and a question from me, has anyone here heard of the brand Petal Fresh? I'm thinking of buying one of their shampoos, it was the only one I could find without sodium laureth sulfate.

I recently went to Japan and I used this brand of shampoo called Ichikami which came in an orange bottle. I have Asian hair, and I've always used drugstore shampoos like Tresseme or Shea Moisture but this brand was the only one that felt really nice and non-drying. Even better than sulfate free ones here! Is this even considered a "good" brand in Japan, or are Western ones just that shitty in comparison?

I currently have acne that I need help with. It just started a couple of months ago never had it bad like this, I am 21. I've been using "LilyAna Naturals Retinol cream" all over my face but I feel like it hasn't helped much and made my eye wrinkles worse? I also tried
"Acne Treatment Cream - Benzoyl Peroxide 7.5% - Topical Anti Acne Medication - Witch Hazel, Tea Tree Leaf, Jojoba Oil, Almond Oil, Shea Butter"
but it seemed to work at first but then it didn't and maybe even made it worse.
But anyway this is what I do currently:
>Wash my face, sometimes with low ph stuff Idk if it actually works or not vs my regular wash
>Put on the acne treatment cream
>put on Aveeno 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Relief Cream cream on acne some point later
>put on retinol cream sometime later

Western - Physician's formula velvet liquid lipstick. First liquid lipstick that doesn't feel like it's trying to exfoliate my lips at the same time. Their butter blushes are also quite nice, as well as their shimmer bricks. Honestly I would recommend a lot from them.

Asian - I swear by Heroine Make mascara and Majolica Majorca eyeliner. Dolly wink and canmake are an ok alternative, still better than most western eyeliners I've tried.

>>favorite high end product?

>>worst product you've ever used?
High end - too faced better than sex mascara. Fallout in literally 10 seconds, had racoon eyes all day, did nothing for my lashes
Drug store - some l'oreal eyeliner. Actually, most drugstore eyeliners and mascaras don't really work for me so I'm wary of them.

I think it works, but it's not permanent if you don't keep up with it. I also have some wrinkles that are worse on my R eye, and unfortunately they are still there. I use it mainly to prevent further wrinkles, and i can say that the wrinkles seem stable for now.
>What kind of skin do you have, dry oily?
Sensitive dehydrated combo skin. With summer coming, I'm becoming oilier.
>Any sunblock recommendations?
For the face I've been an Anessa bb cream. If it's winter, the spf 23 is more than enough. Dr Jart also has a CC cream that's spf 35 that I really like. I've tried the biore one, but I don't like how it makes my skin almost dry. I'm going to try Rohto skin aqua moisture milk on amazon, so I can keep you posted!
>Is your skin clear, if so why do you use foundation?
No, quite far from it. I have rosacea and I get acne breakouts for no apparent reason (thankfully like once every 2-3 months), and I'm currently recovering from one. Also, I like the way foundation looks for certain occasions. On most days I don't actually use foundation - at most a bb cream if I want coverage.

You seem to be using a lot of products with actives - acne cream, retinol, and vitamin c - which is honestly a lot to throw at your face at once. All of those can be drying on their own, put together without any heavy moisturizers and your skin is probably drier than the sahara.

Personally I would ditch the Vitamin C, as far as I know it doesnt do much for active acne. Retinol is harder because it can help with acne iirc but because your skin is so sensitive maybe put it aside until you have a solid moisture component to your routine. Both of these actives are also photosensitizing, which you really don't want. I'm also curious about the hydrocortisone cream, why are you using that? Is the acne itchy? If it is you need to figure out if it's itchy because your skin is dry or not. It could be some kind of allergy or other issue.

My advice is to:
-Get broad spectrum sunscreen and wear it religiously (if you aren't already, I just didn't see it listed). It can help with combating scarring, and you've been using photosensitizing ingredients.

-Cut down the actives. They're drying and harsh, and might be doing more harm than good.

-Find a good moisturizer. This MIGHT solve half your problems right away. Patch test before you go putting it all over your face.

-Keep using those acne bandaids. They're awesome.

-Follow the usual acne prevention advice, like changing pillow cases and such.

-If it's within your means seek advice from a real dermatologist. Anon is not a substitute for a trained professional who can see your skin and talk with you directly.

Sorry for the blogpost anon, and good luck!

>I'm getting (relatively) bad chin acne at the moment, especially around my period. I get large, painful bumps that take ages to come to a head, and when they do they weep and get crusty. It's unsightly and painful. Any advice?
B complex supplements actually helped me. Something about how the hormonal changes make it harder to absorb certain B vitamins or cause them to deplete faster, can't remember which. I do know you can also get those exact chin zits just from having deficiencies of certain B vits, period or no.

Anyway, maybe start by taking them daily during the second half of your cycle. Most brands will have more than you can absorb in one dose, so if they happen to be the bigger horse-pill size, I tend to cut them in half and just take a half per day. B vitamins are water soluble, so your body won't store the excess, you just pee it out, hence why you should take it daily (or at least most days out of the week) to see a difference. It will turn your pee bright yellow. like dandelion yellow. Also the pills stink, but I don't think it comes out in your breath or anything. I haven't found any specific brand to be more or less effective. I generally just take the store brand.

Hope this helps!

I'm super oily and use a pore-reducing/mattifying liquid primer (Revlon Photo Ready Perfecting Primer). Then concealer under eyes, on chin, and any red spots. Set concealer with powder. Finish my face with mattifying powder in my skintone. Go light on the concealer and blot frequently throughout the day. That has kept my oil slick of a face looking fresh and non-cakey.

>red Stridex pads
>Rohto Melano CC vitamin c (this is the shit and has done better for my scarred wasteland of a face than anything else so far)
>The Ordinary's Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
>COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power (this combined with the niacinamide gets rid of my redness overnight if i had picked at my face)
>Amlactin daily lotion for body (usually skip since it only helps on my chest and shoulders. have used it on my face, didn't notice a difference)
>Blue Lizard 30 spf for sensitive skin if i'm going outside in the day as I work nights (feels greasy to me, but i bought it so i'm going to suffer until its gone)

>(have been switching up skipping either TO niacinamide and snail because of this hot as balls humid weather since it makes it feel like it's just sitting there no matter how little i use)
>occasionally if i'm feeling too lazy or in a rush, i just wash my face with diluted tea tree oil and throw some snail on it if it feels too dry

PM is same as above except no honey, sometimes swap Stridex for The Ordinary's retinol or skip actives entirely and I slather my face in CeraVe Healing Ointment. I like it much better than Aquaphor and Vaseline and my face is awesome when I wake up whether or not I used actives.

Can't really comment on the retinol and before Stridex I was using The Ordinary's lactic acid. I don't think they are/were doing anything after using them for a few months. I don't like how they feel anyway.
I do a 40% Mandelic Acid Peel sometimes(not with other actives, obviously). Haven't noticed much if anything but I'm really hesitant to go for something harder.

Thoughts?
Probably overkill but it's helped, I've introduced most of them the 'right' way and I haven't had any new problems so I feel like at worst something does nothing so I might as well use up what I got. My face has improved a lot but I had a lot to work on after working outside in the sun without protection for years doing manual labor and compulsively tearing at my skin but I still have some issues.

> closed condomes, motherfuckers are nearly every where on my face but very, very, tiny like pic related on this girl. especially around the corners of my mouth, chin and around the rim of my nostrils. they have been here for as long as i can remember. i have been experimenting with Nizoral in case it's seborrheic dermatitis since around my nostrils can get a little angry(i dont put actives in that spot), my eyebrows had dandruff and there's CCs behind my earlobe. haven't noticed a difference with Nizoral except for i don't have eyebrow dandruff anymore but haven't tried any other sebderm treatments either. i will be going to a dermatologist when i can about it.

>CCs, possibly zits, specifically behind my earlobes. I rarely get zits anymore, like maybe once a month and when I do they're usually on my back but nothing in my routine is doing anything for my ears. they only started popping up there when I shaved off my long hair, oddly. no one can see them but I'm too self concious to let my gf play with my ears, which I miss because it feels really nice. same as above so a dermatologist is probably my only hope, it just gets me really down the most.

>ice pick scars/pitting. vitamin c + niacinamide has really helped even them out, as well as Stridex made a noticable difference after introducing it a few weeks ago but really it's the first thing anyone notices. i'm sure only chemical peels is going to do anything more for them but i have some friends who went to professionals to get a peel and their faces got jacked up bad. 10 years later the scars from their burns are still really noticable so i've been moving very slowly and cauiously about peels despite my skin is tough as nails.

>large pores/sebaceous filaments - as always for over a decade- have been an oilslick in the summer. vitamin c + niacinamide has also reduced the appearence of them and make them chill the fuck out but it starts looking like shit again in high humidity, just not as bad as before i started using them. i know you can't change the size of your pores but i'm so tempted to just scrub and wash my face every half hour now. looking to do something about this for the summer since this isn't a problem otherwise. i don't believe actives is the problem but i'm open to opinions.

>best advice you ever had?
Stop touching your face! Picking and leaning your face in your hands especially. Wear sunscreen, change your pillow case frequently and don't drink often.

Also stress. Not like you can just flip it off but try to take care of yourself mentally too. Go take a bath, do yoga, see a therapist, get medicated, knit a tree a sweater, pet a dog, whatever works if stress it's interfering so much.

If you have sensitive skin, before you apply the gel, apply a small bit of vaseline around your eye/undereye area and a bit below your jaw, like from each earlobe across your neck. This will protect your more sensitive neck/eye skin from the Differin, even if you don't apply it on those areas sometimes it kinda seeps or travels.

Also fillers. But Differin is like $12 vs $600+ for fillers.

I’ve been doing an AB routine for a few years now after having a nasty bought of cystic acne that was so bad I wouldn’t leave my house for months while I was on accutane. Long story short is my skin cleared up, and I’ve been using cosrx’s BHA with great results, but recently I’ve just been having more frequent breakouts. So I switched to strides pads for a stronger BHA. Its been a few weeks and I’m noticing a big influx in breakouts in what I recognize as my main problem areas when I had severe cystic acne. I have this scar in the one spot that was the worst that simply won’t go away, and today it looks like there’s a big zit coming up from it. It this normal? Like could it be possible that there was stuff so deep down that it’s jusr taken years and a stronger strength exfoliant for it to all finally come out? Or should I be worried?

Basically you try to avoid shampooing as much as possible, and focus on conditioning + good curl formation without heat - so you mostly conditioner wash and shampoo monthly if needed to get rid of buildup. The rationale is that curly hair tends to get dry af and a lot of ingredients in both shampoo and conditioner are not good for this - and strip away all the oils that help keep your moisture in (and therefore your hair health and curl). With the no shampoo thing, you also avoid a lot of "drying" alcohols, as well as non water soluble silicones that often make hair feel smooth, but need the sulfates in most shampoos to get out.

Well you don't have a retinoid in your routine as far as I can see, so you could start with non-prescription retinol if you wanted to. You don't need a dermatologist for milia because they're not really going to be able to do much for it (unlike acne where they could prescribe you roaccutane or something) beyond giving you a topical retinoid or helping you get the keratin plugs out by deroofing them with a needle.

My daily routine is heavily impacted by my job, I work outdoors in the desert so high spf sunscreen is a MUST, along with large hat/long sleeves/long pants and no/minimal makeup on work days. I don't fuck around with sun care.

Skin
Morning:
- Wash face with just water or lightly with bar Dove soap if i feel greasy already
- Aczone 5% gel (dapsone)
- sunscreen: Neutrogena sensitive skin spf 60 (or 60+ sunscreens that are zinc/titanium oxide based vs oxybenzone). Skipped on weekend/office days I'm not going out, or instead applied later ~20min before I leave home.

Afternoon/early evening:
- Wash face after work to remove dust/sunscreen/etc, once at work/field house with just water, then again lightly with just a bit of soap when I get home
- if any sunburn/redness, an aloe vera gel lotion (or aloe straight from my plant). Skipped when not needed. Wait for it to dry fully before next step.
- moisturize: depending on dryness level, cetaphil lotion (light) or Nivea Soft (heavy). Ocassionally Eucerin Advanced Repair but it makes you more sun sensitive with repeated use so only when I am not going to be spending long hours outside in the near future.

Evening/before bed:
- shower/wash face (again, dove bar soap. I know people may try to give me shit for this but my derm told me to use it and i trust her with my life, and i have way less complications with it than any other cleanser)
- Acanya 1.2-2.5% gel, alternating nights with
- Tretinoin .05%
- B-complex supplement
- Niacin supplement
- Hormonal birth control (Gianvi or related generic)

I've been seeing a dermatologist since I was 12 and I would die and/or commit murder for her. I've been on this particular routine for about 3 years now, but I've been on/tried a lot of different stuff. DESU if you have cystic acne and at-home remedies aren't doing you much: a solid dermatologist can change your life.

I also HIGHLY recommend a big palette with a full rainbow of colours, that way you can mix and match for small details or one-offs or SFX or costests, and get something specific if you need it. I use coastal scents, which isn't the best or most pigmented but definitely does the job.

As for brushes:
>Foundation brush
>Big, fluffy brush
>Medium, angled fluffy brush
>Small, fluffy brush
>Small, dense brush
>Small, narrow brush

For narrow, detail brushes I actually use some of my synthetic paint brushes.

Hate to break it to you but you probably need to go into an actual make up store, actually try the concealers, and see which one makes the scar disappear into your skin (i.e. ""matches your skin tone"). There are staff in said stores that can help you with average prices, etc. as well.

>>9901364
Maybe try going up a shade lighter with your concealer rather than a shade darker. I assume you're already stippling or dabbing/patting it on rather than using brush strokes, I find that tends to get better coverage.
Regarding fillers - mine were AMAZING - I'm 9 months down the track from Restylane and my eye bags are still not as prominent as they once were. I don't have the dark hollow circles but I have horrible saggy eye bags from chronic shift work/general life stress and I generally hide the bottom of the eye bag under the rim of my glasses, I used to look so fucking old without my glasses on. I got filler just under them at the top of my cheek bones and it basically got rid of the eye bag "line" because it filled it all up - they have come back a little because it's been 9 months but I was only promised 6, so I'm happy. I did need the filler to be re-moulded a little about 2 weeks after I got it done but that's because I side and front sleep a lot and it caused some movement.

Hey, so I'm trying to grow out my hair (guy), went from buzzcut to what is currently a super awkward stage of too short to put up in any way, but long enough to look hecka stupid. My hair is wavy and thick, and will basically stand straight out from my head at this length if I just let it airdry.
Any tips on hairstyles/stuff to do with it until I can put it up? For the past month I've just been stuffing it under a snapback to get it out of the way when I work, and slicked it back somewhat when I need to look proper, so frankly I'll take just about anything that looks intentional, even if it seems dated or whatever.

I have Caucasian hair, its nearly butt length and straight due to the weight of it but if it was shorter, it'd probably have more of a wave to it (Not sure if that's important but I'm including it anyway).

The top layer is extremely straight however the lower layers are frizzy and wavy. The hair there is by no means damaged, if anything the strands seem to be a little thicker and have less splits. I had my hair cut two weeks ago so it's in good shape.

I don't use heat tools or abuse it, and if I do use a hair dryer I'll use it on its coolest setting and only dry part way.

What gives? If I split my hair in half and have it coming over the front of my shoulders the difference in textures is very stark. I dont really want to have to straighten it unless I can really help it for when I need it to behave.

Most people have some variation in hair texture, you guys just have it in a particularly noticeable way. Make sure you condition the wavy bits more if you can, chances are they need it (+ leave in conditioner). For a non-heat fix that you can wear out, try putting a light gel or mousse in when damp and french braiding it so that it all sits in somewhat even waves from the braids, or wear it in buns, braids and other updos.

Question for anons who have experience with bleaching hair

Since I was like 13 I have been bleaching and dying my hair on and off until basically 1 and a half years ago, when I was growing my hair out from a pixie and really wanted to leave my hair alone to keep it as healthy as possible
I've mostly dyed my hair darker colors (browns and blacks) or unnatural colors like pinks and blues. I've always bleached at home with the help of my mom, and the results have always been good enough for the color I wanted, one time the color I used was too light so it didn't show up, but then I just put a darker color on.

The thing is, I'm really tempted to dye my hair again, either blonde or silver/gray. I think to get the best result I should go to a hair dresser, since I have a specific result in mind. My question is, would it be possible to get it done at a hairdresser, and then do the upkeep myself? Like the roots and stuff. My hair is a medium brown so it gets light pretty fast, and my mom would probably not mind helping out.

I've always avoided going to the hairdresser because of the cost, but I think it's the only option that's relatively safe, so I'm fine with paying a chunk to get it to be good, but I can't afford going back for bleaching every 2-3 months, I just don't have income to be able to afford that

Pic related is what I want, or something similar

So, I've have this angry zit on my chin for the last three nights. I haven't had a pimple like this for probably 6 months, and only very rarely since starting tret. A couple days ago I did a bentonite clay mask, and I think maybe it brought the gunk to the surface since this spot was congested before the mask. Or, it could just be a break out.

So I'm not sure exactly where to go from here--I dont want to pop it since I'm on tret...should I put some more clay on it to dry it out? A hydrocolloid bandaid? BP is too harsh on my skin...should I try tea tree oil? Help me anons ;_;

Chapstick is good for protecting against losing moisture but is shit for actually giving you moisture. Would recommend something like Fresh lip treatment or laneige lip mask to soften the lips at night. Then go over with chapstick in the morning to retain moisture. Glosses are also your friend. Avoid liquid lipstick at all costs, unless it's one of those liquefied melted lipstick formulas. And get an SPF for lips during summer - chapstick has spf 15 but supergoop has a great lip gloss that's spf 50. I found it for $7 at TJ maxx.

If you feel it's either too expensive or too far away (shipping wise) and can't wait, I cannot vouch for Burt's Bees because it did fuck all for my lips' hydration, but I heard good things about Milani's lip treatment/balm things.

Yes, if you want anything silver you have to be taken down to a 0 and you will only get that from a hairdresser, probably with one or two processing sessions. Make sure you use hair masks, I know you probably know this, but I cannot stress it enough. I bleach and dye my own hair constantly and I end up using a ton of product in order to keep up my lighter hair. Use a 20 developer and use a salon quality bleach (I use a packet at Sally beauty that is prismatic and smells like green apple, get the blue undertone), you can find high quality silvers online if you do your research for upkeep. And use blue or purple shampoo to keep the silver even toned

I use an all-natural mosquito repellent called Buzz Away. It uses essential oils and works really well for me. Smells nice though it's a bit greasy.

I have super bad reactions to mosquitos (softball sized hives and bruising that lasts weeks) and that stuff is a life saver.

If I do get bitten, I take an oral anti-inflammatory (naproxen works the best for me), use benadryl spray, and place hot (chamomile) tea bags on my welts. Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory and the heat helps to temporarily stop the itching.

Um, prenatals are good for all women. Even if you're not trying to get pregnant, prenatals contain important vitamins like B9 and B12 to maintain your red blood cell levels and some of them contain Vitamin D which all women need to help against osteoperosis. It's a standard general guideline to recommend them to all women of childbearing age, whether or not they actually want kids. Iron tablets get people constipated but that can easily be subverted if you take iron polysaccharide or iron complex pills instead of iron sulfate. If you take a lot of prenatal vitamins, you could possibly get ringing in your ears or nausea/vomiting, but at that point you're taking too much.

>It's a standard general guideline to recommend them to all women of childbearing age

It's standard general guideline for all women to consume 0.4 mg of folic acid daily. In addition to other vital nutrients that any adult woman needs. Pre-natals are specifically for woman who are pregnant, think they're pregnant, or are currently breastfeeding.

Pre-natals are not the same thing as multivitamins blended for women's health. Are you ESL and confused or something?

Where can I learn the basic hows and whys of cute makeup? I look a bit like pic related with very very light skin, dark hair, thick eyebrows and dark lips resulting in an innate femme fatale look, but I want to look more cute and soft. I know nothing about makeup and thus honestly find it a bit boring. When searching for cute makeup I just find girls doing their thing and I'm too aesthetically challenged to modify that to my own facial traits. Is there some sort of encyclopedia of cute makeup techniques for dummies? Like I don't know what type of lip makeup or even what colors I should look at and I don't want to waste money and time on experiments without any theoretical knowledge what so ever. The Japanese are pretty good and I have found some how to images but I don't know how applicable it is to light skin.

So generally I'd say it's less about the coloration you have and more about the shape of your eyes and lips. If you have hooded or almond shaped eye you'll look older and more mature and "sexier", so you'll want to round out you're eyes, so instead of a traditional upward cat eyeliner, you'll want to do something either straight or pointing slightly downward and curved up. For eyeshadow, I'd suggested using lighter neutral color in the crease and a shimmer or glitter on the center of the eyelid aligned with your iris and mirrored on the bottom lash line. For the lips, it's a matter of just lighten your lip color, use a soft pink or peach and lightly smudge the edges and gloss on the center I think looks pretty cute. For the brows, I would go for a straighter shape, color doesn't matter, straighter flatter brows look younger and cuter than a high arch, so use a pencil or a brow pomade to fill in your arch a bit. I also think blush makes people look cuter so do a light dusting on your cheeks, and I think subtle highlighter would help as well.
In general I think it's a lot more about the shapes and textures you use on the face instead of coloration, so dewy finishes and leaving mattes just for the eye crease and maybe contouring will help you look cuter.

So thanks for clarifying because it's hilarious you're saying PREnatals were for pregnant women only, because you sort of miss the boat if you only start taking them right at pregnancy. So good on you for correcting that in your next point.

Secondly, I concede that a prenatal vitamin has a whopping 2x the amount of folic acid as a regular women's health vitamin. The thing is though that folic acid is water soluble, meaning that you can't really overdose on folic acid except at ridiculously high (as in 10,000x the recommended amount) as you piss it all out. I'm not sure where you're getting that women throw up, or get constipated, or get diarrhea from a 100% folic acid increase, because you need a lot more folic acid, enough to overcome how much your kidneys can filter through, to actually get any side effects from folic acid overdose. I've literally never heard of a woman getting any of these side effects from folic acid, but from iron, which is why I addressed the iron component of prenatals.

My reasoning for not taking prenatals vs regular multivites was debunked? Where, exactly? Regular vitamins rarely cause GI issues, even ones with iron, because they aren't designed for a body that's growing another life inside of it. Pregnant women who get sick from prenatals are often told to take a regular multivitamin with iron in it. Prenatals are known for causing constipation, nausea, and vomiting - as in, it's extremely common for prenatals to cause such things, even in pregnant women.

Gulls, I don't know what to do. My first meet up with my new comm is coming up soon, but my skin has been flaring up lately.

For almost two months now, I've had clusters of red, swollen bumps on both sides of my neck and along the right side of my chin. It feels different than cystic acne I have had in the past, and it never comes to a head or goes down. They can't be extracted, and the products I've used have just made the tops of them dry up into scabs.

The rest of my skin is fairly clear. Although I have some recurring blackheads on my nose, I haven't even had a noticeable spot on my face in weeks.

Or if you want a more permanent extensions, mirco link or fusion, using human hair will fade at the same rate so when you redye you just redye the whole head, but both of those options are super damaging, especially to bleached hair.

I just want to vent about my stylist.
I've been seeing her for about three years now for bleaching platinum blonde. She does a great job with bleaching but.. she mostly just leaves it yellowy blonde and doesn't tone it how I want at all.
What I'm looking for is more like pic related. Basically what I end up doing is getting toner from Sally's and doing it myself. So I know it's possible to get this color but after asking and asking she just doesn't get it. She says I need to keep coming in and getting bleached more often and then it'll be whiter.
After asking for a long time for whiter hair I started doing it myself with toner. The first time I went back, she noticed I'd put something on it and I was like "yeah, haha I wanted to try something new! I really like the color and how white and silvery it is! Can you get it close to this again?" and she didn't really do it.
The next time I brought in the toners, I didn't want to insult her but I showed her them and said this is what I liked using for white hairand she could use them if she wanted. She just said no we'll use ours and it came out okay, but still not really what I wanted.
This last time, after several more times saying I wanted as white as possible and her telling me to just come in more often it came out super yellow. So I toned it myself, again, this afternoon, missing out on something else I wanted to do, so I'm pretty unhappy.
I think I've found a new lady I want to go to, I just wanted to vent.

Bleached hair gets brassy over time as the toner washes out - But you don't just keep bleaching the lengths over and over and over to get it lighter. That's ridiculous. That's the entire reason toner exists.

You should ideally get the lengths to the correct shade/lightness, then tone it repeatedly and never need to bleach the lengths again, only regrowth.

I have the same skin tone as you--unhealthy-looking pale skin where every imperfection is extremely noticeable. Retinol can help thicken your skin, while niacinamide can help even it out as far as hyperpigmentation goes. Vitamin C can also help with hyperpigmentation, but IIRC it can't be used together with niacinamide because there's a potential for irritation and flushing, though I think it does depend on the type of Vit C you use. If you're really brave/desperate, you can try microneedling/dermarolling either at-home or with a beautician, and it'll help all of the above.

Good luck! I'm still working on getting fully acne-free before I worry about scarring so I can't speak to the efficiency/relative merits, but all of the above are well-documented ways to combat the issues you're talking about.

Reporting back gulls, did my first experiment this morning. My allergies woke me up at 2:30 AM and I had hours to kill before work so I watched a ton of vids on YT and opted to go suuuper like on the spray my first time.

I did my routine as normal, then misted and walked-through the primer a few times to get all areas of my face. It didn't make my eyeliner or mascara run at all.

Figured I'd try it out without changing my routine at all, since if my makeup got messed up I still had plenty of time to re-do it before work. Thanks allergies!

Seconding The Revlon ColorStay. I know everyone likes the Maybelline Fit Me but it never worked well with my skin. It always clung to any not-perfectly-smooth patches on my face and in my opinion didn't have as good of coverage as the Revlon. It also didn't stay on my oily face very well.

This is one retinol/retinoid question I can't find a straight answer to:

Is it worth using if I'm already young and don't have wrinkles?

It seems to be a treatment, not a preventative? I already use lactic acid and Vitamin C.

>>9915141
I've been using some serum with retinol plus a moisturizing cream with hyaloronic acid, and I've noticed pretty significant results

I thought it was complete bullshit before.

Keep in mind they aren't miracle creams, so you have to keep using them to keep your fine lines from coming back.

>> No.9915173

>>9915169
Yeah.. I trust that they do work, I'm just not sure if it's necessary for me right now, or what the long-term effects might be. (ie. will speeding up cell turnover now, when it's already fast, fuck me up when I'm 60 and my telomeres are basically gone?)

I currently use 10% water-dilute lactic acid and a hyaluronic acid serum and emulsion, and my skin is really plump with no fine lines, etc at 24. I guess it's an 'if it isn't broken, don't fix it.' situation.

any tips for dyeing your own hair? I've tried abou three times now, but everytime I somehow manage to fuck up the back part, and it ends up being closer to my own hair than the front parts, which have been dyed properly, I suppose.
what am I doing wrong?

>> No.9915586

>>9915535
Are you doing the front first? It seems like you need to do it faster, or leave it in longer. Maybe ask someone to give you a hand?

>> No.9915613

>>9915586
I always leave it in for as long as the instructions say (usually 30 minutes), sometimes even a bit longer just to be sure.
the last time I asked someone to help me (my bf), he didn't do it properly either and the back part was still less colored than the front, which I did myself.
what exactly do you mean by "doing it faster"?

>> No.9915629

30 minutes hasn't ever cut it for me. I leave the dye in overnight (use a showercap or saranwrap) and have had good, even results.

Female, currently trying to grow out a pixie cut in my natural hair after a long time of dying/bleaching/hating it. I‘m used to wearing wigs for Lolita, but want to buy a human hair wig for work etc. that doesn’t look plastic/fake, anything to watch out for when buying one?

What dye are you using? Unless you're using a semipermanent like Special Effects I wouldn't do the leave in overnight thing >>9915629 as you could end up with a chemical haircut if it's a box dye...

Nayrt, but if you apply your dye too slowly in the front part, then apply the back part last, the part in the back is not exposed to the dye for as much time as the front part. I bleach my hair so I usually have to divide it into 3 parts and dye section 1/3, let it sit, then rinse out that section. Then I repeat with 2/3 and 3/3. I'm not fast enough to dye it all in one go. it turns out splotchy and uneven.

What type of hair do you have? What type of dye are you using?

I'm using a permanent dye, L'oreal Preference in 3.16 deep purple, using it on light-medium brown hair.

>> No.9916103

>>9916092
Definitely don't leave that in overnight then! I would section into 8 parts - do a middle part, then split them front/back and top/bottom. Then start application from the back first moving systematically towards the front. Use an applicator brush, not just the shitty nozzle thing that comes with the bottle. Also realise that the end colour on the bottle is like the "perfect result" over light blonde hair and if you really want purple hair, you're better to bleach then apply a semipermanent like Special Effects or Directions. You could also try putting it over your box dye colour.

>>9916103
I was already using a brush instead of the nozzle, I really don't understand how the manufacturer expects me to use that thing. when I let my bf do it, he may have not used enough dye, because the parts he thought he put too much dye on, ended up fine.
I had already realised that the "result color" on the package was complete bonkers, they didn't differ much between light and dark base colors. It came out a bit darker than I expected, but I actually kind of like it. I might try using a different kind of dye in the future, like the ones you named.
thank you for your reply!

This is going to sounds crazy, but I'm allergic to the tap water where I live.

The water is really hard, I have eczema and for the first time in my life I'm getting it all over my face, mainly cheeks and nose. I've been washing my face with filtered water and doing my skin routine and moisturising twice a day and it's slowly going away if I'm consistent BUT my face is now so dry when I wear foundation to tone down the redness it flakes up on my dry areas.

Is there a particular primer that would stop my skin from making the foundation flaky? Is there a better body butter or moisturiser that will stop my skin being so dry? I've been using liquid foundations but is there a better product for dry skin?
Any help appreciated!

Possibly a hydrating primer? I use Elf's hydrating primer and it's ok if you're on a budget. I haven't had the chance of trying out other ones.

My husband also had eczema on his face (eyelids and in and around ears) and I have eczema on my hands sometimes. Mine is not nearly as bad as it was when I was younger (had it all over my hands and arms), but whenever our eczema flares up, we have prescription hydrocortisone cream and that clears it up in a few days.

I highly recommend seeing a dermatologist for cream if you haven't, it really helps if you put it on 3 times a day. There are some lotions that are specifically for eczema/dry skin that you could find in your local drug store as well- try to use lotions that don't have any perfumes/scents in them, I found that ones with strong scents to be highly irritating on skin with eczema

Had to come back to this, are you using semi permanent or dye that‘s made up of developer + tint?
Because if so your developer might not be strong enough. If it‘s box dye try to find the same shade in a tint and find a developer that‘s strong enough. Don‘t leave it in overnight, if it got peroxide in it, you can fry it all off at the roots.

try an overnight oil anon, sounds like your skin needs some deep moisturizing so i think itd help. if its really bad apply it day / night, i use shea moisture's overnight oil and its pretty decent and stopped my flaking without making me break out.

also a moisturizing primer or switching from foundation to a tinted moisturizer or bb cream could help.

Whats your face shape? Certain hair cuts, especially bangs, look best with certain face shapes.

Get a color depositing dye in the color you want that matches your undertone (warm, neutral or ash), and only use 10 vol with it. Ion's intensive shine demi line is great. I would suggest applying it like a balayage so it doesn't look flat.

You need to get your eczema under control before you fuss about foundation. When mine starts up bad, it's moisturiser 4+ times a day and occlusive moisturizers over 1% hydrocortisone cream at night. Having foundation on top of a broken skin barrier will make the eczena keep flaring because the skin is open and therefore more sensitive to stuff if doesn't usually react to.
