I'm tired of aprons, they feel too maid-ish to me and I don't need another layer in this heat. I want long lolitas coats back in the winter, I feel like I've been seeing too many girls with normie coats recently.

Okay I get them looking too "maid" like but what about keeping stains off of your clothing? It's much easier to replace an apron than it is to replace a dress. That's why I like aprons

Im a babby lolita but I really want to buy some before this next winter to wear with my coords.

Honestly I would love to see some more dresses like this come out this year from AP for winter wear. I don't see very many winter coords and it's one of my favorite looks ever.

>> No.9943758

>>9943738
I like aprons as long as they’re functional. They’re a great way to add pockets to an outfit when your main piece doesn’t have any and your bag is awkward to open and close all the time. However I don’t like those organza ones or aprons that can’t be washed easily when they do get dirty. Seeing girls at a meetup freak out because they got a tiny stain on their apron is just surreal.

>>9943738
>>9943747
I have several lolita brand coats that I absolutely love, but like one third of the year it’s way too hot for them.

I agree on the normie coats. It’s very rare that a normie coat accommodates the lolita silhouette so the majority of the time it looks super awkward and overstuffed. That, or they leave them hanging open even in the rain.

I would buy the shit out of a rerelease of any of their current appliqué dresses ESP if it came with shirring. I'm on the lookout for a few right now and I know the carnival appliqué skirt is on sale on the western market but I feel like I'd rather have a dress over a skirt.. With the price of new brand aprons, it's not much easier.

>>9943747
I do! I really love my coat and would like to get more. It even looks great over normie stuff as well as lolita, it's much more versatile and hard wearing than any normie coat I've had.

>>9943758
Good point on the pockets, I hadn't thought of that. I guess I can see their value a bit more now.

But on coats, I truly believe that if you live in a cold place they are good value for money, especially if you buy secondhand. Sure, they're only good for 1/3rd of the year, but during that third, they're really necessary.

You'll really have to excuse the mess I am, I don't have any pictures of the apron already, and I actually haven't worn it out since I bought it (I got it for a concert but it missed me by a few hours)

The lady is pretty new to lolita in general so she did her best for her first lolita apron and even hand stiched the button holes to make sure they held up over time. her insta handle is @princesspeonypetal

A handful of the taobao brands have aprons. Most are like $30~50 before shipping. Make a haul or a group order and split shipping costs.

If you find it difficult to track down individual taobao shops, look through a reseller such as MLD or lolitawardrobe, then note the brand and track down their taobao shop, then look through the shop for the apron.

Maybe it depends on the style you wear? I own 12 lolita brand bags and only two are either not crossbody bags or convertable into one. In coord shots I'll hold then by the handle but wear it out crossbody for ease of use. Of said bags three are AP, three IW, three AatP, and only the AP ones I'd consider small - the others hold quite a bit.

To contribute, in terms of trends... I feel like ridiculous OTTness is dying, or maybe it's shifting a bit from classic to gothic almost. OTT gothic outfits are getting big praise while those crazy classic outfits that might have been a hit 4-5 years ago are getting less enthusiasm. Or maybe that's just cgl. Kind of like how on cgl people praise simple outfits and more daily coords but it doesn't feel really well liked in the rest of the lolita community.

A trend I wish was gone is the close up makeup shot on CoF. Just do a shot or two of your outfit, maybe a close up of your accessories or the print if you're wanting to spice it up. 90% of the time it just makes people look awful and vain and in those 10% of the times where they have a pretty shot and nice makeup they already looked perfec tand fine in their outfit shots. It just either drags them down or takes up pointless space.

I want more dresses that hit at the proper waist, especially outside of just classic. High waist is fine sometimes, but I hate that *every. new. release* from major brands, and ALL taobao brands, is high waist/empire waist.

Well, desu I'm weak for pastel prints on black, also they have a lower resale value, so I'll prob buy the black cutsew version secondhand for comfy casual. But it's not worth anything more than 100 yuros honestly.
I do't get why they make so much washed out prints like that. Is that what most lolitas, asian and western, want? For example I understand why the make OTT lacemonsters: it's for the chinese nouveau riche lolitas. But that pastel vomit, again and again? I one hundred percent agree, but I think the only people pushing more more uneeq over the top coordinates are itas, newfags, and lolita at hearts. I appreciate a well done unique coordinate, but most of the people who attempt that are new to the fashion and don't really understand it. While pushing the boundaries is a good thing at times, if you're new, it's not going to work out too well. Most people who have worn the style for more than a few months understand that you can't always push the boundaries, and it's often easy to appreciate a simple, done a thousand times outfit.

I don't get why people who want to be super edgy and uneeq see lolita as the fashion for them regardless. There's such strict rules. But I think most of the people who do this think all they need to do to qualify as lolita is wear one brand piece.

It was that planned casual look, where even though it was still worn as a street fashion, thought went into your outfits, because you had to look good for the people you would be hanging out with. Westerners who try to imitate that look always seem to miss that fine line between looking casual but still polished, but not overplanned. I think a big part of pulling it off is having the right body type and personal styling to match the look. With oldschool becoming a lot more popular these days, I see many girls who coord well (or at least get the actual clothes mostly right like on the right of pic related) but it's not quite the same look due to to their faces, bodies, or styling. It's just like how angular faces are more suited to gothic, and more youthful faces look great with sweet.

If you mean Ophelia, I actually think some of her coords do get the frumpy aspect right, like on the left in pic related (I love oldschool Michelin Man sleeves, which definitely give off a feeling of frumpiness). >That overhang on the bib outside the neck ties
>left corner and right corner aren’t symmetrical
>bib being too narrow

idk anon, she’s not at regretsy level, but I just don’t think she’s all that great.

As to your original apron, I think your best bet might be to redo the apron waistband entirely. You can look up how to do a curved waistband, that will help it sit better against your tummy. Put some stiffer interfacing inside it and press, press, press every step of the way — her original waistband looks weird because it looks like she just folded over a regular rectangle and sewed it down, twisting the fabric in the process. A bit of pressing would’ve helped keep the fabric from twisting around, and help the top of the waistband stay sharp even without interfacing.

Honestly it also looks like the apron isn’t gathered enough, so while you’re replacing the waistband you might try and measure it, make sure it’s *at least* 3 x the length of the waistband you’re gathering it too. currently it looks like it just really wants to be narrower and is trying to squish down your dress, when it can’t do that then it pushes upwards and skews up your waistband instead.

I think the heart patch pockets aren’t all that bad actually. If you really liked her embroidery, I think a better use of your money is to send one of these pockets back to her and commission a custom embroidery (maybe a cupcake with your initial on it). Then attach it on the apron. Certainly much better than commissioning something you know is out of her depth and then force-trying to “work” with her.

This isn’t really a trend but can ero lolita stop being a fucking thing already? What is the point of it? Sexualizing a fashion that the rest of the community tries to prevent the sexualization of from sissies, DDLG roleplayers, creepy con managers, and anyone who hears the name lolita and assumes it’s related to the book? Ero lolita goes against the basic fundamental rules of lolita, like skirts not being too short and necklines not too low, so it shouldn’t even really be classified as lolita. Afaik it originated from the Japanese club scenes way back when, when it was cool to combine lolita's cuteness with the fetish wear worn for nightclubs. Ero can be done tastefully but unfortunately most of the time you'll see girls with no aesthetic sense attempting it, or just shriek that they can have their tits and ass out because it's an ero coord and we're all dumb for not realizing it; so a lot of times it does look ita. nayrt, but. It's short, sleeveless, has a corset, tights have garter and corset print. It could be gothic, but it's certainly not MmM gothic lolita, nor even AtePi lolita.
