You can just barely see the pompoms if you look carefully on the left edge of the skirt, she added some fugly fat layer of sheer chiffon underneath it. I don't know why she's skimping on a better petti, better socks, better gloves, ditch that dodgy crown, straighten out her shoes, nicer choker, use an actual underskirt, less fuzzy wig, nicer backgrou -- actually you know what, just burn her at the stake, dress and all.

Then she shouldn’t put her self in a situation to be made fun of. I mean, she didn’t have to copy another coordinate. She could have been inspired by it and done things differently like a diffrent hair color, pose difference, not used a short scepter but maybe a purse or staff, wore wrist cuffs instead of gloves. Wore a diffrent headress that wasn’t a bad ripoff crown. There’s plenty of things she could have done to be inspired but not directly copying it in a cheap manner. Copying someone then posting it on the internet, people will call you out on that and make fun of you for it. Don’t copy you don’t want to be called out for it. If you do copy say you copied the look and copy it exactly. Not cheaply.

So many people (including myself) have autism and other mental things. We still know not to copy things without credit, not to wear replica's, and to look in a mirror and dress well. I've always been told, autism is a reason, no excuse. You still need to learn what to do and what not to do in which group, and if you do stupid shit better learn from it. Obviously, reading the comment, she doesn't even try to better herself and learn.

Too much people use things like austim, social anxiety and other mental stuff as an excuse why no one can be mean or even give concrit to them, instead of (try) learning how to deal with situations in a way that does work with whatever they have.

I actually strong dislike ageplay, thank you. I mean more in mature styles like classic and gothic, like having a cleavage like rococo dresses. The more mature and refined lady-like kind of sexapeal we see a lot in history.

>> No.9907392

Adding onto this.
If she researched, she would know that it takes some heavy investing to make a passable coord. She just opened her closet and checked off the lace monsters and mini skirts but didn’t look for “ is this made for Lolita” point. That should be the first rule to not be ita. Is the dress made for lolita fashion. If no, then don’t wear it. Then check of the other points of lace monsters, poor quality and hem length.

Also if she can’t afford cheap 40 dollar blouse, maybe this fashion is too rich of a taste then what she’s ready for. Especially if you can get a mediocre but passable blouse from bodyline for 25 dollars.

>> No.9907399

>>9907389
>>9907392
Agreed. Her problem definitely was that she did not do as much research as she said. I still think that if she wore actual lolita pieces, it would look half-decent (not good, but not blatantly ita), but the glaring problem was that she “researched” the fashion (probably just glanced at Wikipedia) and thought “hey, I can do this with normie shit”. We have specific lolita brands for a reason. Even Bodyline is at least made for lolita.

This is part of the reason why people are gettind the wrong idea. The community as a whole doesn’t have a strong new repository of guidelines for ‘this is lolita, that is not lolita’ for new people doing beginner research. And lone people don’t have anyone to tell them. The old sites are outdated. The newer ones are ass-patting or run by fairly new lolitas or worse, doily wearing itas. So we get this guy thinking he’s doing it right when nothing at all is right.

>> No.9907806

>>9907799
We have more info that's easy to access to beginners than ever. Some common sense and comparing what you see on photo's that look good with items you see for sale fix it.

There is also more usable stuff for sale more easily than ever. Idiots who blindly buy anything with the tag "lolita" and who can't tell if something looks okay when seeing stuff, especially worn stuff, need to learn to think, not be spoonfed the correct answers only.

I agree that people are too asspatting tho. But still some common sense and being more critique if things are good/true or not when you find it online would help a lot of people a lot more.

>> No.9907813

>>9907806
I think many newbies who don’t know anything about regular fashion or quality to begin with have trouble developing their eye for what’s good vs what is not and why. There may be more lolita shopping resources overall but there’s far more noise, keyword spamming and nonsense to wade through too like the cat tights advert.

If people who are new don’t get to read good concrit of others, then it’s hard to learn, so yes, the ass-pat mentality needs to stop and honest concrit needs to come back.

This is why I don't think teenagers should get into lolita. I used to be an absolute ita in HS because I couldn't afford anything. After getting a decently paying job I can drop money on lolita every month. It feels so good and worth the wait. I'm in my mid twenties now.

This one could be good with some more work. The apron skirt needs to fit her better, and could use a lace trim on the bottom. She could also use a wig and some more makeup. Color coordination is not bad, aside from the normie purse being a bit too bright. I like how the tights/socks almost completely match. It's a lot worse than that. That Bodyline dress goes up to 6L. If you assume the girl in the middle is wearing genuine btssb (usually M-L size) then this means the ita is shoving her fat ass into a dress much smaller than her size for some reason.

Maybe she's not really a lolita at all and borrowed somebody's clothes, idk.

What is up with fatties skipping petticoats anyway. The two on the left are demonstrating exactly what happens with a rectangle skirt, a lot of bulk around the waist and hips, and then it's flat around your knees. Dear fatties, the purpose of petticoats is to make your waist look smaller by contrast to your poof. Don't skimp on it, you just look fatter if you do.

Sagging boobs and undefined waists can be fixed with a custom-sized corset, actually. It’s not cheap, but that’s being a fatty in general — your food costs more because you’re eating more, your clothes cost more because you’re using more material and everything needs to be sized up, you need reinforced furniture and more space in your living area, etc etc.

It’s not really my place to tell other people that they need to lose weight, if they chose to continue being fat and bear that extra cost (and effort) of being fat, that’s up to them. There’s just no way to bend reality though, no one’s going to make a corset using 4 times the fabric and then take a loss on selling it. Being a fatty will always cost more and be more effort (well, unless you don’t care what you look like, in which case you end up in this thread…)

As for petticoats, lolita’s not really something you’d get into if you’re worried about width. Sweet lolitas (average-sized ones) get all happy and high when their petti is so wide they have to squish it down to walk through doorways. The poof is actually the one place they are encouraged to be as wide as possible.

I came into lolita few years ago after people had switched to FB and EGL was far from the only place. But really, I think common sense and knowing a bit of clothes and quality in general would help a lot of people enough to tell a shady website from a good one. Or at least to tell them that that cheap ass monstrosity they bough isn't looking as great as the picture they saw online.

It's not hard to see the difference between cheap, crappy, ill-fitting clothes and proper lolita. Nor is it hard to see what looks like those picture you admire and what doesn't even get close.

I think it's more a problem that people want too bad and stop thinking because they don't want to disappoint themselves with their stupidity, as well as people who don't want to have to think or spend and actually do something but still want to be treated equal as those who do. And so they start screaming like idiots that their cheap crappy clothes are just as well lolita dresses and are just as pretty as the ones most actually wear, and that not everyone has to wear brand and the fashion is about self expression and shouldn't have rules and any other bullshit excuse ita's make about why their crappy outfit should not be criticised.

People just need to be honest and critical to themselves.

You just described a lot of people in my comm and as far as I can tell, they do feel beautiful. The only way you can make it work is to use a single chubbo girl, her face and hair clearly shown and maybe a time/date stamp clearly in the photo. Put her in small sausage-making clothes and then put her in clothes that fit (and you'd also have to edit the photos so the sausage clothes can't be cropped off and used without context, otherwise that's just going to get posted around without context). It has to be the same girl to show the huge difference wearing fitting clothes can make, and you need the timestamp to show the girl didn't just lose weight over time, it's 100% all in clothes that fit.

The last ita thread had one anon repeatedly commenting that fat girls shouldn't be itas because they're fat, what she missed is that every ita she commented that on, the girls clearly didn't fit their clothes. I think "bad fit" has actually become their way of judging whether a girl is "one of us fatties", as in, if you fit into your clothes, you're automatically not a fatty and they can write you off as not worthy of their time. Regardless of your actual weight, which is absolutely pants-on-head retarded, but I really think that's where they're at now.

So if you use different models for the sausage clothes and the fitting clothes, they'll just write it off as the sausage girl is "one of them" and "just fat, not ita", the girl in fitting clothes is automatically smaller because she fits in her clothes (regardless of her actual weight), and that you don't know what you're talking about and therefore can be fully dismissed.

Like I said, honestly kind of pants-on-head retarded. Makes it so difficult to even try and help them due to their own stupidity.

That doesn't accomplish anything, though. They already know they're fat and that they look like stuffed sausages.

If you don't show them that they look much better in bigger dresses, they'll just continue stuffing themselves into smaller dresses and stretching it out. The real issue is that they think being fat means it's normal to stuff themselves into smaller dresses and look like a sausage, rather than scaling up and finding clothes that fit.

You don't even need to go taobao for that. IW already does their dresses in M and L sizing, and their blouses already come in S, M and L.

Then there's Angelic Pretty, whose sizing is all over the place. The smaller dress would be something like Misty Sky or Holy Lantern, if you leave the shoulder straps short both are especially shitty as they're very high-waisted and only 83cm long. For bigger dress, if you search lolibrary a lot of their jsks have adjustable shoulder straps and more shirring. Example would be Freshly Picked Strawberries jsk, or some of the half-shirred special sets that go up to 110cm waist.

If you're willing to cross brands, you can even go with something like AP's 83cm jsk as the smaller dress, vs Metamorphose or Physical Drop. Both Meta and PD are already pretty big but both also have a lot of shirred pieces, giving you even bigger sizing. Something like Fantasy Parade shirred jsk will provide a huge contrast compared with Misty Sky.

Now somebody is probably going to tell me the entitled fatties will still ask why they can't wear all the popular prints like Misty Sky and Holy Lantern. I don't have an answer for that, I'm afraid. I suspect denial of reality features quite heavily in their mental outlook.

What? BunnyHouse makes everything to measure. MeLikesTea I'm not sure, but I think so? Those two have been the most recommended lately.

And even the stick sized ones on TaoBao and such, they have full elastic or coord around and can go MUCH bigger than the waist of dresses. If they can wear those skirts, they most likely are crushing themselves in half with those more than the petticoat would.

Fat ita's in too small "brand-sized" dresses aren't scared to be crushed into half by their petty, obviously...

If you gulls want to see some fatties freak out that this model is not "plus size" enough go to this post on FB. It's especially sad because when they originally posted this, they used the words plus size friendly but they've since changed it to roomy because of the fattysalt going on in the comments. The poor model even gives her measurements and she confirms she is plus sized. The fatties then tell her she's more of a US medium.

I really wish we could do it that simple! I decided to always be honest but not give opinions when not asked for/inappropriate place, and be as kind/respectful as possible. I made so much enemies by telling people the whole world isn't a great happy group of friendly people! I'm somehow a nazi, racist, and elitist as well (just like anyone people don't like). I know this example is terrible, but it would be fun to take a lousy coord with potential and shoop it to show what it could look like.

Unless it's another sausage in a casing.

Wa Lolita is hard to pull off, anyway. Why do so many choose it for baby's first coord? If you want an Asian look, just wear a kimono. It's easier.

This is not what ladder lace is for. I can't believe the dress was manufactured like this even if it's normie. I sense either an unfinished homemade dress or a thrift find that was *enhanced*. Either way, it looks unfinished. Sloppy.

Usually weebs fuck up wearing kimono too. Kimono ita is a thing and it's awful.

I’m not going to go with the obvious “wear a blouse” because I honestly think those types of dresses look ok blouseless, despite being against the rules . But if that’s what she’s going for, she still needs to tuck in that bra strap (I would personally use a strapless bra), get a red bag, lose the minion keychain, get nicer accessories, dear god brush that hair, and put on a nice red bow.

>>9910517
Ok, the dress itself looks like it could be from a more casual lolita brand like Emily Temple Cute or something, but everything else does not even pass as casual lolita.

>> No.9910537

Don’t suggest this. Kimono is harder than Lolita and often more expensive too until you learn your way around the market and have your basics. Less size forgiving too.

Right, Japanese fatties and possibly chubby westerners. My point was that they aren’t and the dress is probably as forgiving as they were willing to go and they are trying to say nicely,’ hey look, we do make some dresses that fit reasonably extended sizes’. I’m sure fatties refuse to believe that if you make it bigger it will sag and bag on smaller or normal people because their thinking is to ‘just tighten the back lacing’. They are delusional about sizing completely. They also don’t seem to understand that Japan and China are still the main market. If they have not seen a lot of lolitas in person, or been to a brand tea, they probably also don't realize how much small average size asians proportionally are compared to average Americans. And they refuse to believe that lolita is the fatty-chan Japanese fashion already because to them, the Japanese girls wearing it don’t seem fat.

She's more unfortunate in her looks than ita - other than her fringe and the hoop-skirt under the dress sitting awkwardly, she's not really ita, she's just got an awkward face, a horrible smile and is quite chubby. Even if she lost weight, she can't really fix her face - all she can do is learn not to do toothy grins in photographs because they aren't flattering.

Bless her heart. She should really work on the make-up and facial expressions for photos. Some gulls forget that extra makeup us better for photos.

Kimono ita (beyond the weeb in a bathrobe level) is harder to call out unless they are just making blatantly bad kitsuke mistakes. Purists still adhere to seasonality and proper kitsuke but deliberate rule breaks for style and things like kimono hime and wearing yukata ‘oiran style’ like Sweet Angel shows are kind of subjective. Also there is the problem of not many here actually being experienced enough to critique. I can see it quickly devolving into a free for all.
Might be fun.
The opposite of iki is busui or I guess more rudely and direct, yabo.

Ok, I’ll admit that Bodyline has improved over the years, but this one...yikes. The lace looks horrible! Also the tags. Like, I get you’re trying to advertise that you sell both cosplay and lolita, but this is just perpetuating misconceptions to newbies that lolita is cosplay.

Actually, I don’t agree. I don’t think she has an unfortunate face at all.

She’s fat enough that her chin disappeared, which means she’s packing fat in her facial/neck area. So if she loses weight and that comes off, her face shape will change. Which means losing weight **will** help her look better, or at least give her her chin back.

Second, that goddamn fucking wig that she just slaps on and then shoves the fringe to either side. Who the fuck can look good when your forehead becomes a triangle and your face shape is cut off by some wedge of hair near your eyes?

Third, those pink mushy messes under her eyes. Like seriously, this girl needs to go back to basics, like shaping her brows and doing some little contouring. Makeup is supposed to be about looking better, makeup isn’t about drawing shitty pink crayon messes on your face.

See, her face alone is not as unfortunate as you think. Most of it is bad decisions and half-assing that makes her look bad.

As for her actual coord, short sleeves with fat arms are a mistake. (semi-)opaque long sleeves, so that people can’t tell which part of the sleeve is empty and which part contains your fat arm, is the right way to go. You’ve already pointed out her petticoat problem. She’s also shoehorning pinks that don’t match and hoping the insta filter covers it up, but even with the filter you can see her pink accessories match the sa.ku.ra. dress on the left much better than her own dress.

I think it’s misleading and actually a little mean to write off a fat girl as “unfortunate, nothing she can do”. If they just put in some little effort and pay attention to what they’re doing, they don’t have to spend the rest of their lives looking like shit and being made fun of, most of them can actually look very nicely put together if they put in the effort.

Both of the wigs look cheap, but other than that, the left one could be an interesting coord with proper lolita shoes, and the right one could be ok without the random splashes of black. If bittersweet is what you’re trying to achieve, the black and pastel need to be well balanced. If you can’t do that properly, just go with sweet.

Vanity sizing. I'm a britbong solid 8 or sometimes a 10 around the shoulders because I lift, which is slim but hardly scary skinny, in fact I'd say for the 1980s and before the obesity epidemic hit full swing it would be smackdab average.

Anyway, a UK size 8 would be a U.S. 4, which is the size I go for when I buy vintage stuff from back in the nineties. But these days at the GAP? They put me in the xxxs or 000 size range, it's like every couple of months I go a couple sizes down there while my old clothes fit the same. I'm 5'7 so there are hordes of women more petite than I am, they have to go with xxxxs, xxxxxs? Where will it end? It's no wonder someone who's obese thinks she fits an M when vanity sizing is completely out of control.

Agreed. You can choose Lolita, or you can chose cake and the eventual heart, kidney, and liver failure (not kawaii) that comes with it. You can only have Lolita and cake if you have some measure of some control and eat it as an occasional treat, and not whole sheet cakes from Costco as a snack or pre-breakfast.

I think you are forgetting that these girls will squeeze themselves into anything strong enough to hold in their rolls, so to them a medium sounds about right. It won't fit them well but if it technically fits they will wear it. I have had fat friends try and get me to try on and buy pants/shirts that were way to small on me and sort of uncomfortable to wear but they swore items looked good on me and wanted me to get them.
