I always feel this is kinda like the "I wanted Mary Magdalene but couldn't afford it so I got this instead" dress from Bodyline. They got those from more brands.

Just enough differences to not be a replica, but also still obviously trying to steal the feel of it. Also never as good as what "inspired" them. Even the fabric is like a cheap knock-off. Same colour, same lines between the roses. You need to look close to see it are different roses...

Also, this one is altered. The original Bodyline dress has no lace on the sleeves making them the same as the MM sleeves but with cheap lacing instead of proper bows. This girl also changed the ugly buttons for floppy bows making the point I try to make even more clear.

I didn't know that girl to be honest, I just find it funny that the few often praised as "nicer newer dresses" are obviously based upon brand dresses with slight alterations.

Ive always wondered if the bodyline skirts were good for nanchatte. Id like a nice giant haul for skirts and to pick my other pieces more carefully. Bodyline seifuku skirts from their full sets are generally thin and not great (top+skirt+bow), but their individual skirts and skirts with bows are fairly hefty, have an adjustable waistband and side pockets.

Nanchatte anon here. Bodyline's skirts are pretty much 50/50 when it comes to quality. Some you get are thin, lightweight, and costume quality but others are weighty, thick fabric, and are really good.

I know >>9983297 says the individual skirts with the bows are the good quality ones but I've found that to be the case maybe 3 out of 4 times. I got 3 really good ones exactly as they described then the 4th was costume quality with no adjustable waistband or hidden pocket.

I wish there was a way to tell going off the stock photos but if you happen to see a little metal piece on the waistband, there's your sign it's good.

Here's a picture of my cosplay-nanchatte fusion I wore years ago with one of the good skirts. This thing survived several wash and dry cycles without losing any pleats and did great holding my cellphone all day.

I have the original and while it's not the most amazing dress ever, it's a soft, thick velveteen. The lace is not cut perfectly and looks frayed in some areas. Perfectly acceptable for Bodyline. It is good on longer torsos, as the skirt is narrow and there is no waist seam. I'm a tall lolita at 5'8" and it hits just above my knee, but fits well in the shoulders and arms. One of my faves from Bodyline.

I bought single skirts (just the skirt, no bow) and they are all really good quality. I got 4, and 3 are thick and soft, with an adjustable waistband and a pocket. The other is nice too, adjustable waist, pocket, but the material is a bit thinner and feels a bit cheaper. I do not recommend the seifuku sets, all of them I have have been a obviously rough polyester fairly below-average quality costume fabric.

I have the original and it looks like shit. I'm 5'9" and while it fits okay, the fabric is much too thick in places (around the collar) and looks more like a costume than a pretty lolita piece. The lace, iirc, is bodylines shitty tulle lace and looks super cheap. I wouldn't recommend it at all. I beg to differ, though, mileage does vary with how your weight is distributed. Shoes are fine, but they get rarely restocked.
Some of their accessories and leg-wear are alright too.
Blouses seems to be okay for beginners or to pad your wardrobe, but many people don't like the fabric they're made of (very sturdy material unless it's a chiffon blouse).
Dresses and main pieces are a very individual thing just as you said. Many of their solid pieces are pretty decent. On top of my head I remember L087, L462, L325, L348 and L412 being safe picks. Same can be said for the sailor dress costume839. If you are uncertain about a piece, better ask twice before you buy.

Tbh a lot of their good stuff is already long gone and the things they offered for lolita until recently were mostly left overs of unpopular sizes and colors or just straight up unusable rugs that are made of awful materials and poorly designed. So putting together a whole coord with what they offer nowadays might be quite difficult depending on your size and prefered style. It may change in future if the new people in charge of BL decide to rebuild the lolita section, but for now it's really just an option to grab one or two things when sales are happening.

P-mail is akin to Airmail. I'd never heard of it before but it's definitely slower than EMS but faster than SAL.

Only problem is with P-Mail it says you're limited to 1 item (or 2 'fashion accessories') before they'll charge you additional fee for it (so basically like Airmail weight restrictions). I don't know if you can go past that without getting an additional charge or not but I just break my orders down into two item sets and never had a problem.

What's the quality of bodyline wigs like? Good enough to pass for lolita or shitty costume tier?

Like most Bodyline they're hit or miss depending on what you get. If you go for the natural looking ones then they're pretty good for the price (especially now at under $10). I've got some coming in a week or two I can review but I've not been disappointed by ones I've had in the past. They tend to be a lot better than the stock photos make them out to be.

I got my order today and I'm disappointed. I ordered shoes 522 and a nanchatte skirt. The shoes I already own in a different color and they fit me perfect and are super comfortable, but the ones I just ordered are narrow and slightly smaller, so they don't fit my wide feet comfortably like the old ones did. I'm hoping that they can be "broke in" and will fit better after.

The skirt I got in 2L, after measuring myself a few times to make sure I had the right size, and it's also slightly too small. I'm so angry at myself for that. I should have played it safe and bought a 4L. Fuck my medication.

If the shoes dont end up breaking in for me after a couple wears I'll give that a try. I'm so disappointed because the old version fit me so well and I just assumed they would be exactly the same. Wide feet are such a pain.

The skirt does fit better if I wear it high on my waist. It's really nice other than being a little small and being unlined. I'm trying to be optimistic about loosing the extra chub I'm currently dealing with, so hopefully it will end up fitting a little better eventually.

The re-release is really, really nice, easily my best Bodyline item. It's not bunchy re: velveteen, the velveteen itself is really nice and heavy, and the lace is cut evenly. It's nicer than some of my newer AP honestly.

I have broad shoulders and was worried it would be too small there, but the M size is perfect. I would recommend this dress immensely.

Yep, I'm the anon with the package on the same plane. I called usps customer service today and the lady I spoke with said it is probably in customs, and she's not sure why it's taking so long. She said if it still hadn't moved in a few days to file an international inquiry so they can go look for it. She also said that sometimes it just misses scans and can show up at your house without warning. Hopefully soon we will have our stuff.
