What are you having trouble with? I'm no expert but I've made passable ones before. Maybe I can help.

Also, there's a con in my state that weekend so the local comm is just doing a panel/brunch buffet at the con but I dont want to deal with the overcrowned con center and pay the additional price for a con ticket in top of the buffet ticket to get in. It's just not worth it. I might go to the zoo or something as a lonelita.

Well the last ones I made turned into one giant, fungus-like macaron, and the recipe had way too much sugar in it. Every recipe I've tried so far has like twice as much sugar as almond flour and I'm kinda hoping not to use that much.

Different macar-non but which are you using French or Italian recipe, imo French is easiest, you want equal portions but flour and sugar, and make sure you let them sit after piping til they're touch-dry, also as an ausfag, humidity and weather can screw things up despite following the best recipes so there tends to be an element of luck no matter what you do, also remember not all your failures are inedible... To keep this kinda on topic, do you guys feel like ILD should have an element of normie outreach, or be more of a celebration of your own community? I was thinking of printing out little cards to give curious onlookers since our meet is going to be in a public park on a weekend.

I'm going to lunch with my comm. I'm pretty excited, except for one girl. Leaving out details to preserve and unity, but she's planning a coordinate that I think is in very poor taste. I'm actually hosting my first meet for this ILD, also a potluck in a park like the other anon! (Same comm maybe?) A bit nervous but it looked like no one else was going to do anything in either of the nearby comms so I just decided I might as well get my hosting virginity out of the way.

But with it being a picnic, I feel like I need activities other than us eating, taking pictures, and chatting. I got in Tulle #2 and Le Panier which we could look at those but I'm blanking a bit on activities we could do outside in public that would appeal to most lolitas. Anyone have suggestions? Or maybe I'm just being nervous and we should actually be fine without activities? We're a very small comm, I'm expecting 10-20 people, 20 being a very generous max.

I hope you guys have a great one, I don't think we're going to have games for ours because a lot of the people who are coming are newbies. Probably just best to have conversation and let stuff flow, for us.

>> No.9894486

Yep, another picnic planner here lol.
I think a picnic is a generally fun idea for a summer meet-up, especially in the countries where the weather is crappy during the other seasons. But a picnic requires more effort than just going to a cafe or the movies or whatnot, that's why many comms save it for a special occasion such as ILD. That's how it is in my comm anyway. Last year we had our first picnic ever, all previous years it failed for one reason or another, and everyone was really happy about it. However, when I offered to have another one a month and a half later nobody was motivated to do it.
Anyways I'm excited to repeat it this year.

>>9894161
What were you going to put on the card? If it's some social media info, like your comm's FB page, you can try printing one card and then offer people to take a pic of it on their phone - that way they won't lose it and the info will be on hand if and when they decide to use it.
You can also put a little disclaimer about what lolita fashion is and isn't, idk.

I skipped my comm tea for the same reason. But no FOMO the food looked disgusting and burnt and all the itas came out of the woodwork. To top it off the girl hosting made a tidy profit off the whole thing.

How? I hosted something and knew I was going to be out of pocket from the beginning. It was great fun though, no regrets.

free venue, small amounts of crappy homemade food, no decorations and she still charged proper tea room prices. If it was catered or had good decorations or games and prizes the price would have been fine. She is already known as a bit of a moocher so it's not surprising.

Celebrated it today instead with a picnic with some girls in our comm. It was fine, most girls were nice, the weather was good, just wish I was at something like a high tea though. Normally not into picnics because I’m a snob about good food. Some girl brought peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and my bougie ass kinda turned my nose up. PB&J ain’t kawaii.

At least she brought something. I can't tell you how many 'potluck' meets I've been to where half the attendees are just freeloading.

What fancy dish did you bring? And why even bother going if you're just going to shit all over an event you know you won't enjoy anyway?

>> No.9902207

>>9902190
I brought PB+J to my meet cause I know some people are picky eaters and I thought it would be a nice gesture. I didn't have time to make them look super cute, but our picnic was outside sitting in the grass so I figured it didn't have to be crazy fancy.

I'm sure you did--I tried to talk to everyone there. I'm afraid I might have come off as annoying, since I can get a little energetic, but I really had a lot of fun and I hope to see everyone there again soon!

Not dumb enough to post info identifying who I am, but it was something sweet plus extra blankets and supplies. I’m not saying I’m not a snob, I did want to enjoy other girls company though.

You know when comms host picnics for ILD they are probably not planned super in advance, since they're low maintenance meet. If you're such a meet and food snob why didn't you just plan the high tea for ILD?

I don't understand how you can shit on a meet when you did absolutely nothing to plan a different one.

My girlfriend isn't into Lolita, but she let me dress her and take her with me to a meet today! It was a low key meet but I have anxiety so smaller groups are easier to manage. Unfortunately, while telling a story about why the zipper on my JSK hates me, it actually gave way and broke altogether which was embarrassing and inconvenient. I also tripped coming out of a building and completely fell so IDK if I'll ever be invited out with this comm ever again.

Covering flakes with your own money shouldn't even be an issue. Just make a paid in advance event, close it two weeks prior, make the reservation. No refunds. It's so fucking easy, any poorfag can plan a tea meet.

That's why there's no excuse for whining about meets you don't like, when you don't host anything yourself.
