Really want to get into cosplay but I’ve been scared to do it because of all the racism that gets thrown around sometimes when someone does a cosplay outside their race. But I feel so limited in characters who are black that I actually like or know exist. How do you guys feel about this? Am I just overthinking it? Is the racism not as common as it seems?

Don't cosplay. You clearly don't have the thick skin for it. Let alone the proper color.

You're letting a few loudmouths on the internet scare you. Just do what you want, unless you're like taping your eyes to "look more Asian" or the character is just an offensive joke and nothing else, I can't imagine even SJWs getting that steamed over it. Most of the drama usually happens when a white person uses body paint in a manner evocative of blackface and you obviously won't have that issue.

Cosplaying outside race is fine just wear a damn wig. I keep seeing black cosplayers use their actual hair for whatever reason.

>I can't imagine even SJWs getting that steamed over it.

dude sjws are the ones who are like ANYONE CAN COSPLAY ANYTHING and screaming discrimination at every turn. they'd probably scream racism at the fact that this velma cosplayer should wear a wig, even though that's the expectation no matter who you are

protip from brown girl

if you want, wear color contacts
if you have poor craftsmanship anyone and everyone will bully you but if you follow my first tip you will be fine no matter what

>M-MUH RACISM
You don't know what the fuck racism is you little pissant. You fucks think that if someone isn't bouncing off the walls praising you nonstop for not being white it's racism. Do what the fuck you want, idiot. no one gives two shits about your cosplay

Do it! But be prepared, some random tumblr SJW might be annoying. But that's just a little downside. Don't let it get into your way. If you enjoy it and are happy, that's what matters.

NVM it's supercon.

i like it how blacks can cosplay what ever the fuck they want and put their skin whiter or not .But if you are white and put your skin a bit dark then you are racist. fuck logic

>> No.10003565

>>10003509
Personally, I don't give a fuck, people can do whatever they want, but there is a form of logic to it. The reason a white person darkening their skin is "problematic" to SJW types is because of the history of offensive blackface acts, but there is no similar historical baggage associated with black people lightning their skin.

I mean just wear some concealer in the appropriate color and it should be okay

whiteface looks just as bad as blackface. use your natural skintone, matching or not, and cosplay inside your race if you really give a shit about being ~the most accurate ever~

I think I saw her (Velma) say she doesn’t like to cosplay with straight hair cause it looks like shit on her, And she’s wearing a wig so does that count

I don’t think I’ve seen someone lighten their skin for cosplay though

Really want to get into cosplay but I’ve been scared to do it because of all the fatphobia that gets thrown around sometimes when someone does a cosplay outside their size. But I feel so limited in characters who are fat that I actually like or know exist. How do you guys feel about this? Am I just overthinking it? Is the fatphobia not as common as it seems?
