So anyone hear back from AX about panel acceptance? They said end of May and now that it’s officially June I’m sweating. Don’t want to have to make something last minute but also don’t want to work on something for nothing when I can focus on my cosplay instead.

Some people actually do. Not that guy but Kim's circle in general is suspect as shit

>Part of the infamous "After Dark" photog circle where almost everyone got outed as either molesters or perverts, namely Masamune, Tracewyvern and Richard Bui
>Still collaborated with King Lin a year and a half ago, a known rapist

Pulled from a patch friend's page..

"I finally typed up the Bunny Girl Maid Cafe pasta, so here it is in a more visible Spot. Shout out to Church for commemorating our misery;

We each paid about $40 for this and it promised to be an "After Hours Adult Themed Bunny Girl Maid Cafe"
Sounds legit as fuck right?
Wrong.
After spending all day baking in the sun, drinking the booze that we bought and trudging through hot ass LA, we were ready for some titties and some fun times.
We get to the venue what we feel fairly early, about 45 mins before show time and ask the dude standing at the door if this is the spot for the Bunnygirl cafe.
Get kind of non-committal answer but we hang around.
Other security guard comes up, and goes "You guys aren't in line! The line is around the corner."
(This happens ALL FUCKING CON BTW, FUCK THEIR LINE SETUPS HOLY SHIT) and we go and get in line. 30 minutes later, "Alright, we're about to get moving! WHOOO!" another 15... "Alright, we're gonna get moving!" Half hour after our showtime is supposed to begin, line finally starts moving in.

We walk what feels like a fucking mile to get to the doors, and lo and fucking behold, the maids are TERRIBLE.
Half of them are 3/10 Alpo looking bitches, the other good looking half might pass for 6's with a bit of work, maybe 1 or 2 7's sprinkled in.
The unlucky first few got chicks we nicknamed "Rancor-Chan' and "The Penguin." Those poor fucks.
We got a 4/10 chubby latina and one of the 6's/7's who played up Stupid Genki Bunny Girl WAAAAAY too hard.
So, we're sitting there, pissed as fuck already and spitting fucking VENOM about this bullshit, and the stage show starts.
They're playing fucking Megan Trainor and the humor is horrible...
(cont)

>> No.9900249

>>9900247
Even worse, these costumes obviously

HAVE NOT BEEN WASHED.

The smell of cream cheese vag and moldy FUPA fill the air, it's fucking rough.
Then our bunnies wanna play a fucking game.
THEY WANNA PLAY A FUCKING GAME?!?! I THOUGHT WE ALREADY WERE, BECAUSE THIS WAS SOME SAW TORTURE BULLSHIT.
We statrt making Pentagrams out of the Jenga blocks, hopefully to summon Satan to bring the minions he has running this show back to fucking hell where they belong, but no fucking dice.

We were seated with some random Asian bros who thought it was just as bad and we considered making a tactical retreat with the table. Like; Lift up table, carry out the door in a tactical retreat.
That gets passed up. Then, it fucking happens.

The RAFFLE DRAWING.

You get a picture. With the Bunny Girls. With Rancor-chan and the Penguin.
The numbers are read off one by one, the whole --- crew sweating bullets... We all have the first 5 numbers...
Then, the last number gets read out.
It's fucking MY TICKET. I was pissed. Pissed beyond all belief.
So I swapped it out with a ticket laying on the table, and we all fight to pass the buck so that none of us have to go to that Sarlac Pit of Single Mothers in Mildewy cosplay.
One of the Asian bros bravely ((Sic; Stupidly)) Sacrifices himself, and we promptly leave and head to the nearest bar.

This is what happened with the Bunnygirl Maid Cafe."

>> No.9900251

I was there. It was in fact, that bad.

Like, we laugh about it now, but we paid the same amount for that as for a professional fetish performance, worse, more than that.

I'll amend this statement
I didn't go to the regular maid cafe
I should have done that instead because they had a guest from one of the most well known/celebrated JP cafes there to teach the other girls and 'perform,' would have been better for no other reason than having a pro in the house.

Try looking for a "casual cosplay" (ergo characters wearing normal outfits). All you really need is a wig and to hunt through your closet or local thrift store for the rest. School uniforms are also a good bet. They're pretty inexpensive or easy to put together with clothing you can buy from the store. Honestly, even wearing an anime related t-shirt is good enough

Maybe an AX veteran can tell me. I am cosplaying San from Princess Mononoke. Do I need to make a hard sheath for my Kunai? I 3D printed it and the weapon's policy says anything with a sharpened edge needs a hard sheath but I'm not sure this counts as a sharpened edge.

>MFW Staffers and Security are forced to check every person coming to see if they have a badge on them and now gives people the chance to make counterfeit badges so they don't have no names on them. It gets so crowded in the LACC, that the Fire Marshall has to be called in

>What things are you most looking forward to at AX?
Cosplaying for the first time! I've put a lot of money, effort, and love into my costume and I'm proud to show it off. Also, a lot of artists I follow on twitter are tabling there. I usually limit myself on purchases but this year I've been working my ass off and it's time to treat my self!
>What things are you dreading at AX?
The July heat. I'll be wearing a blazer on top of a long sleeved shirt AND thigh high socks. Not excited to sweat like a pig
>How's your cosplay going?
Great! I just have to make a few more adjustments to my wig and then I'm done! If I have enough time, I wanted to make a "Best Girl" badge as well, but we'll see.
>Favorite spots around the convention? Could be places to chill, restaurants, fun shit, etc.
This is going to sound silly, but there's a long hallway with a large window in LACC that overlooks the city. It gets a lot of traffic and it's a nice open space to chill in. I like to sit with my friends and watch all of the cool cosplays go by.
>Are you planning to hook up at AX, or maybe even look for something more serious?

Artists Alley/Taking cosplay photos. Shooting the breeze with these folks have really been fun the last couple of years and especially fun on the cosplay side since I lean towards unique and obscure stuff I recognize. Those cosplayers always appreciate that I get the reference.
>What things are you dreading at AX?
Lots of things, but the two main contenders are the guaranteed breakdowns (whether it's technical like the badge readers or miscommunication like one of the staff had everyone line up in the wrong spot) and losing track of my spending budget, which has gotten better but is still a thing.
How's your cosplay going?
I'm a 6'5" Irish-Caucasian male so cosplay for me is almost impossible to pull off convincingly, but I've got some rad shirts I can't wait to bust out. Just need to drop 5-8 more pounds for maximum effect.
>Favorite spots around the convention? Could be places to chill, restaurants, fun shit, etc.
Almost all of the food establishments in the Honda plaza are my slice of heaven, but on-site my favorite spots to chill are the AMV rooms on the 2nd level. Air-conditioned, usually lots of space and I know almost everyone who runs the events so at least 1 person to visit with/help out.

LA Live area in general, and the JW Marriott lobby and bar. JW's upstairs is a decent place for photos if you don't care that much about background and just want decent light, minimal crowds, and a place out of the heat.
>Are you planning to hook up at AX, or maybe even look for something more serious?

I went last year and it was decent. I'm not sure if they've changed much but the title, but I can tell you about my time there
>Entry fee gets you one drink, but additional drinks are $10 and it's only one shot in the cup with mixer
>Comedian on stage telling some jokes and hosting a couple of games/trivia
>He was pretty charismatic, kept the crowd in a good mood and gave out prizes to the winners of the games, I got 4 free drinks for my table, some other people got event tickets
>Between the comedians sets a different dancer would come out and do a strip tease/pole dance
>Last girl went down to just pastys and really knew how to work the pole
I don't regret going, but I'm not sure if I'd do it again this year. I'm gonna go through all the ticketed event options and try to decide what I want.

Oh, but since there's stripping expect some turbo spergs
>As I come in the room and get my drink some asian guy comes in and frantically asks if anyone has taken the table right in front of the stage
>Tell him no

Last year's Fakku party with Anamanaguchi and Meishi Smile was the highlight of my 2017 AX. I couldn't get tickets to their rooftop party, but that looked really fun too. I haven't seen any indicator that Fakku is doing any club shows this year, but an anon in the last thread said that rumor has it they'll be doing something at Lounge 21. The first post I found regarding the matter was on May 17th:
>A fakku employee answered in the last ax post, he knows they'll do it, and thinks friday
But searching the previous AX threads in the archive doesn't actually reveal any posts from anyone claiming to be from Fakku stating that there would be a party. Sadly, it seems like for the time being, all this talk of a Fakku party being on Friday is just a rumor.

Anon, words cannot prepare you for the amount of waiting in line you will do at AX, especially if you didn't get a premier badge. Want someone's autograph? Camp out in line, literally all night long. I'm not even joking. That's the norm now. As for panels and events, the general rule is to get in line 2 hours before it starts. Maybe more if they booked talent with a cult following and they gave them a small room (like they did for Miss Monochrome last year).

>>9907999

Yep this. As the hours pass, the likelihood of getting your autograph dwindle. Shit's crazy. I'm just too old to be doing that stuff now. I have a swanky Airbnb across the street from the con, so fuck spending my nights on the street; I'll leave that to the homeless and diehard weeaboos.

Can I bring my own merch that I want signed or is it a buy whatever they brought to sign kinda deal?

>> No.9908186

>>9908173

Depends on the guest. Some will sign whatever. Some will only sign specific things. Some are guests that AX gets. Some are guests that come because a company brought them. Those are the ones that have the worst rules. Odds are you either have to wait in line right after the exhibits hall opens, such as with bookwalker guests, or sometimes you have to buy a shitton of stuff to get a ticket. Or even worse, sometimes they are given away at panels and you have to be lucky to get a chance at an autograph. When in doubt, a shikishi usually works.

The normal autograph line is a hellish thing. They pack people in, it's outside in the cold, and it starts super fucking early. You go up to the booth all at once, so you can only really stand in line for one person. When that person is out of tickets, you're SOL. You can get a ticket for someone else though, so some people shift to other people meaning past some point no one will get an autograph from anyone. Sometimes with some less popular people you can get in line again and get it. It's really anyone's guess as to how popular someone is going to be.

even if they did check everything guess what isn't getting checked? people outside the security zone! guess what's a big fat target? people waiting to go through security! you remember last year day 1, right? the outside was insane. you had to wade through people if you were trying to enter/exit and you were an exhibitor/industry/press. imagine what a drive by (okay, roll by, it's LA after all) could do to a crowd like that

Some autograph tickets are locked behind buying stuff at the merch hall, and they have limited numbers of them so you have to get there day one and hope they don't run out. I nearly got fucked last year
>Last year on day 2 found out danganronpa voice actors were doing autographs
>At their merch booth they're all out of the dangan autograph tickets, but give me a ticket for another of their games autograph booth
>Went down to the autograph hall and found the dangan booth, just decided to fucking go for it
>Flashed the back side of my ticket to the security guard, and even though it was the wrong color he let me in
>Got them to autograph a poster and a bag
I would have been so fucking salty if I had missed out on it

You have industry guest and you have AX guests.

Industry guests have different rules for autograph pickup depending on which company brought them in, typically locked behind purchases, booth visits and panel visits or even lottery.

AX guests have an autograph ticket line, and depending on popularity, you may have to line up at 3am or earlier to pick up.

Pretty sure Go Nagai, will have a long ass line for him.

i liked having them not know where the other entrances were. i had to go outside the main entrance to find one of my staffers which was a fucking mistake. should have just had her walk all the way to the back. with that said there's still a lot of people in line in the morning before the exhibit hall opens because that's where people want to go. i mean there's an exhibitor/press entrance but i like just being able to walk in. the one in front of the main lobby involved swimming through the crowd. the one near the entertainment hall is short but you then have to walk all the way across the entire convention center to get to where you wanted to go in the first place.

alternatively the autograph line at night is a potential target because everyone is sleeping out there and there's no security. it's maybe 50 ft from the road that runs parallel to it.

>>9908260
i'm convinced it will only be oldfags who would get into line which are much lower in number that fotm watchers

Yea, you will probably have to get a ticket for him. 7AM is super late for ticket pickup so I think its worth it. Like some other anons pointed out, the industry guests are shit for autographs. They usually have jewish signing rules and make you buy a bunch of shit just for a chance for an autograph

Funny, with everyone talking about lines it reminds me of how last year I ended up accidentally cutting to the front of a line for a panel
>Showed up 40 minutes early for the panel
>Line was still fucking massive, so big I wasn't sure where it started since people were just mashed together, not all facing one direction
>Asked a worker and they pointed me to one side
>Go to the end and get in line
>People behind me are polite, but tell me they were here first and it's the front of the line
>Explain how I got pointed in the wrong direction, and they told me I could get behind them and chatted for a little bit
>Ended up cutting a few hundred people in line
No regrets

HAHAHAHA no it isn't. Let me tell you a story.

The dude who draws Monster Musume shows up two years ago. The first day they only had about 30 tickets and they were gone in a flash. I decided to wait till the second day, and I was literally first in line pushed up against the stairs. I practically ran to the line as soon as the doors opened and... they were already gone. How? People IN THE EXHIBIT HALL got in line BEFORE IT OPENED. One of the bitches even had the gal to say "Well maybe you should get a job in the industry if you want an autograph".

Bookwalker autographs are the worst. Not even fair.

You wanna know WHY he started doing the random flash signings? Because I refused to leave the booth. I escalated things up until I was exchanging business cards with the guy running the booth. He told Crab about the situation and he came down then and there to autograph. He honestly didn't realize how fucked over his fans were till that point.

The hilarious thing is, the shikishi they handed out for the official event were 1/4th the size of normal shikishi, and I ended up with two regular sized shikishi from him, so it worked out. Still, I was incredibly pissed at the whole thing.
