No, Deshima asked a really high price for Tomoparty. I heared that the asked more than 1000 euro and that is even without the speakers and such. That's why TomoWilbert decided to cancel Deshima. 1000 euros is not a lot if you calculate 2 dj's, 1 sound guy and 1 lights guy. They have to travel to the location, rent some extra material. Also gas, man hours and possibly a hotel stay.
€1000 is cheap. I payed more for the dj at my wedding and he only had to bring his laptop and lay for 4 hours.

What does the fact that they are a foundation, have to do with their pricing?
When you're in demand, you can ask, and it's not limited to what kind of legal firm your business is in. And if you're from Imagicon, that offer of €250 probably stems from a time where they still had their old crappy controllers and the best thing they brought in regards of lighting was a cheap disco light they bought at Action.

If Deshima costs 250, then they are either playing for a joke price, you are stealing from them or just because they support the cause. 250 for two DJ's playing for several hours is not alot.

Being a foundation doesn't mean that they must play for free. Gear and gas doesn't come cheap.

If you Deshima guys are reading this, keep up the good work. You deserve alot more love!

I've been to a few myself. And i can vouch that they do listen to the crowd. In the past they played harder stuff for a longer period of time. Now with the K-Pop hype, even they are slowly putting stuff in. At Nishicon I asked for some Russian Hardbass. It was awesome that they even had it and played it not long after.

The thing is, everybody have different tastes in music, and they can't please everybody.
I'd really love they'd do some Hip Hop myself, but they are always into the EDM styles. That is what they stand for as long i've been going to, and I respect that. I'm happy enough to hear some Trap, which they also do.

they should stick to their roots and keep playing J-core/Eurobeat with occasionally some trance.

Even in the early to mid 00s there was already quite a steady grow in popularity with anime like Naruto and later FMA that people downloaded online! Mostly by the 80s and 90s kids who were teenagers and twenty-somethings back then. Just because you're younger and entered it in the 10s, doesn't mean there was no steady and blooming community before that, baka.. lol now I kinda miss the 00s community we had in NL. It felt like it was easier to make new friends back then too.

Animecon will be streaming all the compo's on their Facebook page. If you click any of the scheduled videos you can also set a FB notification for when the stream starts. IIRC this means you can also watch the compos afterwards at a better time, a huge improvement over previous years if you ask me.

So I am bringing a big luggage case full of nendoroids I bought on a trip to Japan (customs just let me through :3c) but I don't have booth space obviously because that is ridiculous to get. How should I best sell them? From my hotel room? I made a sign as well, I bought the nendos fairly cheap so I've been thinking of asking 30 euros each.

No, I resolved the matter on discord. I spoke to Elf and gave her advice to change behaviour as well as a warning. That doesn't mean the shit between her and others is solved. But considering it's heated, my advice was to give it time. I'd prefer if the parties will just speak like adults and solve it asap, but that doesn't seem to be happening. So I did what I could to at least keep the discord from being a massive fight. I took that responsibility upon me a while ago, and as I was the one who invited Elf, all the more reason I feel a responsibility to keep her in check. If you have problems with how I dealt with this, you're more than welcome to slide in my DM's and tell me what I should've done instead.

The issue the Prop-Anon dealt with was the fallout these posts in the thread caused on our Discord, as is her responsibility as an admin. You may call that high and mighty, I call that proper community management. I do get that a lot of cosplayers have to cut costs by choosing for cheaper (and sometimes uglier) looking materials but then again not everyone has the same budget as the other, so you can't really judge people based on their income aswell.

I really don't care. I've seen people make some absolutely beautiful costumes using only cheap materials, as well as people make some of the ugliest shit I've ever seen using only expensive "pro-tier" materials. Having access to fancy tools and materials definitely helps, but in the end it's the creator's talent, or lack thereof, that really makes or breaks a costume.

With that being said, I would like to point out that creators who get sponsored still have to work for their materials. Typically they'll just get a discount and some free samples, but even when they do get stuff for free they are still expected to advertise the living shit out of their sponsor. This could be hosting workshops for their sponsor, posting tutorials using only rebranded ClueyName™ materials or simply flat out mentioning their sponsor in nearly every post they make. Basically anything to make their fans realize what can be made using the materials from their sponsor and get them to order stuff. It may not be a full-time job, but it's still a time-consuming nonetheless.

When some chick just got a new job and wants to get her tits out by doing budouir. I know my employer wouldn't be pleased with such a stunt.

Every year that I see him present with Manon, I cringe at all the comments I hear about him from all around me in the audience. He is stiff, his reaction is slow and every joke she tries to make is bad because of his reaction to it.

Jeroen is great at many things. I think he is good in all the backstage work and managing things. He does way too much really. He is nice to be around in private and hang out with too. But a great or even good presenter he is not. It is time that he lets go of that part so he can put more attention to all the other stuff he has to do.

Each year I yearn to see how Manon will do with a different presenter by her side and maybe then I wont have to see so many people leave the audience during the acts or halfway through presentations.

Moshi Moshi was horrible! Bootlegs, no atmosphere, food was extremely expensive. Most of the food was bad quality as well. And they switched location. They went to the other side of the park. I left after 1 hour.

Animecon has one employee, none of the others get payed and all of their money goes into making Animecon. So no, they're not going to pay for a presenter. Also, who would they choose? Someone who knows cosplay, has stage presence, has time, want to do it for free and can get along with Manon isn't easy to come by. Volunteer work is still work, and not many people want to do it.

I think they are actually doing pretty well as a presentation couple.
I used to think the same, but after competing, I noticed that Jeroen sets the show and Manon the flavor. He directs what happens, and Manon gets the liberty to do what she does best.

But what I like most, is that they don't center the shows around themselves. Too many cosplay competitions I have seen, where the host tries to take the stage for themselves and make the cosplayers second. Some jokes left and right are nice, but the freaking show is not about you. I want to see cosplay.
