>Laundry tips
Don't use fabric softener
Dresses are bottom heavy, if you hang them just by the shoulders this can lead to stretching over time ( this is why good quality dresses have those ribbon loops for hanging ). You can fold a dress in half and then hang it over the lower bar to avoid that, if you don't wear some dresses as much as others.
Prevent armpit staining by wearing perspiration sheets.
Remove set in yellowed sweat stains using this method;
It removed a 4 year set in stain on a chiffon blouse for me.

>Best ways to keep track of your wardrobe?
Make a facebook album and save the stock photos with any details attached to the image.

>Ways to get the best deals and save money?
Shop everywhere. If you're not using Mecari, Fril and other second hand sites you're never going to find a good deal and really limit yourself. Find a good shopping service you like who easy to communicate with and just do it.

>Ways to repair lolita shoes?
The good ol' nail polish remover on a pleather shoe is the best one. Go over your shoe with it after each wear and remove any scuff marks easily and keep them looking new.
Don't store them in shoe boxes.

These would be a lot more useful if the caps included the pictures of the original questions. But even then, this whole thread is just pandering to newfags.

I can't get a hold of sock glue/tape locally so when I don't have enough time to order some online, I use Elmer's glue sticks to keep up OTKs. They're available pretty much everywhere, dry clear, are non-toxic, and come out with soap and water.

That is true. I made these caps mainly for my own reference and I didn't think the actual question was needed, just a file name that tells what the post is supposed to be answering. Is something like pic attached what you're looking for? I guess I can go back into the archive and make new caps of the question and answer for future posting. And for the thread pandering for newfags, well I don't really see a problem with dumping information that will help them be a better lolita/take better care of their clothing. I think it's better that they get the information now instead of making mistakes and getting corrected later (or never).

>pandering to newfags
I'm not sure what your point is. People do need to start somewhere, and there's certain things that may just not have happened to come up yet for someone, even for girls who have been wearing lolita for some time. For example, I've been in the fashion for a few years now, but I've never really experimented with perfume before, and also only very rarely take coord pics so I'm sure I (and a lot of people in similar situations) have plenty to improve on and would find this type of thread useful.

Even people who aren't total newfags can still learn new learn stuff (and I definitely see it as a continuous learning process), especially since the old blogs that talked about this sort of thing are pretty much dead. At the very least, I guess it could help contain apparent newfaggery to one thread?

It might be the worst, but I'd say 6/10 lolitas would do this, I've seen a lot and it came up on Rufflechat recently too I think. By posting it on fb you get a sort of bragging ability - I've mostly only seen Lolitas with big wardrobes do it.

Spreadsheet masterrace. Might seem a bit autistic or cumbersome, but this way I can easily sort my pieces by categories like brand, release year, color, sizing, etc. I've also found it handy when selling because I know exactly how much I bought something for and the number of previous owners, so I can price and list things with those in mind. It's easy to note things like ref links, any damages, and potential coord ideas.

Where is the source that laundry suds damage elastic when left in the garment? I know elastics degrade over time regardless of how well you care for it but I have never found a source saying that it's better to machine wash over hand wash.

Personally I like to just use those free closet apps. You can organise by colour, brand, item etc. and upload photos directly from the website or google. You can also put together coordinates for quick reference and add notes to each item or coordinate to keep track of the price, alternate items you could use or what occasions and weather to wear each coordinate in. I find it's the most convenient because I can have it on my phone to easily come up with coord ideas, and it's private.

Alternatively I also keep a folder of mock up coordinates, or pieces that go with each other on photoshop documents. Sorta like what polyvore was.

This is what I do, I write details about name, brand, late I bought it, any notes, and then selling information if I sold it. I also hyperlink lolibrary links for visuals.

Tip request! I have a cutsew with sleeves like pic related. The elastic is very stretchy, but super intense--I'm a pretty small person and it still gives me "arm muffin top." I'd like to relax the elastic, without stretching it out so badly that it's no longer elastic at all. Thanks!

I have a column that includes a stock photo, so I can just scroll through and see all the pictures. It's not as visual as a closet app, but hey it's a compromise.

I actually added fabric softener on one dress that was delivered to me unwashed, it was really smelly

it's clean now and the stench is gone but the fabric feels really rough.
does anyone know how to fix this?

>> No.9949778

I would suggest putting in a longer piece of elastic. Shouldn't be too hard of a modification. Use a safety pin on the end of the new piece of elastic to thread it through more easily.

It can shorten the life of your clothes because it's basically wash-in chemicals to make the fabric feel softer.

>rubbing on wrists and then neck
yeah if you bring your bottle with you and you refresh during the day maybe, most anything short of extrait will not be able to project past the first hour, let alone a whole day.

Rose notes are very popular but I personally have a hard time with them. They can easily induce a headache for me, they just don't live up to the real deal. I would not back on them as a main note, but that's just me.

This should be something you take an interest in as a hobby. It's just another aspect of fashion.

>> No.9955172

>>9955171
What is extrait? And if you're worried about longevity just use oil perfumes instead of the alcohol based spray ones. Much less overwhelming too.

>> No.9955177

>>9955172
Attars are nice, but they don't project, like you said. But unless you're planning on cuddling or having sex, this means nobody except you will enjoy the scent - if that. I don't want skin scents, I want something that both I and others will notice. Not being overwhelming and choking is of course important, but cannot completely be avoided. I personally have two grapefruit fragrances, but I am allergic to them and too much can trigger asthma for me. Certain notes affect certain people differently. Some are safer than others. Other than that, it's just about using moderation. However, I think a spray on each wrist and dabs here and there is *very* modest.

An extrait is a fragrance with between 15 and 40% of oil concentration.
