You can add liquid fabric softener to your hand wash routine. I do this for some of my blouses.
Also make sure you're rinsing things thoroughly, excess soaps can make things crisper.

Does Classical Puppets do true custom size?
I am looking at a jsk and it says custom size for ordering options, but on the page it has S, M, L sizes. I would like the jsk to be slightly larger than their L size, would they actually be able to do that if I provided the measurements to the shopping service?

It wouldn't be a crazy huge one, just 102cm max bust.

>> No.9929769

that's debatable though, gentle cycle on a good machine can be just as good or better than handwashing. Assuming that it's about lolita clothes if you've been around longer than you can say "sugary carnival" you'd likely know about the lists compiled of machine washable prints. I can't think of any good reason why someone >>9929173 would wash their blouses by hand when there are mesh washing bags for things like pearls and what-not.

I might sound like I got my bloomers in a twist but I'm just tired of buying second hand clothing that's filthy because some scaredylolita didn't dare to wash it properly (inb4 you should always wash newly bought clothes before you wear them, I do, but I also always wash my clothes before I sell them, that should be commonplace honestly)

It's unusual for Japans models to tell their age. When Misako told people they where shocked. Not because the number was unexpected, but because she told it publicly.

Make an account with your own country's address and sign in. Some sellers will ship internationally and you'll be able to buy them. Some won't, and Amazon won't let you buy them with an overseas address, in that case you'd need a shopping service.

All the actual books and CDs carried by Amazon will ship internationally. It's the other stuff like Blythes clothes or whatever that you worry about.

I'm thinking about getting a credit card for the first time to keep on hand in case of lolita/regular emergencies (like if my DD shows up and I'm broke... like rn). I'm justifying it because I would like to build my credit up and it would be easier on me budgeting by setting aside X amt a paycheck for a bill. Are there any suggestions that you guys like?

I'm 21, and out of school. Something with rewards that come from groceries or buying things and something without high interest fees/insane limits would be preferable, but I also have no clue what the fuck I'm doing. Thanks ahead of time!

>> No.9933644

Don't do this, it will become a bad habbit. Also it wont help build credit if you only use it for emergencies. The best way to use a credit card is to make small daily purchases, or a bill, and pay it off each month.

>> No.9933660

>>9933644
Maybe I should have clarified;
I wouldn't buy more than 200 dollars worth of dresses a month, plus my phone bill, and in case I need to pick up food, meds, uber, etc outside of my regular grocery trips. It's all very do-able and I have decent self control when it comes to stuff like this. My partner keeps the main bills in her name so it wouldn't do me good to use it on those, and while my major motivation is a DD right now I don't believe I would go overboard

>> No.9933858

>>9933642

Cash back would be lovely, I'm not too sure how it works though. Is it only on certain things you spend on? I don't travel as much as I used to so I don't think air miles would be as useful. I'll definitely look into the chase one, since I probably don't have a lot of credit at the moment

I'm going to be moving soon and I'm not sure on how to pack the dresses I have hanging in my closet. For all my other clothes I've been packing them using the Marie Kondo method. Would it be best to pack the dresses the same way, or is there a different/better method to use? It probably sounds stupid, but I want to handle them better/with more care.

>> No.9935547

>>9935373
When I moved all my dresses, I didn't want to go to the trouble of taking them off hangers so I took a huge heavy duty trash bag, poked a hole in the bottom, and used it like a garments bag with like 10 dresses per bag. That was more of a laziness thing than being especially careful. Your dresses will probably be fine, they're not as delicate as people make them out to be.

>> No.9935548

>>9935373

Before you pack, step one is to go through the dresses and take off the detachable bits. You can leave the waist ties, neck ties, ribbon stuff. Anything with a brooch backing (Meta's dresses tends to have a lot of detachable bows) runs the risk of making holes, or scratching up fabric, so remove that and pack it seperately. Anything delicate (like floral pins) should be packed seperately in a hard box to avoid being damaged by squishing. Label them all clearly.

Then, turn the dresses inside out. This way if some pressure causes the print to transfer, at least it's similar print to similar print (since they're all facing inwards).

Then pack them using whatever method you find the easiest. Honestly if you have the equipment and space I'd just go with vacuum bags, with the hangers packed with the dresses. When you get to the other side you can simply put them up straight away (you can flip them right sides out later on, but at least your closet will be unpacked and fully available).

If you can't or don't want to do vacuum packing, then I'd suggest this method (for dresses with skirts that don't have built-in petticoat): Lay the dress out. Fold the bodice down towards the skirt. Fold two sides of the skirt towards the middle. Starting from where the bodice is folded down, roll up the dress. If more skirt fabric starts coming out at the sides, just fold them towards the middle again and roll right over. It takes up the least space but they don't really like to stay rolled up, so you need to constrain them. Either tie a ribbon/slip a headband on them, or pack them into smaller laundry bags, then pack the laundry bags into your box.

(There's a vid of some chinese lolita packing her dresses like these for travelling btw)

For dresses that have a stiff petticoat, don't roll it. Do the same bodice fold, fold the skirt towards the middle, and do one more fold above where the petticoat starts. That's about the most you can do without damaging the petticoat.

>> No.9935564

>>9935547
>>9935548
I think I'll have to go the folding route due to lack of space. I'll pack the dresses last and if I end up having more space than I thought, I'll go the vacuum/garbage bag route instead. I know they're not that delicate, but they're incredibly important to me and I want to take the best care in handling them. Thank you both for the help, I really appreciate it!

I had an album on photobucket (lol). You could do an imgur album or a pinterest board, label it clearly as WTB wishlist. Someone also mentioned collectstor. A pinterest board has the advantage that you can zoom out until all the items are on screen, then screencap that and post it straight to the DD thread, and you can set it to private if you don't want other people stumbling across it.

There's only a few times that I'd link it -- when I'm open to trades I'd drop a link and say "this is what I'm willing to trade for, please don't show me anything not on this list". I could also see posting it in the BST **occasionally** (along with a price range) to see if anons have something they'd sell to me. Your wishlist isn't something you drop into every convo, and if you're not flush with enough money to buy everything on there at once I'd suggest you keep it on the downlow, otherwise people start remembering you as the person who never has money to buy anything and stop bothering to show you stuff.

This isn't going to help much, but... if you're under 160cm tall, not fat, then most burando socks (bar very few) generally tend to stay up. That's the target size they're made for, so long as you're not like, doing a decathlon, the socks only slip a little during the day and will stay up just fine by themselves.

If you really need help with socks staying up, go with tights. Sew the top of the socks to wherever they should be on a pair of sheer (but strong) tights with a long-ish whip stitch (kind of more like a zig-zag straight stitch). Keep the tights up, the socks will stay up. Don't overdo it though, some delicate socks can still tear or break if you overstretch them.

Anyways, my personal notion is to never make debt beside for study or a house. Even a car can be saved up for. Credit cards are a debt. Use a debit card only, and only spend money you have. Are you looking for actual stores in Japan? Or looking for Japanese brands to find suppliers online? Or looking for where to find general supplies? Kinda hard to figure out what you want.

Anyway, Padico (padicoshop.net) ships internationally, they're one of the more popular Japanese brands. It's not adviseable to buy off other Japanese shops as there's usually issues with shipping certain items like resin or the fuwafuwa thing via Japan post, so while Rakuten might be happy to ship it to Tenso it'd just get stuck there when Japan Post keeps rejecting it.

Physical Japanese shops, Tokyu Hands should have what you want, and probably some classes.

Taobao is a good source for things like dried flowers and resin molds. However, same issue with shipping fluids and powders. Go to Aliexpress for glitter powder and resin or other fuilds.

Wtf it's not on weight at all here.

By head (might have a few small mistakes as I'm half asleep):
Below 23 nothing on commercial items, 42 euros for personal shipments. Above that you par basic tax (21% for luxury items like clothes, 6% for things like food, 0% for medication. Extra tax on tabac and alcohol). If you go past 150 euro, you'll pay an additional 4,5% import fee on top. There is also inklaringkosten, the cost that the shipping company does your import forms, which you aren't allowed to do yourself. These are set. 13 euro for normal PostNL, 17 for EMS, between 15 and 20 for other services like GLS, UPS and DHL.

Not that the value for how much tax you pay is excluding shipping cost, but you do pay the tax and fees on value including shipping cost.

PostNL check quite random. Big change the other package just got trough. Their only upside is low change on customs because they check packages random unless there is something suspicious. A little time ago they let over 5KG of clothes and shoes go without making me pay. It was worth a few hundred.

Their customer service is composed of underpayed people, most of which are foreign. They are not retarded, just have no clue how it works. I often enough had to explain the system 3 times to them and suddenly I got help. They also are trained to say whatever gets you off their back, no matter truth or lie.

Honestly, my last shipment was screwed up twice and they literally told me that if I can't seu them for it they won't help. Switch to DHL. I'm done with them at the moment. PostNL is crap service since its not owned by the goverment anymore.

Just buy something anon, we all have our first purchase at some point. Just don't post yourself online until you're confident in your outfits if you're worried about judgement.

My first items were things that ended up really not being me once I figured out my style. My first main piece I bought that I didn't regret and still have to this day was the first Nameless Poem release, but that was a good few things into buying lolita. I think the only things I still have from before then are a variety of accessories/socks/a blouse from IW sales and my first petti. Then you work your way up once you figure out what you like.

Saying NP was my first real piece I've kept obviously dates me as pretty "new" compared to a lot of people - but like I found after a little while what I liked wearing on my body, you will as well. If you buy stuff you end up regretting oh well, sell it. Though I did end up donating what little Bodyline I had, kind of glad Bodyline isn't the newbie go-to anymore.

If you feel ugly or insecure, trust me, lolita will make that worse. strangers will gawk at you, people will be mean, etc. It takes a lot of confidence to wear lolita and feel good with it. You should work on that before starting wearing clothes, do your hair in a way that makes you feel good. wash your face if you're worried about acne, shave, learn makeup. do everything you can.
If you're worried about being made fun of, just don't post yourself online. You're not required to be seen online . Also don't expect your first go to be perfect or even good. Just buy what you like, and learn from there. Youre gonna make mistakes with purchases. it's gonna be okay.
also, lolita is not go big. You can easily wear less. If you're insecure you shouldn't be going out in ott sweet because you'll get a panic attack, i say this from experience.

>> No.9941392

Depends on how you interpret casual, but regardless, it can be done with a nice collared cutsew paired with a skirt; a printed cutsew paired with a more simple skirt, or even one of AP's shorter skirts (though whether they're lolita or not is debatable); a cutsew OP, or a regular OP with a simple design; and even JSKs can be worn casually and easily.
I recommend favoring more sturdy fabrics that are easier to take care of like cotton or thicker poly over thin and delicate fabrics like chiffon, organza, lace overlays, or any piece that requires dry cleaning; keep accessories, detail, and petti volume to a minimum; and remember that casual coords are not an excuse to be sloppy. You can be more lenient with "the rules" and you certainly don't have to look perfect and picture ready at all times, just remember that casual ≠ ita.

What kind of prints are you guys talking about specifically? I’m concerned a steamer might be too high temperature, why not just throw it in the machine on delicate cycle 30 degrees. All my printed AP dresses could handle it and I’ve got red strawberry millfeuille plus some prints with glitter that are doing just fine. The only time a dress bled was a polka dot dress which I suspect was during the time that ap changed factories since I’ve never had a trouble with bleeding before.

Either you're not reading closely enough or your sources aren't careful enough to distinguish different case uses.

Turning it inside out and hanging it upside down is for hard tulle petticoat. It has no effect on organdy or soft tulle.

Balling them up and storing them in a drawer causes organza to crease in weird directions, so when you fluff it out the kinks trap air and make it poofier. That is why you store them balled up and not flat or hanging. However, this will just deform hard tulle as they're hard, so for hard tulle, you hand them inside out so that when they're turned right side out gravity pulling them the other way will make them want to stick upwards, so they're poofier.

If you have a very crowded closet where hanging things up means squishing them in, that's the equivalent of putting a pile of books on top of your petticoat. So hanging any petti in a fully crowded closet is going to encourage it to flatten, because there's permanent pressure on it from other clothes since they're all so squished.

Generally, stick to polyester with polyester, because it's a pita to iron cotton that's attached to polyester and it looks bad if you don't iron the cotton properly.

Crepe is pretty light and drapey, so to maintain a consistent aesthetic I’d chose a similar fabric, nothing heavier — either another crepe, or chiffon. Crepe if you want a more solid ruffle, chiffon for sheer. Alternatively for a really different look you can go with bridal netting, or tulle lace, or layer a combination of all of these together.

That’s the only thing keeping me from moving back to California, probably won’t find a good job like that there.

Personally I don't care, both can look good. I mostly wear matte because I scuff the hell out of shoes and it shows up slightly less on matte shoes.

an*tai*na might be one of your best options, you can custom order shoes to be made to your length and width. It's pretty difficult to find anything over an 8 or 9 from brands (although some shoes run a bit large)
Depending on what style you're interested in, there are probably suitable "normie" shoes in your size that would work. When in doubt, ask if what you've found will work.

I'm scared to watch my expensive clothes because my normal clothes get ruined a lot after washing them. I don't know how to explain it but the fabric gets rough and tiny pieces/balls of fabric come loose especially with jeans. I pay attention to the temperature and don't put anything in a dryer because we don't have one. Should I be scared to wash my japanese clothes?

Honestly, your washing machine is probably just shit. That, or the quality of your normie clothes is shit. Try a cold wash on the most delicate setting your machine has. By the way, the little balls are called pilling, and there's fabric shavers (Google "lint shaver") you can buy that are specifically made to remove them. A regular razor works too, but be very careful and use a super light hand if you decide to try it. Good luck!
