I would like to ask in general, for those who live in SF, what’s the comm like? I’ve been invited to a meet (im from Washington and my comm is chill af and mine doesn’t have any men or “men”) in SF and I just wanted to get an honest anon opinion, if there is one to give. Kinda get my feelers out a bit.

>> No.9969594

>>9969593

I find it really odd out of all the things you had to mention 'men.'

But also I feel like it would be a good time to create a local comm thread again since this is a good question to start off with

I'm not part of the comm myself, but I've heard SF can be pretty cliquey.

>> No.9969597

>>9969594

Asking if there are men, not brolitas, in the comm is odd?? Of all things? Really? Didn’t we just have a thread about that weirdo who doesn’t even own any Lolita pieces and asks about she play, and my question is odd? Interesting.

Well by men, I mean just that. Since SF is like literally the queer capital of the country (not saying anything g negative about that, just stating) does that comm let anyone in? I have a bad habit of becoming a real big bitch when men in dresses try to talk to me and get my Facebook info or whatever. It’s differnt if it’s a brolita. It’s another thing when it’s just a dude being creepy as fuck. You know?

>> No.9969598

>>9969597

Lol, I'll let someone else answer that.

>> No.9969602

>>9969597

We get a mix. I would like to think we have some of the best Brolitas. But sometimes (only a few times, out mods are really good) you’ll get the odd ball.

I personally think the 21 or older events have a higher class of Lolitas (IMHO), and tend to be more fun than the open to the general public ones.

But as the other anon mentioned, we are very clicky. I think it has to do with the fact AP and BtSSB flag ship stores are here, so we tend to be part of tiny, tiny, tiny, brand war. But honestly, 97% of us are really nice. At least everyone to me is nice! And I’m nice back.

>> No.9969627

>>9969597
So, a few years ago SF comm didn't have any mods whatsoever, and there was an incident with a sissy who wormed his way into the comm because people in SF do tend to be open minded where he ended up threatening violence against another member and was banned. That opened up a floodgate of people who admitted they actually had been made to feel really uncomfortable and avoided coming to meets because of him. Since then we've been more discerning about who we let into the comm. Of course we still have brolitas, and all kinds of queer/nonbinary/trans people etc. However, we try really hard not to let creeps into the comm. Hope that makes you feel more comfortable, anon!

I wish they had kept the uniforms more like in the books. When you do a HP inspired lolita coord, I think you should take inspiration from the books instead of the films. The films made them too muggle-like whereas in the books they were often wearing their cute wizard hats.

Okay I'm fine with everyone doing as they please but why is this an acceptable mentality? Someone had to design the shoes too and they are not getting any more money out of it than from print replicas. I understand buying shoes that are no longer made by original designer or shoes that are only similar to an excisting pair. But when there are stores selling multiple straight up replicated designs I'm sorry but the whole "there is only so many ways to slap a bow on a shoe" argument doesn't work anymore.

I have size 27cm feet. I will literally never be able to wear brand shoes and it sucks.
I absolutely support shoe design replicas, and sometimes bag design replicas, as long as they expand available colors and are not a super specific design. The design replicas I agree with are of simple designs or are more inspired than straight up copies.

brand designers are definitely secure because (ideally) they source high quality materials and include hard to execute details which you can only get from the brand. I appreciate shops like Custom House, Antaina, and Angelic Imprint who are offering actual lolita shoes for the giantess. Even if they aren't brand quality, they still match the aesthetic, have appropriate details, and are cute.

Antaina also offers plenty of remixes on original styles put out by brand and I appreciate that (different heel height, thicker straps, detachable bows etc.). AP does not lose money when I buy taobao tea parties. I'm not a shoe customer they cater to. Shoes are essential, especially for sweet, and I refuse to wear fugly ebay shoes.

Rest assured that brand beats out these other shops in quality.

I'm sorry you have big feet and that sucks but please do not pretend your only option is design replicas. Support the models that are not replicated. The reason why these stores are able to sell their shoes in low prices is because they steal the original design and that's how they make profit. It's an exactly the same way with print replicas and I'm sure more lolitas buy replica shoes and bags instead of the real deal than design replicas. Supporting them is helping to expand their business which eventually hurts the brands - even if they would never get your shoe money. I have never been disappointed with the quality of my brand shoes but I still aknowledge their cost is not comparable to replica shoes sold straight from the factory without quality control. Antaina is really shit quality and not worth the price anyways.

I really hope there would be more options available for people with bigger feet but sadly I'm pretty sure custom sized independent designs will not be a thing in a while. Even I would have use for shoes like that too.

>The reason why these stores are able to sell their shoes in low prices is because they steal the original design

wrong. they do not steal the design, they imitate it. these shops do not have access to brand designer files. many of the inspired designs haven't been released by the brand for 5+ years. the prices are cheaper because these shops are strictly a shoe-focused operation, they have access to factories and bulk material options.
None of this is comparable to print replicas. Illustrations, logos, characters...these are all off limits. you literally cannot trademark heart buckles and a double ankle-strap.

I have two pairs of antaina that are great; plus a wonderful pair of sweet secret shop heels, and several simple bodyline pairs: all inspired by brand designs.
the shops I mentioned all make original designs as well. People buy brand shoes because of look, color-matching, and quality. People buy offbrand/taobao shoes for look and price and often customization options.

I am very against actual replicas. I wouldn't give a second look to an usakumya replica sold on taobao because that is despicable i m o. I do not mind replica tea parties or RHS. if it's a simple design it is fair game. I don't even want to call them replicas.

>I'm pretty sure custom sized independent designs will not be a thing in a while

Do you seriously think, for example, Antaina doesn't purchase the brand shoes and make their designs based on that? Of course eventually they are able replicate more desings using the same base and even create some of their own mixing up few existing ones. Replica makers doesn't have access to brand files either (excluding the factory rejects) and yet they are replicating and not imitating. And btw, teaparty replicas would be illegal for me to import so while it's not possible for trademark parts of design the combination of spesific elements is a design that can be copied. For example, Bodyline has the heals with identical straps and bows to teaparties. Those would be acceptable but exact copy of teaparties not.

>None of this is comparable to print replicas. Illustrations, logos, characters...
Yet someone had to design the shoes too. It's similar work, you know?

>I have two pairs of antaina that are great;
And I have several pairs of Antaina and as I said they are crappy. Especially for the price. I have also several pairs of brand shoes and I would never buy from Antaina again. But imo personal experiences isn't really worth in this discussion because we are talking wheter or not design replicas are right and not how good their quality is.

> I do not mind replica tea parties or RHS. if it's a simple design it is fair game. I don't even want to call them replicas.
But where is the line? If a shoe is replicated with out a logo how does it differ from a Usakumya replicated without a logo? Usakumya is pretty unique but let's say something like Lyrical Bunny from AP was replicated. Would you still be against it?

>they are a thing right now, as I type this. Antaina, CCF...some smaller Taobao shops.
I wrote independent designs not something Antaina does. I also said non-replicated designs should be supported so why are you getting so mad?

I think “supporting replica companies” was the big thing there. OP said they had big feet and couldn’t buy brand anyway.

The thing is, if the money goes to known replicamakers whose entire business is making replicas, then bigfeet OP is basically encouraging them to make other replicas, including making replicas of shoes that are currently in production, in sizes where other girls have no issues buying brand shoes but simply chose not to and then lie and say they have 27cm feet (I mean, are you gonna carry around a tape measure and check?).

Plus, while OP might buy their shoes from somewhere decent, it just opens the floodgates for a race to the bottom, if lolitas won’t bat an eye at $100 replicas, then surely there’s a clueless newbie that will pay $50 for some cardboard-level replica of replica shoes. This is basically Milanope’s entire business — you don’t want the original, you chose a cheap replica. So they send you the shittiest, crappiest dress available, because aren’t you the one that chose replicas over the original?

Going to an actual shoemaker/cordwainer solves a lot of that. They’re quality shoes at a higher price, and presumably make their business making other shoes than replicas. So you aren’t encouraging replicamakers to kill the brands, and because it's more expensive than the original, not cheaper, you aren’t encouraging newbies to cheapen the fashion going the cheap replica route either.

Having shoes that look like replicas is easily solved anyway. Just have it made from pink-dyed real snake leather or some other distinctly expensive leather that replicamakers wouldn’t use and now it’s distinctly different.

A secondary brand to what, exactly?
From my understanding of it, IW is a bit unpopular because it's the "Meta of classic brands" in that it's not purely classic but produces all sorts of substyles, like it's too cutesy for classic and too classic for sweet, and because their cuts are a bit off and their quality doesn't compare to VM and MM.
I can't argue with these points, in all honesty, but they're still my top favorite brand so I don't really care.

Even if you use the shoemaking software packages (like Delcam) it's not as simple as copy paste, and if you do it the oldschool way it is very much an interpretation rather than a copy. Every once in a while there's an argument in the shoemaking groups about copying designs. With a few exceptions (like copying an ornate inlay or stitch pattern, which would be equivalent to copying a print on a dress), people accept that it's normal. For example.. how many people make oxfords? It isn't even a copy by this point. It's just a standard type of shoe.

I think the one that's arguing FOR replica shoes might be roleplayers, they know replica annoy us so it'll get replies.

Everyone answering with solutions is probably real, even if you don't like their taste in shoes or you don't agree with painting shoes.

I thought that big feet OP whining they needed replicas and then dissing all other suggestions is either trolling, a roleplayer or just a stubborn child.

But I also thought that maybe some other lurker anons have the same big feet issue, and so would welcome shoe recs and suggestions anyway so I posted a few things they could try (I didn't post any of the shoe recs though).

Not to mention people who keep their reptiles with small kids. Reptiles have salmonella ffs.

>that fat ita rabbit or whatever her name was on egl would go on about how she only used real pearls for the quality, and post detailed paragraphs about seamstressing and quality, but always looked like hot garbage.
>fat ita rabbit
You can say Tifferet.

Last year by a brand called morning glory I think. Its unavailable now. And secondhand it's probably worth way more than the list price.
I just want a good pumpkin bag. Those fucking lovepainandstitches ones are so cute but they sell out in a second because of bots and the lazy store owner takes months to make them. Not to mention they cost a fortune
