It's only been 3+ months since Admin said they'd have the marketplace all up and running, and I don't mean that shit excuse for a forum as the "marketplace". He was taking suggestions but I doubt he'll listen to any of them. The biggest disappointment to me is the fact that people didn't take 2 seconds to read the simple rules. It origainally stated the marketplace functions "as is" and that coscom took no part in the money transactions etc. Soooo why not ban the repeat offenders/spammers? Too simple a solution, must destroy all things to address a small problem.

Oh my god, don't get me started on the "marketplace" forum. There's always the same three "commissioners" posting in every thread asking if the person placing the WTB thread needs a wig. They're ALL SHITTY wig stylists that need to learn the basics. I'm talking about kkroxas2011 (annoying as fuck and does some of the worst work I've ever seen), brilikesmoose (very shoddy work; have you seen her Rapunzel wigs?), and Illinafli (revealed to be a scammer). It's always those three derps. I'm especially sick of kkroxas2011's dumbass bumping her WTB threads that never move trying to low-ball talented commissioners for dirt cheap quotes for costumes.

Coscom seems to be the same to me. Boring really. The market place pretty much sucks due to already mentioned. It seems there's very little real interaction between users on the other boards unless you're asking for help.
In general and offtopic, it feels more like I'm just reading twitter comments and facebook status updates.
A lot of talking but very little interaction. Only a few people talk to eachother really.

Profile page is devoid of anything, forums still busted, and it functions very much like a Web 1.0 site from the late 90's maybe early 00's. Also LOL I still like how there's a space to enter your CURE ID but there was never any linking to your CURE account. My guess was that Admin burned his Japan contacts/connections hence why they only carried Japanese wigs for a short amount of time, never even offered some products they said they would carry e.g. goldyboard, and no longer submit pics on behalf of coscom for CosSnaps. He must've pissed them off somehow.

I left originally because it was boring as fuck - nobody spoke, it was just all one sided posts about cosplay-in-progress. Shit, if I wanted that, I'd just post about it on Tumblr. Only reason I came back at all is to find a commissioner and upload new photos.

The icon upload never fucking works for me despite following their rules about size and file type, so I've got an old and terrible picture for an icon on my cosplay that I'm fucking killing to change. Jfc, if they have old runs of wigs, don't mix them with the new "improved" stock. Just put them on sale and people will buy them anyway. I just think it sucks to buy what you think is the latest version, then find out you got the old, shitty, problematic version.

Every time I have hope for Coscom, they shit it up.

The Marketplace has been down since either March or April. They said then it would take a few weeks to a month to get the new one up. I just checked this morning and they've got an admin topic going from a week ago and it's asking for suggestions on what to put in the Marketplace.

Six months and we're still on fucking suggestions. We're only marketplace-less because some damn whiny newbies baawed to staff because they didn't know a scam when they saw one and never got what they paid for.

I've liked being an anon here on /cgl/ far better then a part of coscom. People give good advice and are generally more helpful. Also, the fact people also believe the same thing that I do in regards to anime conventions and unrelated subjects like MLP and Homestuck.

Had he taken a few minutes to ponder possible consequences of wearing a full military-style cosplay outside a con, there wouldn't have been an issue any way. I don't think a lot of newer, dare I say younger, cosplayers can think ahead and see possible consequences of their actions. I know it is part of the developmental changes for teens but it almost seems like the development is getting delayed with many people.

JasonTerror, the dude's an idiot. When he first joined he'd rant in text speak and no one knew what he wanted. Now, he does seem to write better, but the idiocy remains.

Tumblr isn't really a great place for networking per se or that's not how it's used primarily. I see it getting used more as a way to post what you want and it gets viewed, reblogged, commented on, and shared. It's not set up for networking like Facebook where you can easily and directly interact with other users, but you can follow people and watch for their updates etc.To me it's like any other place to post pics. I'm sure there are different things you can do depending on the layout you go with, but yea, most people just post and reblog.

As far as I know, there's no way to have a "community" per se on tumblr. I've only had my account for a little over a year and don't post daily so maybe there are features I don't know of, but "community" features never jumped out at me in any of the menus and options.

I use a separate account on FB for cosplay because it's easier and my career would be affected negatively with everything in 1 account. It's also easier so people can tag me in con pics or whatever and I don't have to worry about privacy features etc. changing and resetting [which used to happen every time they did something].

I don't really like the idea of making a fan page but I guess that's what you have to do on FB if you want to play by their rules or if you want one. There's something about them that seemed to scream "Inflated sense of self-importance" with making your own fanpage which is why I don't want one, plus I hear people say that there aren't the same features as with regular accounts.

I think it depends on what you're doing.

Full-blown, very involved, "Saved this cos for Saturday at a con" cosplays or anything that will make you stick out just seems like a bad idea. You never know who will be confused and call the cops or other situations like that. It's one thing if you're doing a shoot but a completely different matter if you're in an obvious costume just to fart around town and be all speshul and are doing it for the reactions. Yes, it's a free country and you're free to wear costumes at most any time, but it doesn't mean I have to think you're witty, smart, creative, unique, or special for doing so. No, I tend to think these people [doing obvious cosplays for no reason other than to freak people out or get looks] are needy little twats that will always wonder why they got any negative reactions, and they tend to be on the younger end of the spectrum. However, age isn't everything. "Younger" would include people who are emotionally and mentally immature like Shana05 and her epic mall cosplays.

In the case of photoshoots, I encourage people to do things properly e.g. get permission if you're shooting in a populated area or are on private property so you don't take the people by surprise or run into legal issues [where applicable, of course].

If it's a cosplay in the sense of "teehee, I have a certain color pants and jacket on, no one will really know it's [insert character]'s outfit unless they know the show/game/etc" or some jewelry/accessories, or a "casual" version, then yea, no one will likely give a shit because they probably won't notice.

Thing is, is that with something like this you're not just paying for time and fabric, you're paying for their skill in making something better than you could.
And well, they lack skill. I'm not saying they wont improve, but that costume doesn't look particularly well made.

Then again I was rarely going on coscom to begin with for a while. (Used to be a regular.) After a while I just deleted my account and never started a new one back up.

It's a fantastic site for 12-15 year olds who are just starting out and have absolutely no idea where to go and what to do... But after a while it's just the same old same old. (And I'd get surprised at how some of the people who were 18+ acted very immaturely for their age....)

But I never have regretted making my coscom account! I would spend HOURS posting. I even made the majority of my best friends through someone I met on coscom!

I replied to the OP saying that while the wig he suggested WOULD work, it would also require moderate modification as some of their wigs aren't the best for wearing "as is" if they're designed for heavy styling or spiking and that wigs from other brands wouldn't require as much modification.

Next time there's an Arda thread on there, I'll post. I'm not on there much anymore so people can rage all they like. Truthfully, I have had some pretty awful experiences with Arda wigs and I bought mine at conventions so I didn't have the whole /did it ship 6 weeks after ordering?/ fiasco but it didn't stop them from being horrible products. My guess is that they display the newer versions of wigs and will sell you an older version with problems because the wigs I got all seemed to have issues that were supposedly fixed. They had bald spots, were ratty, etc. etc. But still, that's shady to mix versions and sell them all the same. They could easily sell down the old versions with even a 5 to 10% discount and people would still buy them, possibly just for wefts or whatever. I really tried to like Arda and Coscom wigs because the concept of getting a wig in a week seems awesome, but with all the issues I've run into with both companies, I'll just keep buying from my favorite overseas sellers.
