It's nearing that time of year. Talk about wardrobe posts or post your own wardrobe collages!

>Are you making a wardrobe post this year?
I am! I’m trying my hand at making a video instead of a photo post this time
>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
There are a few people on instagram I’d really love to see (milkcircus, obsixwi) but mostly smaller accounts who I love seeing coords from
>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
I think mahou-momo! Her photos were so clear and had great detail shots
>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
Nothing particularly special, but I’m trying to make the shots at least a little interesting
>How much did your wardrobe grow?
I stayed at roughly the same number of main pieces, but really changed my style
>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
I hope not! Lolita seems to be getting more popularity and I hope to see a lot of posts. Maybe there can be a single tag used this year? Just so they can all be found in one place
>Where will you post?

>Are you making a wardrobe post this year?
It will be my first post and I will try, but most likely deliver way too late because there's still too much in the mail and even more to photograph. I'm also kind of embarrassed by my lack of typical lolita shoes despite having such a huge wardrobe.

>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
All the old and new oldschool lolitas. Like the other anon said, there are a lot of smaller accounts that I'd be interested in too. Also a few people from LM who seem to have great taste.

>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
Oof, there were a lot of nice ones. I appreciated everyone who also arranged coords and the few Moitiefags who posted.

>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
I'd like to do close-up detail shots, full shots and coords for each main piece. Maybe even short gifs? In january I noted down a lot of ideas and things I liked about wardobe posts of the previous years, I'll have to find those notes again, haha.

>How much did your wardrobe grow?
More than a half in numbers. I also put a lot of focus on accessoires and cutsews this year.

>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
Yes. I think a lot more people will post on IG with inferior picture quality. I also feel like the number of active lolitas is declining every year, but that might just be me.

>Where will you post?

>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
All the goths. All of them.
>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
See above. Because I'm a black loving spook.
>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
Sadly no. No dress form, I'll be lucky to find a place with decent lighting to spread a sheet.
>How much did your wardrobe grow?
Not much, but I thinned out a few pieces because they weren't quite what I wanted.
>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
Less on LJ, more on other platforms.

>Are you making a wardrobe post this year?
Definitely! I've done it each year since I started in 2013 (well, starting in 2012 but yeah)

>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
Anyone whose blog I follow (really wish Lolita Wonderland would do one again!), and there was this one girl who had a wardrobe that was basically a single outfit in I think 2015 and I've really enjoyed watching hers develop over the years. I also love seeing any wardrobe in any style that's photographed really aesthetically.

>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
Bonniviwii (or however you spell it) was my favourite, it was just so pretty to look at.

>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
Not yet, but I want to do something good! I did my best post in 2016 (see attached) and would like to top it in terms of aesthetics...but we'll have to see how that goes.

>How much did your wardrobe grow?
Quite a bit! I bought five new main pieces this year and a bunch of supplementary items as well, which is big for me, especially since they're all brand except for one custom-made OTT piece.

>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
Probably there will be less of LJ, but people will do them elsewhere. Much as I don't use LJ anymore I did like having this all centralised.

>Where will you post?
LJ, and I'll link to that on my blog.

>>Are you making a wardrobe post this year?
I’m trying! I live in a part of a world where the sun rises at 7am and sets at 5pm and only have one west facing window in my home, so even without my busy work/school schedule I only have a few decent hours (when it’s not shorty and cloudy outside) that I have decent lighting in my room to take photos. HopefuyI finish in time, even if it’s just my main pieces.
>>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
No one in particular except for my comm. I love seeing what the girls in my comm have! It’s so interesting to see what we all have in common, or where our tastes differ! I love seeing all wardrobes, I don’t care too much on who posts them desu
>>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
Again, I don’t really care about who has what, I just like seeing everyone’s individual tastes! It’s a lot of fun and helps me think of ideas for my own coords and future wardrobe pieces
>>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
Like I said upwards I’m fighting against schedule, time and light, I don’t have big plans but I at least like to add blouses to my jumperskirts and skirts. That way an idea of my style is portrayed with my blouses without having an extra item to photograph and post.
>>How much did your wardrobe grow?
Last year I had about 50 items. I’ve sold or are selling 20 items this past year, and have bought about 20 items to replace them, so it’s changed a bit. If anything, I’ve gotten rid of more prints or flashier items and replaced them with more stuff I can wear easier on the daily.
>>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
There are never less posts, they just go places other then LJ
>>Where will you post?
LJ as long as it’s not buggy for me. Otherwise I will post/cross post to my IG. It’s just annoying that for there I have to break things up because of the photo limit. I can’t even collage 60+ items into a 10 image collage.

>>Are you making a wardrobe post this year?

>>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
The EGA posters and gothic/classic ones.
>>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
A lot of them. I like seeing pieces I didn't know about, aren't on Lolibrary or have shit pixelated pics on LB, especially 1999 - 2005 MmM.
>>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
I just moved and have yet to decide what room have the least yellow lighting/yellow walls, day light is currently at like 8 am to 3 am so that's out of the question.
>>How much did your wardrobe grow?
I'll be spending the winter holidays in Japan, enough said. I also just moved in with my daily lolita girlfriend so it's her wardrobe as well this time.

>Are you making a wardrobe post this year?
No, I don't have the time/energy for these anymore. The last time I did one was about 4 years ago.
>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
Anyone with huge classic collections.
>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
I'm not good at remembering usernames... Overall, I like those with a cohesive style or theme, to discover new pieces to add to my wishlist and getting inspiration for my own coords.
>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
I used to lay out everything on my bed, non-main items went into group shots, 2 extra lamps for good lightning and photoshop editing. Took pictures with my DSLR, it was all very time consuming.
>How much did your wardrobe grow?
It went from about 50 main pieces to about 90 since the last time I made a wardrobe post.
>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
Probably. Lj keeps dying, newbies aren't used to it, "old" lolitas with huge wardrobes stopped caring about it after posting theirs a few times.

I won't.

>Are you making a wardrobe post this year?
Probably, I have a lot (by my standards) so it may be just the highlights. I like to focus on the details. Last year was the first year I skipped since starting.
>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
I always enjoy themed and curated collections since my tastes are all over the place
>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
I can't recall particular ones
>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
No other than I upgraded my bedding this year so it will be nicer for pictures. I also might do a companion YT video for detail shots.
>How much did your wardrobe grow?
It didn't, I actually downsized a bit which I'm happy about. Last year was the year for exponential growth.
>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
Unfortunately yes. The internet is moving to quick consumption Instagram posts and lolita's golden years are over imo...

I love seeing them all honestly. I prefer higher quality pictures though, those are the best posts.
>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
I liked the posts with large pictures and detail shots! There were quite a few last year.
>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do. My first two years posting I made coordinate flat lays and I always go back to those photos for coordinate planning. I'm thinking I might do that again because it looked better than the dressform I think.

Yes, I sold some and bought some more, and i like having updated catalogs. I go back to my old posts fairly often.
>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
obsixwi, tealmenagerie, bonniviwi (sp?), and the sweet lolita collectors
>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
I can't recall much, but I did like one of the girls who had a good amount of fantastic handmade items.
>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
No, I'll do the same floor layout I did last year. I have a nicer camera now, so my lighting won't be hard to manage.
>How much did your wardrobe grow?
I think I sold as much as I bought, so it'll be comparable to last year.
>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
Of course. Wardrobe posts take plenty of effort.
>Where will you post?
Livejournal.

I am planning to add a section to my wardrobe post for my own reference, where I'm going to try and recall how I managed to get each dress. I look at my closet now and I'm not as excited as I used to be. Some dresses were dream items, and now that I have them... I think they're just dresses. I need to recall how much work I did for each one, how long I waited, and why I wanted it. I'd also like to think of items to add to my collection next year.

I'm making a wardrobe post! My favorite ones are the ones that don't have much offbrand. Those small ones with mostly taobao are so disappointing. I was thinking of doing a post because I need to take a bunch of proof pics for my sales.
Would it be ok to do a "saying goodbye to" part where I include the pictures of these pieces or would that be obnoxious?
And if it's not obnoxious, I should probably post after the pieces are sold, yes? Otherwise it feels like a sales thread/ad?
I don't want people to get the wrong idea.

I'm skipping out on doing a wardrobe post this year because I only got like 3 new dresses since last year but I've already been refreshing LJ religiously to see others' closets and it's still only that one post that's up. It makes me sad, I know everybody's using IG now but I hate that format for this. Even worse when they upload collages, as if the pictures weren't already tiny enough. my thing is i have a wardrobe around 60 main pieces and not much has changed aside from buying stuff here and there. it doesn't feel worth it rephotographing the other 50-some things that haven't changed even though i'd like to participate.

>Are you making a wardrobe post this year?
Yes, for the first time actually. I'm finally happy with my wardobe in terms of wearing them and reflecting stuff I like.
>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
People I know in real life mainly, otherwise general interest for people who wear gothic and or some classic.
>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
Didn't watch too many, only those of some friends really. Wanna check out more this year.
>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
I've got a room for my clothes alone, and a mannequin. But other than that not much.
>How much did your wardrobe grow?
I sold almost all I began with over the past time, and bought new stuff, over the past two years. Wardobe is small even tho I wear lolita for 3/4 years because of that. I never made a wardobe post before tho, so I don't think it matters much.
>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
I guess. More people seem to do that chalange now, but honestly, I loved the "have a look in their closet" feel of a normal wardobe post. I hope it doesn't dissapear.
>Where will you post
Tumblr. Other then general FB and /cgl/ I don't do that much concerning lolita on social media. I own an instagram but only use it for following some tattoo artist, and Twitter for some give aways and following public traffic news in winter. Otherwise I only got FB for social stuff, and Tumblr for posting stuff. I've got an old LJ account, but I've never really been active on it. Actually, I already posted, but as I'm rather inactive so I'm not sure if many people even notice. But as I see no one really linking their own posts I don't want to self-post as I'm not sure if that's the intention or just discuss about it.

I preffer dress form/mannequin. Then I can see worn shape better, and with that, get a better idea how it looks in real life without having a certain coord or style attached, just the item. I actually don't like videos, and preffer the old-fashioned long list of stuff as I can calmly look at the photo's in my own tempo and way, calmly, zooming in on details if I want, without people talking and showing off how great it is. I kinda like the feeling as if I'm calmly checking out someones warobe.

>>10069890
Personally I excluded stuff I'm trying to sell or wanna sell soon and only posted the rest. But if it's only a few items I don't mind them included either.

Yep. My wardrobe takes up the entire second bedroom of my place, so it takes me a long time to photograph everything and edit the pics. I'm about 1/4 of the way through my main pieces, so far. How many main pieces is ideal for you, anons?

I'm about to start photographing my wardrobe (would have started WAY sooner, but life was too hectic) and honestly I'm kind of dreading it. I have 76 main pieces, probably 30 blouses, tons of accessories, etc. If I get too stressed then I'll just do a post that includes main pieces, but I'd like to try to do it all, but damn, it's daunting... I used to think my ideal was 45, but it's incredible how quickly that number got lost with cheap secondhand and how many nice solids have been released lately.

>> No.10079643

>>10079371
I think the largest my closet ever got to was 50+ main pieces (mostly JSKs and a couple of skirts/OPs) - then I moved countries and it made me take a good look at what I was and wasn't keeping. Because I can't wear most of my pieces at work I've been trying to keep it <30, but over the last couple of years I've snuck out to 35. For someone who's a weekend/days off-lita with other styles that I'm into, it's more than enough really.
If you're really overwhelmed, do dress and skirt donuts for your main pieces, and fold your blouses to show the details and take them in group photos.

>> No.10079821

I used to think 30 was my ideal number but when I started to make more money I ended up with 78 main-pieces. It gave me some sort of anxiety/made me feel unhappy so I tried to make several capsule wardrobes with what I had to try to figure out which pieces are most versatile. It made closet cleaning so much fun. Now I have 32 main-pieces and desu I want even less to save space and so I will wear what I have more often.

>> No.10079836

>>10079371
Around 20 - 25 is ideal for me. At one point I had twice that but looking at my wardrobe gave me anxiety because there was so much I didn’t wear. I Sort of konmari’d my dresses and I have no regrets. There were certain dresses that made me happiest or I could coordinate easily that I gravitated towards all the time. It felt good to get rid of the fluff. The extra space and cash were nice too.

After the pieces culling the other parts of my wardrobe was easy because I could sell anything that didn’t match any main pieces anymore.

I’m not a daily lolita, more like weekly or once in a while, so 20 dresses is more than enough for me.

>> No.10079855

>>10079371
Ideal? Ideally it's enough that I have the space for. I don't really have a number goal because I like having options. I never have to worry about anything being in the mail still for an upcoming event or concern over an item being too simple or too dressy. I can always find something to wear. I have no problem keeping items I love. I don't understand why it's necessary to wear them so often as some people seem obsessed with. I wear it when it suits the occasion. Obviously my more casual dresses will get more use, but that doesn't mean I should sell my fancier dresses. I'm not going to sell my wedding dress, why would I sell my fancier event dresses?

I might as well. I initially wasn't because i felt my wardrobe is too small, but I've changed my mind. I'll do it when all my stuff comes in. Likely in mid feb.
>Whose wardrobes do you want to see?
Everyone with hospitality doll in black so i can be reminded of all the times i missed out on it. Other than that, anybody with a ton of meta or moitie.
>Whose did you like from last year, and why?
I don't remember usernames.
>Do you have any special photo setups planned?
No. I don't have a nice camera or a pretty room so eh.
>How much did your wardrobe grow?
I'm in the process of building a wardrobe so it grew a whole lot.
>Do you think there will be less posts again this year?
I'd imagine people with large wardrobes who haven't added much in the last year might pass on posting. I don't know.
