I currently fit comfortably into the JetJ Size 1 dresses I own without stretching the fabric or anything but I'm very conscious of the fact that I'm almost at the maximum measurements and always worry whether size 1 will still fit. Also women in my family tend to gain weight as we get older. Should I buy Dragon-chan in size 1 to for me now or should I get size 2 so it's future-proof?

Normally I'd just get the Size 1 and sell if I outgrow it, but this is a DD that I intend to keep forever.

How do you deal with big feet? Not only in length, but also in width.

I've been trying to find shoes suitable for gothic or kuro sweet that are comfortable to wear and easy-going on your feet even after a couple hours of walking. Tried several different shoes from normie stores and thought only the length (about EU42-42) would be a problem for me. Only now, after almost a year of shoe hunting, it dawned on me that it's not necessarily the length, but actually the width of my feet that is giving me a hard time to find fitting shoes.

Customization would be the obvious answer, but I'm interested if there are any recommendable stores out there that do offer wide sizes in general? Are there any types of shoes that I should avoid to not make my duckfeet look even bigger?

Fluevog sometimes has shoes for wider feet, but their sizing is a nightmare as it varies wildly from shoe to shoe. As a person with wide feet as well, I would also reccomend Bait Footwear, Demonia, Chelsey Crew, and Poetic Licence / Irregular Choice. But the designs from IC don't always lend very well if you're looking for a plain black gothic shoe.

I've carefully handwashed a pretty old petticoat that hasn't been worn in a long time. Everything worked fine. My only problem is that it for some reason smelled really fishy while wet. The smell more or less disappeared once it dried. I still went ahead and rinsed it another time, just for it to smell all fishy again when wet. size 9.5 ww with foot issues here. Cute shoes for jfashion are a struggle. Honestly, I like stuff from the normie brand Comfortview. You really have to shop them pretty regularly though, because 99.5% of their shoes are ugly old grandma shoes. But they sometimes get styles that will work, even if they're a little plain. I tend to accessorize with clip on shoe bows and decorations.

It really depends on the item you're coordinating with. I would say for shoes, given that most brand shoes are pleather you'll probably be fine with Taobao (also the sizing may affect you if you don't fit generic S/M/L Jap sizing)
With accessories and tights it will really depend. Some items just look nicer with particular colour or print combinations, and you may not find the more generic taobao socks/tights to work well for that - for example, if you have a unique or unusual colour such as the AaTP "iris" and you want tights in that colour or you want a particular colour combo, like lavender x sax blue. The same goes for accessories - if you're not planning on neutrals some brand colours can be a bitch to match (AP lavender, AaTP iris, some of IWs weird beige stuff) and therefore it can be worth shopping for matching second hand accessories. The other thing would be less-common print motifs.

>>9961273
ROC if you want lace up boots, I have amazing leather boots from them. Otherwise, some of the older TUK styles were ok, Ellie shoes is a smaller brand and a competitor to Demonia/Pleaser, otherwise you can go for the generic taobao stores if desired.

Yes, but I still wouldn't buy them new from China over secondhand from Japan. You do have to hope the seller accurately represents the shoes, but I've found in general, they do. Just don't buy the extremely cheap ones as they are almost always on their last legs (like 1000 yen AP shoes). Secondhand is just better when buying pleather anyway because it's better for the environment to reuse than to create more.

The bolero, right?

- remove any detachable pieces. Place each item in its own laundry bag, make sure the bags are in good condition and there's nothing that will snag the knitting
- machine wash, COLD water only, use the delicates setting if you have it. I do not know what happens if you use hot water.
- dry it flat in the shade. I lay it flat across a drying rack indoors. Do not leave it in sunlight. Do not hang it, the water weight will distort the shape.
- If you must tumble dry it, you can do it on no-heat setting.

For the skirt, same rules except you can hang it up to dry.

It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it, the list of things to avoid is longer than the actual list of actions.

Depends on how far you're willing to go.

Ultimate: The brand that makes most of burando ribbons (most, not all) is Shindo.com, you can browse their catalogue at https://sic.shindo.com/ then hop over to Rakuten and pop in the exact item code number of the ribbon you're looking to replace, and buy it from one of the retailers there. Or pop in "shindo リボン" if you want to start at Rakuten itself and wade through ribbons. It's ultimate-tier because before you even ship it the ribbon that matches rucksack-sized Usakumya's ear bows are fucking $30 per meter (but it's an exact match to Usakumya's ear bows).

As for the rest, you can search eBay or online shops with the right terms -- using the term "double-sided" will weed out most of the flimsy wrapping ribbons that you can't use, "Matte" will give you the cotton finish ribbons. I've found that "double-sided satin ribbon" to be a bit of a gamble, though. Sometimes it comes as a dull satin finish but other times it's very shiny and weird-looking. The other ribbon that looks like grosgrain but has scalloped edges is called petersham ribbon.

Alternatively, you can also trawl taobao shops for "Korean ribbon", the shops selling materials for hair accessories DIY tend to have a huge variety of different ribbon finishes, a lot of which look pretty good even if you can find the exact one that matches the ribbon you want to replace.

I started with Bodyline bloomers and they rustled like crazy. Brand bloomers were so much quieter and so much softer to boot. So sometimes they have the look down, and you wouldn't know what you were missing until you got some brand ones to compare with.

But I bet there's a nice indie or homemade or taobao brand out there that can make something in between, not as expensive and not as nice but still comfy and cute. I guess it does depend on what you consider "good enough" to be worth spending money on and what kind of extra quality is "too much" to be worth the extra money, though.

I think you'll benefit more from doing more research to understand the lolita aesthetic better, than having a mentor. The latter can help but you don't need someone to hold your hand to see that the shoes you considered vs pic related are very different aesthetically, and one of them works with lolita while the other clearly doesn't.

I bought a veil with cotton embroidery to go with a coord, but when it arrived it was white instead of ivory. It doesn't fit my coord. How hard is tea-dyeing and could it help?

>> No.9963494

>>9963485
Have you looked at pictures of the fashion that inspire you? There are all sorts of styles in lolita, classic itself can have many different forms and influences. Look at pictures of lolitas whose style you admire, hell even watch some period dramas for more style inspiration, try to recognize what elements (cuts, shapes, textures, even colors) that you enjoy and then try to find these elements within lolita. It's less complicated than it sounds.
I suggest you try looking at it as a fun learning experience than a challenge, the concern of looking ita may do the opposite of what you want it to and at the end of the day you should want to have fun in this fashion.

I tea dyed a headdress - it was a weird shade of white and matched nothing in my wardrobe. Is the veil polyester? If it is, the embroidery will hold the color better and dye faster, therefore will be darker than the rest of the veil no matter what you dye it with. Otherwise I’d suggest getting a small piece of similar fabric and trying it out on that first to figure out how strong you need to brew the tea and how long you’ll have to keep the veil in to achieve the desired color. There’s really no exact formula for this, unfortunately. Try to use black loose leaf tea - there’s less dust and smaller particles in it. Also, tea shows up as a much warmer shade of cream compared to coffee, almost has a red undertone to it.

Is closet child really going to charge me 81 dollars in shipping for a $265 EMS order? I didn't expect it to below 50 but since everyone has said it's been reasonable I didn't think it'd be 1/3 of my order. Is epacket worth saving the money for? It's definitely a weight thing, what did you order? I just ordered stuff that totalled ¥23600 and my shipping was only ¥935 since it was light items and I could do e-packet. Did you buy a bunch of shoes or something?

In a good bit of news for you, their initial shipping request is based on average weights for your general item catagory (that are probably a bit conservatively high I bet so they don't lose money). One time they charged me about $50 for shipping but later gave me about $20 back because the difference between the initial estimated weight and final weight was very different. So if they overestimated how heavy your stuff is you might get a partial refund.

No velvet or any especially heavy fabrics, but none of them are super lightweight like chiffon eiither. They did say insurance factored into shipping too. >> No.9963723

I don't know if that would be acceptable for the weight limits of e-packet (unless I'm mixing up my Japanese post types), you can try to ask for it and put in the comments that they can switch to EMS if your stuff is too heavy.

Honestly that shipping sounds kind of right - I could see it ending up being more towards ¥5000-6000 and then giving you the partial refund but that's a decent amount of stuff.

My stuff for ¥935 shipped was two pieces of jewelry and a blouse, so it's not the most comparable unfortunately.

And oof didn't say, my refund scenario I had in the past had a capelet, a vest, wristcuffs, a blouse, and a pair of tights, maybe a smidge more, so it was likely a volume of stuff that made the initial shipping estimate high but they turned out to be lighter items.

What kind of update and what mail though.

In general tracking should be useable within the week, no matter EMS or airmail or what. Most post offices show the time when the package was scanned in, so if the number isn't even useable then generally the sender hasn't even gotten it to the post office yet.

EMS just arrives faster, while airmail might show the parcel sitting in an airport for a few days because the planes/trains/etc are too full to accept your package and you paid the cheaper fare so it has to wait for another plane while the EMS packages get priority. So if it's airmail/chinese mail/anything other than straight up EMS then it's gonna sit around in various depots and postal stations a fair bit.

If the tracking stops at the boundary of a country, eg it has left the sender's country but is in limbo, then one of two things has happened -- either the package got a new tracking number (if you use track-trace.com/post it will automatically show the new tracking number for a lot of countries) because the package switched to a different country's postal service, or customs is sitting on a huge pile of packages and yours is in (a very slow) line waiting to be processed.

I feel stupid for asking. How do you guys get comfortable wearing Jfashion?

I use to wear alternative and goth clothing as a teenager, got interested in Jfashion then went through a period of wearing normal clothing. A couple years ago I got interested in fashion again and started buying Jfashion items again - sweet lolita and Spank!/fairy kei type stuff. I'm naturally shy but that never stopped me from wearing what I wanted in the past. Now I feel embarrassed over the smallest things like a pink purse or furry scarf. Maybe it's because I'm in my twenties now and feel like people will take it the wrong way if I'm in less mature feminine clothing. Any advice?

Your family and friends will understand if they care about you and it makes you happy. Why would you care about opinions of other random people? I used to be really concerned about it but as lolita grew more important to me I realised what random people think about my clothing doesn't matter more than anything else they think and slowly I stopped caring. In the end if you give something up because other people don't think it's normal or whatever you are the only person loosing something. I admit because I wear lolita daily many people fail to see me as a person and are weirded out by me and it affects some of my social contacts. I know some of them could be fun to be around otherwise but I have chosen lolita instead of people who judge others by their looks so heavily. My recommendation is to think why you love j-fashion and if giving it up because of others is worth it.

You can also get blouses really cheap on Mercari and Fril if you're fast enough and patient. I feel like almost every day I see blouses below ¥4000, though of course you have to factor in SS fees and international shipping.

I don't know exactly how bulky you are, but IW has a new cheaper label called IW White on their website, all below ¥10000 and they're still nice despite the lower price. They just don't have as many details as their more expensive ones. I own the ¥6900 jabot blouse and it's really nice, easily as nice feeling as my other IW blouses, just simple.

You just have to keep an eye out with WW and CC and check daily. Blouses tend to sell out super fast if they're not hideous or overpriced.

How forgiving are the shoulder measurements in aatp’s jackets and coats? Lolibrary specs say 36cm which seams ridiculously small especially for my swimmer shoulders...

Generally old school pieces like that have generic names anyways, and japanese secondhand tend to not name and date their oldschool / non print pieces so at least on that frontier it'd be useless info.

Thanks, though that makes me sad. Hope I'll eventually run on to some archived sales of the coat to see how much it went for.
