I was waiting on someone else to post first but fuck it. I recently did a Rainbow Six Siege cosplay (Castle with the Bones headgear) with some people at Magfest 2018. Pretty kickass with some of the pics we took.

I'm missing some shit with my Castle though, I need the shoulder pads he's got. Some of the guys were linking it for me but not alot of luck finding something that looks exactly like the ones he's got.

what is the general opinion on wearing uniforms with bad associations? i'm asking cause I want to cosplay from Golden Kamuy and the character I want to cosplay from it wears a uniform that's pretty much identical to the ones worn in wwII as even though it takes place in the 1910's very few changes were made. It's an older Blackhawk Omega from the 90s, while the one I just bought was from the 2000s and has solid shoulders instead of mesh.

Probably the later because that's what people mostly do for the GIGN cosplays unless you wanna drop a 200+ on a GSG-9 AM95. My boyfriend has never expressed any interest in cosplay before, and I'm growing out of it. However, when we were watching Violet Evergarden the other day and now he wants to cosplay Violet and the major.

I have about 5 years of serious sewing experience and I don't think I can make military uniforms from scratch. I've tried looking for some online, but it's hard to find the dark green colour. Everything seems olive-green.

The leggings are going to have to be custom with perhaps making a design and having them printed from a company like redbubble (although you would lose out on the shiny appearance), or you could simply look around with terms like "Hexagon/honeycomb leggings"

You're going to want an ALICE rig with the older grey buckle which can be found for pretty cheap (I personally bought one from this guy a while back https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Military-LC-2-ALICE-Pistol-Belt-LARGE-2-Ammo-Pouchs-Y-Suspenders-GC-/290482280595?hash=item43a217d893)), and the jacket itself is a US issued snow camo set which can also be found for pretty cheap. If possible, size down a bit on the parka and pants since they're meant to be worn on top of a couple of insulating layers. I have a US night camo parka that's the same cut as the snow parka, and it fits a bit like a dress despite being a medium.

You could also just hem (if that's the right word) it to make it a little shorter.

Part of the reason why it looks so sloppy is because he's not wearing boots, and the pants aren't bloused. A set of elastic blousing straps along with maybe a little hemming would go a long way.
You could also possibly make a sort of wire hoop frame along the legs and arms to fill them out more and make it look closer to the PS1 model.

The vests used by GIGN are next to impossible to find stateside (and frankly pretty hard to find in Europe too), but you can use a replica IOTV to get pretty close. As for the jumpsuit, some basic navy blue coveralls with elastic cuffs would work fine.

In my opinion, there's alot of those that you can just skip because it'll look better.

Getting all the gear is really easy. It's the patches that are going to be a bit harder since you might have to custom order one or two.

As for the things on his back, the large pouch is a basic utility pouch and the smaller one looks like a grenade or pistol pouch.
Also don't forget the jungle boots. I would say get some Altamas since they're actually somewhat comfy, whereas the cheap Rothcos will look the part but they will kill your feet after a day on the con floor and they'll smell like a tire factory for a year.

Hey anons. I'm thinking of composing my own German Wehrmacht costume. Keep in mind I am new to this. There are cheap Bundeswehr jackets that are practically similar to ww2 ones so that is no problem, same applied for pants. Ordinary rubber boots are also very easy to find very cheap.
However the problem is the helmet. It is literally impossible to get a cheap Stahlhelm. All I find is either original ones for 400 dollars or replicas for 100+ dollars. Is there a way to get a cheaper Stahlhelm. I need something that looks decent but doesn't have ti be the best quality and ofcourse not an actual real helmet. Thanks.
