OP. I always worry about aging out of lolita because society will eventually deem me "too old" (i'm 26). This gave me encouragement
>>10078387Society deems you too old for frills and bows by the time you're 12, that's the point of alt fashion, wearing whatever you like despite what society may think.
>>10076619>Revolutionary Girl Utena balloh god i need details on this
>>10078387I am 38 and I still wear lolita. Don't give a shit what people think. If you love it, do it as long as it's not hurting anyone else.
This really made my day. I am love seeing people who feel stronger in their frils, too. It is a little to fun seeing this echoed over seas.
>>10078585This is nice to hear, anon. I'm going to be 35 this year and I still love lolita. Lolitas in their 30s high five!
Some of these are even more wholesome in japanese to be honest. Still, great work OP
>>10078692Our frills are armour :)
