So there is a con i want to go to but i have no one to go there with. This is also my first con and its a 4 hour train ride away.

1. Is it advisable to go alone?
2. How easy is it to make new friends there if you are a relatively normal level of shy?
3. How much money should i bring?

>> No.9958882

1. If you do fine in crowds you'll do alright.
2. Easy if you're attractive and female, hard for anyone else.
3. Depends on what you plan on eating and how much you expect to spend in the vendor hall.

Well, if you really want to go, then go! I'm sure when you're alone you'll find some nice people to talk with. Tbh I never got friends with people there..only talked a bit but I'm also socially awkward so that explains it. I'm sure if you're not that shy, etc. You will find some friends. And money... The stuff is usually pretty expensive.. I usually bring like 80€

DO NOT fucking go to a con alone without cosplaying, youll be depressed as fuck being an invisible nobody without friends.

last con i solo cosplayed and had a signboard with "tfw no trap gf" with a feels guy drawn on it and had tons of attention ans interaction with everyone, except actual traps, the girls liked it tho

>tfw i can relate to this thought
this is why a cosplay, itabag, or any sort of "i'm a weeb!!" sign is key to going to a con. if you're dressed like a 'normie' people won't pay attention to you t b h.

What sort of con is it? and why are you interested in going?
I find it helps to have an "objective" when I go to a convention by myself. Sure it's fun wandering the floor but having a goal (e.g. getting a comic signed by the illustrator, going to a panel hosted by a celebrity I like) keeps my mind focused so I don't fell overwhelmed or too alone.
As for money - increasingly I find that sellers (both individual artists and larger companies) will accept cards through Square or whatever. However it's much easier to budget and pace yourself with cash. Usually I bring anywhere from $60-120 for a weekend, depending on how much I'm willing to buy. Think of how much things cost (books $20-30, prints $15-20, stickers/pins $5-10, shirts $20-30, etc) and how much you might find yourself hauling in. Since you're going by train it'll only be as much as you can carry so I'd say keep it lower for now.
I haven't really made friends at a con, apart from doing a meetup with someone I had previously met online. It's fairly easy to strike up a quick chat with cosplay as the subject (either if you're in costume or they are) but as an awkward guy I don't keep a conversation going past 30 seconds. Some cons do have fandom-based meetups (e.g. "all Arrowverse fans can hang out in this room from 2:30-3") which would be a good way to meet people.

kek.
A bit late for this, but go to home depot, get a trash can, print out a bunch of anime girls, and write Your Waifu Is Trash.

Hope you have fun.

Bullshit. Depends on the kind of con, if it's the type that has industry panels you want to see, artists on the AA that you'd like to buy shit from, artists you care about performing or signing autographs etc, you're going to spend most of your time in lines or browsing stalls anyway. Talk with the people near to you on the line, if they're waiting for a panel about X you know they're at least somewhat interested in X, just like you!

>people won't pay attention to you
why the fuck do you want people to pay attention to you in the first place? oh wait this is /cgl/, my bad.

If you're going to a con because you want to have gone to a con and it's a rural, only guests are american VAs sort of event, then it's going to be miserable with or without cosplay or friends and you should find a better con anyway.
