Did some fixing up on my list!

A little broke at the moment but if someone was selling the SFC set separately id snatch it from you in a heartbeat
(Unfortunately can't afford the whole dress set on Mercari right now. maybe in a few weeks I'll buy it all, unless I had a solid buyer for the dress)

As always, set on colors/cuts except I would be content with Magic Amulet in black/red or in jsk form.

Good Luck everyone! I hope we all get to ride off of Telephone chans luck!

She is not trying to sell it right know, but she bought the listing on lacemarket last week that a kind anon mentioned in the last thread. So I'm honestly hoping that she just bought it because she likes it too and wants to wear it, so the dress finds a good home with her. The red was second most popular but was still available to be ordered through the stores themselves before they went live for online orders. I ordered four dresses ( one of red and purple both jsk cuts) and the purple ones came almost three weeks later then the reds due to the double production. It’s not a matter of red selling out more, it’s a matter that purple was avalible after due to more being made.

If you don’t then that is fine. But if any drama with those you know and your community come up, you might get targeted unfairly for being as open as you are about coming here. Question for all of you while we wait for our dresses to show up.

How do you feel when you see anons in the thread hunting for a dress or item that you have, especially one that you have no intention of selling?
Do you feel guilt, or do you feel even happier that you own it, or do you have mixed feelings? Does it make you want to sell it, or hold onto it more?

>> No.9941364

Before I sold off my Honey Cake set I kept getting offers of $250-300 for it because of how badly damaged it was. Good thing I refused those offers because I managed to sell it for more than twice that in auction. I would have kept it if it weren’t for the fact that my wide football player back prevented me from wearing it comfortably. And I didn’t want to alter it because I’m a purist when it comes to dresses.

Or you own dresses that everyone else owns and or are average dresses that multiple brands have made similar styles of. But chances are is it’s someone’s dream dress but they are quiet about it being their dream dress. Some people are very secluded on what their dream dress is because they don’t want others to know ( like rainies buying people’s dream dresses just to sell them for mark up) and others are very verbal about their dream dresses in hopes of someone selling it to them. Then there’s the people that pester people in their comms for dream dresses and asking them to let them know when they sell it. I have two girls in my comm that do that to me and one of our mods because we have some coveted prints.

Who says I don't like it? I love it, i've just never been IN it. Always looking in. Mostly because I never had the money to blow on pretty much a 1K outfit (people who live this life must not have A- Rent or B- Loans or bills of any kind). But now that I live next to a store and I tried one out for the first time in my life, I thought it would be nice I guess.

You have this, you're not a lolita, but you want to use it in a raffle as a prize people can draw, as a loophole to...? something, not clear.
To answer, that item is not a coveted piece, and would seem like a 'I don't want it so I have to give it away to get rid of it' sort of gift, which is still nice but won't be well received, except by new folks that wouldn't possibly be affronted.
Building a wardrobe takes time and consideration, curating, but littler items like accessories, bags or jewelry can also be costly and hard to find, plus a lot of lolitas are paycheck to paycheck from what I can tell, not so much of a budget for smaller needed things over main pieces.
If you have a budget big enough to use a main piece from AATP, you could just as easily get several smaller/pricey for what it is items to the same value.

Or, just get the dress for you and don't do a raffle?

>> No.9944637

>>9944632
I'd say if you do a raffle at all to start with small items and maybe work your way up to a dress. Like let's say New Years rolls around and there's a coveted dress being released, if you did a raffle on a dress like that and you're already established with raffling smaller items (like jewelry or purses, accessories and that sort), it would draw in more attention. It would also help if you're a shop or established on social media so that people can trust your word on it. Because honestly, someone saying "hey send me a buck for a raffle where you could maybe win a dress no one wants!" Sounds like a complete scam

Go look at what some giveaway posts look like, and other raffling posts online. You don't seem like you know what you're really doing

>> No.9944660

>>9944517

Yeah, that's not a coveted dress. Not every dress is a popular one. Even AP has some fugly duds that no one wants to touch with a ten-foot pole.

I'm with the other anon. Go small and start with like a $10-$30 accessory raffle, that way you only need like 10-30 people sending you $1 and you can send them whatever. Build up to an actual dress. It's sale season at the moment, so you should be quick if you want to take advantage of lower prices to kick-start the raffling thing, then you'll have a more solid rep by the time it comes to raffling an actual dress.

Also publicise your winners. Link back to the recipient's blog or whatever, it helps people realise you're actually sending out dresses and not lying.

You'll also want to clarify what happens if you don't hit your target. I'm guessing you want to keep the excess $1 that people send you, which is fine -- anyone who sends a dollar hoping to receive brand new burando is probably fine knowing you're keeping the excess. What happens if you don't actually hit $300 or whatever is needed to buy the dress? Do you refund everybody the money? Keep it and send them something small? Hash these details out in the open and announce them up front, at least you'll avoid angry misunderstandings calling you a scammer.

You really don’t know the lolita community at all. Most lolitas are in college and or out of college with successful careers. I make roughly 18 an hour at my job and can pay my car payment, my mortgage ( I own a house not renting a apartment), pay my college loans monthly, my credit cards are always paid off and I can still splurge on a new dress or two a month. I travel often for vacation and am currently saving for a wedding at the same time. I wear the fashion regularly and are not this “ don’t have rent or loans “ nonsense. I’m also not the only one like this. There are many out there on the same financial track as me. This is why we are in this hobby in the first place. We can afford it and we enjoy it.

And another thing to add on, and I'm not sure if this is a problem anymore but back in like.. 2012(..?) I remember a lot of giveaway blogs on tumblr had lots of issues announcing winners because they would be harassed. So I think you need to seriously sit down and think it through a bit more than "burando giveaway! The gulls will surely love this!"

There are a lot of issues with giveaways and you need to make sure you're not only legally doing it, but protecting the winners and yourself, and making sure people entering feel safe and comfortable enough entering

499 losers in a hobby full of snowflakes, though. You know the kind of person willing to send you a dollar without thinking through that they run a pretty high chance of being one of the losers that funded somebody else's (nearly) free dress and a tidy profit for you aren't the type that reads through and understands lotteries, barely after announcing the winner you're going to get so much whining and shit from those who don't understand why they don't get a free dress and now want to take their frustration out on you for not acknowledging their status as God's favorite poorfag.

Besides, I don't even know if there's 500 lolitas willing to send anybody a dollar. They're willing to drop $500 on their dream dress, sure, but most of them funded that by being tight-fisted, not by sending randos on the internet $1 for basically nothing.

Because the 'other countries' are England, France, Germany or other 'romantic countries'. Mexico is a 3rd world country where nothing would appeal to their whimsical view of the west.

yeah europe has a skew because of the obvious fashion origins but AATP did do a schezeraide print so I don't see how mexico is that far of a stretch. if a disney princess suddenly came from mexico and it did well i can imagine lolita suddenly jumping on the train.

>AATP did do a Scheherazade print so I don’t see how Mexico is that far of a stretch

Anon, Scheherazade was one thousand and one nights which is an Arabic theme. Magic carpets, Genies in lamps and jewels. Mexico isn’t even remotely close to the same theme as that. If there is any thing that would be even considered it would be the sugar skulls. Mexico doesn’t have any thing that would provide the mysticism of what brands like. They like magic, mystery and fantasy. Mexico has nothing of that sort other then maybe the chupacabra. Mexico isn’t a appealing country. I’m sorry. But it wouldn’t be likely to ever happen. It’s too tacky.

You don't really know much about Mexican lore and history then. They have mermaids and witches and a ton of lore. Much of their culture is a mix of traditional indigenous tribes and European ideals that came over. It's actually pretty cool to learn about, and I genuinely don't think it's a far fetch. It's just that a lot of people don't recognize it because a lot of it in modern day is very tacky and way too OTT and not really in a good way.

>> No.9947786

>>9947731
Mermaids and witches are not unique to Mexico. They are a lore that’s universal and heavily represented in Europe and Asian lore more then Mexican at all. The Bright contesting colors of traditional Mexican garments and the overly gawdy lace is what people associate with Mexico more then a mermaid lore. And that itself looks like trash. You know full well of a Japanese brand tried to do a spin on any thing Mexican, it would be multi colored pompom trim with some fushia, lime green, electric blue and mustard yellow that is associated with Mexico now. Japanese brands are not one to really research origins and stories of unpopular traditions from countries that no one really cares to look into. Maybe it’s best if they didn’t do something Mexican culture because I don’t think they would do it right either since Mexico is such a convoluted mess of a culture.

diffanon but I feel like you're incredibly biased and can only see things from your anti-Mexico pov.
I don't see any problem with what the other anon is suggesting. you're also arguing with her about what she said she'd personally like to see from a brand...you're not going to change her interests and I hope one of the top 5 comes out with a Mexican-inspired print so you'll be pissed off in a little grumpy hate-cave about it.

I think IW could do beautiful things with a Mexican print. Fujiwara-san just needs to travel to Mex. like she did to Czechia to create Cesky

omg i would kill for a Mayan aesthetic print. i felt like baroque kind of breached that territory with their Mythic Superstition print... obvs its astrology themed but the wheel and jeweltones gave it a more central american feel imo

and im not talking sugar skulls i mean mayan mythology/ calender etc

As someone who isn’t not a “fan” of Mexican culture, that’s ceetai Loy the last word I would ever associate with Lolita, if I’m being 100% honest. HOWEVER! I did just think about this really lovely print with little red riding hood on it and a human wolf and hunter by her side, looks all romantic as each drawing has them kissing her hand or holding her close. Then I thought, man I really love men in armor. Then I thought what about a Don Quixote print! Little bit of Mexican flare and if done right, of corse, have that unique culture fantasy to it. Omg you could call the print Knight Love. Ok, someone out there make it so!

>> No.9947856

>>9947836
None of that is uniquely Mexican. Don Quixote is a Spanish novel, as in from Spain.

The Mexican equivalent of a knight would probably be el ranchero, which probably isn't "romantic" enough for a major brand to consider. Then again, there is a Toy Story collab and a popular denim jsk so I guess anything's possible lol.

Also, your spelling is horrific.

This nonsense has inspired me to research Mexican lore. I unfortunately was taught primarily by clueless whites in Burgerland so I have a lot to learn from other people.

I don’t care about the argument in this thread but a Mexican desert print done in the AATP art style would be dope af. A simple cut with the print done is dusty colors would be great.
