She was also doing something else while the group photo was being taken and when she found out ahe missed it started crying so her BF went around trying to gather people together for another group photo.

The percent of fursuiter who use fursuiting exclusively as a fetish is higher than a lolita who is using it for a fetish.
>A survey at Furry Fiesta 2013 found that 96.3 percent of male respondents and 78.3 percent of female ones reported viewing furry pornography (which, it should be noted, is a broad category and typically quite similar to regular porn albeit with furry traits added); men reported looking at furry porn 41.5 times per month on average, while women reported looking 10.5 times per month

>> No.9955466

Honestly putting the “can furries lolita” thing aside (and there is a valid argument for it), the problem is that people don’t coordinate their outfit with their animal costume. People say “well you don’t coordinate skin color with lolita” but there’s two issues with that statement. One, skin color is critical, some tones just don’t look good on some skin. Pasty white flesh tends to clash hard with orange, although granted that’s not a terribly common color in lolita, but it’s just an example. Second, fursuits are not skin. There’s usually a lot of colors and textures going on, so it’s crucial to make sure things line up. It’s like having a pastel barf wig with an IW classic coordinate.

In any case, if you remove the fur parts and it looks ita, then it’s still ita. A supermodel can put on a hideous coordinate and her face alone won’t be enough to save the worst of the ita messes.

This makes me mad in both my love for lolita and my love for European history. There is so much wrong with this in both fields.

Not to forget that it looks very reminiscent of these "I do reanecment for fun. You can't tell me my fabric chainmail isn't accurate and I need to wear something that at least looks like metal. You elitist feel you're so good. Not everyone has money you know!" kinda people. And those people are generally jerks who feel like expansive hobbies are a life right they can join without ever having to do effort or spend money. They are the Millanoo itas of reanecment.

Not to forget her stupid remarks like:
>then I realized I could be a knight as they were heavily associated with the church
No, they where not. The Church and kings didn't even like each other. But they had to work together for political reasons. The only associating is both where big in medieval times.
At least she didn't paste plate armour into the medieval times...

And maybe it's just me. But personally, I find it kinda odd saying things like
>I struggled to find a persona I identified with in Catholic imagery (I don't know saints almost at all)
If you're going to a Christian themed party. I'm not even Christian and I know multiple saints. Now I don't understand why hold a Christian themed meet in the first place, but at least be a good Christian and know your shit if you go to one. Kinda sounds like the whole event was a "let's make religion a meaningless fashion item" kinda thing.

And then from all the knights, she decided to be Knight Solaris. Because DarkSouls is super Christian. Wonder what the Knight Solars did for Christianity.

She could just have been a stereotype templar if she really wanted. At least those where accosiated with religion, because although they where basically an army for hire and a bank, they where most known as crusaders (trough they mainly got payed to keep the crusaders save).

I know. I still find it stupid to use a religion as a theme of any event beside a religious event. Using it for a fashion event just seems so ignorant. Felt the same about the Met Gala to be honest.

>You realise that's not from Dark Souls right?
Yes, I do. I was referring to the fact she went for Knight Solaire, called it "Knight Solaris" in the outfit rundown. She even had Dark Souls references in the comments. Not that the fucking powerrangers make her "knighthood" more Christian.

She either miss typed, or just used the wrong name to begin with.

>Religion is used for all sorts of things nowadays.
Religion is supposed to be a world view that means something to the believers. Not a capitalised theme for a random party that has nothing to do with said religion.

Same with Chinese wearing super Christian prints but not even understanding what it's about. It's just as stupid as Western people having cheap Buddhistic decoration. It just doesn't make sense and completely removes what it's all about. Not to forget it tends to be full of mistakes or simplifications because it's misunderstood and causes ignorance towards topics a lot.

I'm not even religious at all. I don't even like Christian believes. But it just seems idiotic to me to use it for such purposes, especially by people who don't even believe in it.

Like, with anything that's supposed to have meaning and that isn't commonly capitalised upon people find it weird, bad, and inappropriate. But if everyone does it anyways, then it's fine and it doesn't matter what it means. But just because many people are blindly following something doesn't make it better or worse. It becomes more normal, but not better or worse unless you are an ignorant fuck who just blindly follows the masses and their opinions. Then it's always better if it's normal and worse when it's not...

I’m Catholic and personally I’m fine with people just enjoying it for the aesthetic. Catholicism has been tied with art and culture for centuries and the imagery is very beautiful. Most artists weren’t creating religious art and cathedrals out of devotion, they were doing it because that’s where the money was at.

I’ve actually met people who came to God because they found the aesthetic so beautiful that they wanted to learn more about the faith and ended up converting. So as far as I’m concerned go ahead and rock the Christian aesthetic, maybe it’ll bring you closer to God or maybe you’ll just appreciate the beauty of it and I think those are both wonderful outcomes.

Many pieces where commissioned tho, and the Church was the biggest commissioner. Many Christian themed art was commissioned by Christians. These pieces also where made with knowledge of the religion, even when it wasn't the primary reason for the artist.

My problem is that half is this religious themes are used by people who don't know shit about it, and in most cases don't learn. I've also seen many cases of people blindly following the simplified or even wrong and misinterpretated version they once heard. Especially Christianity and Buddism in Europe seems bad. Most Christians I know haven't read bible, only follow the parts someone told them and what they like to hear.

This is my problem. The random uses, in most cases, don't tell the whole or true story. And many won't bother to look it up. It causes ignorance to believes. Maybe in a few cases people found God because of it in a proper way. But 9/10 it just causes more unneeded ignorance in the world because some idiot wanted to make money out of something he doesn't know shit about.

No, I'm European. It differs a bit per country here, but where I live, people tend to care for their religion, even if it's just because they agree with it and not doing anything else with it. Stating your religion generally shows a lot of what type of person someone is, since they agree with those norms and values and believe in whatever the holy writings and leaders say.

Even those who got it all wrong do tend to believe it's correct, and care for the fact they believe it. It's kinda annoying that religion is abused like this because believe is somewhat important, but there is also a lot of ignorance in the sense of commercialised religious ignorance and historical values and culture being lost.

I heard America is bad with is, but I dunno to what extend to be honest. I heard they don't even use protestant, Christian and Catholic properly (using Christians 's if equal to protestant and not including Catholics). But then, it's all stories. I haven't had much changes to talk with Americans about this. It always seemed a very religious country tho.

No one thinks these things hold significance towards the actual faith, and if they do, it generally leads to two reactions: "Oh, that's neat" and forget about it a day later, or "Huh, wonder what that's about" and look it up. You could argue against the larger commercialization of religious iconography, but to put it simply, "bread is just bread until it's been blessed". A cross it just two intersecting sticks, a nun habit only counts if you've taken vows, and wine is for celebration and rough Tuesdays.

Also, especially in America, it's not common for those who're protestant/non-Catholic to know any saints besides the apostles, let alone those who don't practice Christianity. I'd give her a pass on not knowing any, personally.

That's not to say this is a good outfit, though. Despite the nice tailoring, that silver fabric is kiddy costume level, unless it's more detailed outside of pictures.

Funerals can be elegant isn't really the right way to put it. It's a deeper thought about death, and not just seeing it as a negative thing that is purely "morbid and for mourning" that allows for elegance.

The elegance can even be found in the morbid and mourning parts, and also in the "depressing" part. It's a different way to look at it.

Not gonna try to explain if you don't get it. Especially since you're not a loltia in the first place.

Also, I think she has grace and looks very elegant. Everything from her pose to her clothes has an elegant, graceful feeling over it, and if you don't see it, gothic (or any "dark side" subculture and fashion) probably just isn't for you.

Disagree. Elegance, grace, that is all about a certain type of mannerism. Graceful mannerisms are never ever depression based ones, that would be morbid mannerisms not graceful ones. Funerals are not graceful. Funeral wear is not graceful, its the opposite almost. They wear ALL black because there is nothing eye catching or fun or humble about black. Black is sadness. It is THE color for sadness.

With this I agree. But if there are many mistakes in what she said and wears already (not talking the mention she made of not knowing saints, but the things like "knights where associated with religion", the shitty costume, etc), then it feels more like an ignorance used for fashion, and not a general respect for another cultural thing.

>what is too much? Like is wearing a cross bad?
I guess it depends. Personally I try to avoid crosses, but a general cross has been used on many other places before and after Christianity started using it, so unless there is a Jezus hanging on it I don't mind it at others really.

>>9955896
I don't think Christians themselves are abused, and once again, I don't know about the ones in the USA. I'm from Europe and even here it can differ per country. I know that to many people here, it is actually an important and meaningful thing. Just because Americans do something doesn't make the rest of the world like that...

All I'm saying is that using imagery that means something important and that caries a lot of history as if it's a meaningless fashion statement is kinda stupid. Do so with any minority and people get mad, but do it at a mayority group and it's fine. I feel many people are kinda hypocrite at that. The concept is the same, and to me, both are stupid and disrespectful. I just hate this general "you can disrespect majorities all you like but not minorities" thing. You shouldn't disrespect either.

Only in Western culture. In some Asian ones, purple is.

This is the thing. This view is very typical. Almost any western person has it. One has to think deeper about death, depression, morbid things, and one can find beauty as well.

Like I said. If you don't get that idea, dark side subcultures like gothic aren't for you. Good for you, stick with pastel vomit that looks like forced fake happiness walking away from anything negative which is a behaviour that doesn't allow for true happiness because the negativity is hidden instead of given a place.

But that's just my view on sweet lolita. I don't like that look at all.

You are not entertaining at a funeral, funerals DO NOT call for grace, that is fucking disrespectful as fuck to try and be some graceful hostess at a fucking funeral where youre taking in stark reality over the death of someone. Entertainment is to bring out happiness, funerals are to mourn and collect everyone's sadness.

At a funeral you are to be silent, pay respects and be sad. That is not graceful in the slightest you dumb bitches. You wear all black for funerals for a reason, black symbolizes an emotion, all colors symbolize emotions. And all black is sad depressing shit. How is that entertaining or pleasant? Why not? Why does it have to be shitty? You want people to feel shitty? Why not remember the good parts? Make the best of a bad situation? Who says death is even bad? I can think of many things worse than dead, and many scenario's in which I rather die.

> be some graceful hostess at a fucking funeral where youre taking in stark reality over the death of someone
So a dead person doesn't deserve anything pretty anymore?

>funerals are to mourn and collect everyone's sadness.
Are they? Or can they be to pay a last respect? Remember someone as they where? Give things a place? Learn to make the best of it?

>At a funeral you are to be silent, pay respects and be sad.
Who are you to say how someone mourns. People act on emotions a different way. And who are you to say how to feel. Only the respect part is universal.

>That is not graceful in the slightest you dumb bitches.
Why not? Why does it have to be unappealing to see?

Yes, but it is you who thinks of a negative one.

>And all black is sad depressing shit.
Highly disagree. Again, this is just your viewpoint.

>is that entertaining or pleasant? How is this graceful?
Because it reminds of a truth, that has to be accepted and embraced to become better. Hiding negativity is never good. There is a beauty in all negativity, because it's not positive.

No, there are many cultures in the world that don't view it like that. It's not me, is many cultures as well as subcultures. That's what I mean with you're shortsighted. You assume what you often see around you is how it's everywhere, and tell others they're bad when they disagree with your norms as if your norms are law.

For example, in my country, people do dress the nicest they can for funerals. Solids or not. Wearing black is not needed at all, many wear colours. Dressing your best is seen as a sign of respect. Because you put effort into looking decent when it's about someone else, instead of caring so little you won't even put in the effort to dress decently. And the exact clothes nor the colours aren't that important to funeral beside "dress as nice as you can". Funerals are seen as a last change to say goodbye and give it a place, not to gather sadness here...

In fact, dressing badly or different from how people know you draws attention.

>> No.9956192

At least in America, there’s a societal expectation of dark, formal clothes for funerals...but of course, there’s a movement towards death positivity that has gained some traction what with the internet and such. A lot of people like the idea of a “celebration of life” rather than a more typical funeral. Colors, patterns, even themed clothes at funerals are becoming more common. At any rate anyone who uses a funeral as a spotlight is shit, but dressing nicely (or in alternative fashion) isn’t automatically begging for attention.

As to the christian question, maybe christians shouldn’t have gone around trying to convert everybody if they didn’t want their symbols to be used so much. I’ve had tons of christians try to guilt me/force me into the religion, you bet your ass I’ll wear as many crosses and such as I please. Hard to respect the symbols of a religion whose members turned america into a shithole, and I don’t see how emulating christian iconography is disrespectful anyways.

>> No.9956203

Because not all the world are like Americans, nor are all Christians like that.. . Its just hypocrit really. Every culture has done shitty things. But this one was big and influencial, and I don't like the ones I met who are only a small portion in a particular place of the world, so no need to respect that one!

When are we going to talk about the negative things on minorities? Or use their cultural and religious stuff as random meaningless fashion statement? Oh that's right, it doesn't matter because they never became big enough to still see influences of the negative things today. So you need to be nice to that. Anytime that's used it's a huge problem. Just like those otters with feather headdresses.

Just because it's big and with that, more negative parts are known, doesn't make it better or worse than others. Just because you met some shitty people doesn't make a whole religion bad. That's just really bad reasoning.

>turned America into a shithole
And much of super religious Europe is fine. Ever thought this is not Christianity, but American culture? There is much more wrong with general American culture than the religious parts...

I only go to the funerals of people who mattered to me. As it should be. Why pay respect to someone you don't care about? Kinda weird. It's kinda how everyone does it here.

And people that matter to me, generally I know them well enough that I met people that where close to them as well. I don't need to know them well, but they've seen me before, which includes my taste of clothes. There won't be much strangers, and those who are will either not care of be corrected. Alternative fashions are reasonably common in my country anyways. Not many bat an eye on them...

I never said my fashion is normal. I said they know I normally wear it so they don't expect anything else. And then we get back to the point that it's not disrespectful to be the way you're always am, while looking as well dressed as possible. It's in fact expected where I life.

your comment saying it's already possible vendetta sucks, but I kinda agree when it comes to this coord. The blouse and tights are too stark white for this look, the blouse looks kinda odd and doesn't fit nice. Very bulking on the side of the skirt. The make-up doesn't match her coord, not is it a neutral one. Especially the random bright pink lipstick that's very bright on that dark skin looks odd. Fine in a coord with pink, but it's a stark, unnatural pink in a coord with otherwise mature/neutral colours. That bonnet also sits kinda odd on her head, and her hairs looks a bit unbrushed, but I'm willing to let that last one go under the norm of "daily wear, wind blows it out of model".

The blue lace seems super random tho. I don't mind the lack of accesouries, as I like simple daily coords and it wouldn't leave empty looking places if she had a beter colour blouse and tights.

Blouse cut is also kinda weird. The sleeves look like loose business blouse sleeves, and the colour just seems kinda odd with that low V line. It seems like a lolita blouse with that lace on the neck border, but far from a style that should be worn with a coord like this.

If she wanted messed up hair, why not wear it to the other way and at least hide that huge mole? Or does she thinks it adds to her feminist tumblr appearance?

I mean, no make-up. Shitty half short, half shaved hair, weird glasses that don't even sit correctly on her ears (most likely just fahion ones), shitty bow, shitty outfit. She got it all going for her. For the tumblr feminazi look I mean ofcourse. For lolita she looks horrible.

>> No.9956870

Poor girl. She doesn't even realise she dresses this bad. She reminds me of one of those people who want to do something very badly but they just don't get it. You know, those little nerdy-like people who want to do something they love, and they really try, they are nice people, but they just don't get it. They act like they don't care about being called names, but deep inside it eats them.

Those ita's dress the worst, but it are the only ones I feel bad for. They look horrible, but they sincerely tend to be nice people who want to do it write, but never seem to get it.

I don't know if she really is like that. But I hope so. I like to believe so.

I think they are so desperate to be part of something they don't see it. they are unaware because they are mentally so sad and lonely deep inside they won't see the truth, because it would hurt them too much. I think they reality just hide from that reality because they can't take it.

Generally they tried to be "normal" and popular with the "normal" kids at some point, and can't. Like these nerdy outcast really want to belong somewhere, and they tend to be nice, but they just don't get it so no one will take them. It's a sad reality some grow out, some stay in forever.

Its not about dressing nicely, thats not the problem, its about what statement your garment is making, and every single one makes one whether you agree with it or not.

If I saw someone at a funeral overdressing or in an outfit that is completely inappropriate(like as if they are going to a party on a fucking funeral day of all days)compared to everyone else there, I would feel salt over it because it would strike me as them being an attention whoring in a completely inappropriate place at a completely inappropriate time. It really does come off that you are putting more thought into yourself that day than the deceased, and I think this would be pretty standard attitude to have in the majority of cultures.

Just a friendly reminder that the Catholic Church funded the current Met gala exhibit.

Awkward when what you're railing against is supported by the institution you claim to support. I left the Church a while ago but you have to appreciate their current good humor about all this.
