All I've seen so far is the venue, which is stunning, but that's to be expected for Paris I guess.

What was the deal with teh JetJ mumu tshirt dresses? They look comfy as hell but it's surely a weird thing to give away?

A bit salty. Many people didn't even wear JetJ. I know many people who wanted to go but couldn't get a ticket. There should have been a dress code.

I just got done watching Lor make-over her gf and she really can only do this one look it seems like. Every person she’s dress in lolita ends up looking like a Lor clone and it’s kind of freaky. I think it’s mainly the makeup and wig styling.

It was fun, and the organisers did a great job. I would have liked it to be longer but I think that wasn't their problem, it was the venue's problem. Also the fashion show seemed very short?
Any issues I had were with other lolitas who were part of my own party, rather than anything done by the organisers or the guests.

I've bought a few items from them, but not skirts/dresses. In short, they've got a really nice aesthetic, but the clothes are not quite, but pretty close to taobao/aliexpress quality with odd fabric choices, thinner fabric, and a lot of construction that needs fiddling with to look good. It's overpriced for that quality IMO. I would wait for their sales, but unfortunately they rely on a sort of 'buy it before it's gone' mentality with their boutique status, and thus a lot of their stuff sells out quickly. If you really like the design, you should buy it, but otherwise if you can find a similar design elsewhere you should pass.

So my sister has found some interest in lolita as well and I would love for her to come to a tea party with me later this year. She doesn't see herself becoming a lolita but would love to have at least one full coord to go to events with me in. I told her she doesn't have to worry about buying a blouse, bloomers, or petticoat bc I'll provide those. But I'm having a hard time finding a good starter Classic lolita jsk for her. She's willing to spend some $$$ for brand but she's a total normie and doesn't quite have a good idea on what she wants.

Anyways, I'm a dumb sweet lolita so I have no idea what to recommend her. She loves very simple or subtle prints. Anything with soft looking florals but not too busy. Bonus if there's a black cat in the print. I can see her wearing browns and ivorys... possibly black if it's not too gothic.

Can you gulls let me know what ur favorite prints are similar to this description?

TLDR; Normie sister wants to wear Classic lolita once to go to a tea party with me and is willing to spend for it--but she has normie tastes. I'm an idiot sweet lolita and can't decide on what looks good.

If your first instinct for classic is prints, then you're already doing it wrong. Look for solids with nice details like pintucks and ruffles instead, and maybe an OP so you're dealing with fewer pieces. Also it would be a lot easier if you showed her some dresses and have her pick out a few she likes so you have a clearer idea of what she wants.

That's cute, but wouldn't it be easier to point her towards Wunderwelt's Classical section and let her loose? Have her shortlist maybe 5-10 dresses, then go through the list together so you can check she isn't picking anything too dodgy. Other secondhand sites (Closetchild, Lacemarket) are also good bets, you can look for Innocent World brand since they make pretty good dresses that pass for normie but also dress up really well for tea parties.

That's gotta be a better way than having anons post a dress that probably sold out a long time ago and then now you have to wait and scour secondhand sites for that one specific dress to pop up so that you can buy it, before you sis can come to tea parties with you.

>> No.9887592

It's likely a bit too long for the one with the 60cm skirt, you need about 5cm difference between the skirt and petticoat lengths to make sure it doesn't peek.
If the dress in question is gathered at the waist, you might be able to get away with rolling the waistband of your petti to make it shorter without fucking up the silhouette; or if it has adjustable lengths like Malco Modes' pettis, just make it shorter and you'll be fine.

I'd say it's better to start buying basics now, there's an endless supply of decent secondhand and taobao stuff available on the market and you can get a better feel for what kind of things you'll like or dislike with eventual buying experience. You can always splurge on a nice new main piece or two when you go to AP Paris, but it'd be better to not limit yourself to in-store choices.

Tbh I think it's more fun to buy a whole coord. But why not a bit of both? Buy the coord but instead of buying the socks and everything that matches it perfectly, buy basic socks, a blouse in a color you like, and so on that you can use for future coords.
You may not even find a main piece you like. Or the basic pieces will be overpriced. Buy stuff you like and fill in what's missing later.

>> No.9888168

>>9888118
Honestly I'd definitely buy from AP if it's something that will match a lot of main pieces (neutral colors like white/black or if you want an entirely pink wardrobe, pink). I can never find the blouses I like from AP secondhand so it's worth it to splurge on one's that will work well. That said, do your research beforehand and know what dresses you want to buy and what types of blouses will go with them. Do you prefer cotton or polyester? Do you want a cutsew or a blouse? Peter pan collar or high neck? Long sleeve or short sleeve? Take a look whether certain areas are sheer and how you'll have to wear them (for example, some require an undershirt).

Socks are also worth it if they'll match a lot of things and are generic. Keep in mind what colors you want in your wardrobe. Find socks with largely one color and some small detail, like bows or Angelic Pretty written on them. Avoid specific print socks as they generally don't match well with other prints.

I avoid these items secondhand at least from the west as they are always more damaged then I'm led to believe.

>> No.9888176

>>9888118
Absolutely get those essentials out of the way ASAP. I struggled for a bit not having the right shoes and basic socks so all my coords were a little off. I know some girls like 6 years into the fashion that just own some trashy blouse from a thrift store. It's not a good look and makes you look amateur.

>> No.9888340

>>9888118

Since you already have a wishlist, I'd suggest taking a few hours to put together a hypothetical wardrobe, or some sort of collage, so that you have a better idea of what kind of blouses/accessories match your wishlist dresses. There's no point to get a bunch of basics if they won't match your eventual wardrobe. If you're a bit lost, a good bet is high neck blouses (no collar) in white (if you're into pastels/sweet), ivory (for classic) and black (if you have a lot of darker colored dresses in your wishlist).

Also take some time to look at secondhand sites and what's available on taobao (scroll through a reseller site) -- that will give you an idea of what you can buy for less money, and you can take note of things that seem to be for sale often.

If you're into sweet, definitely pick up shoes. They're bulky and expensive to ship regardless of brand/no brand, and this way you can figure out your sizing on the spot.

Wristcuffs and smaller accessories are good as well if you can find things that match your wishlist -- generally SS fees and shipping have a minimum, so some $10 secondhand accessories off yja can easily become $40 by the time it reaches you.

I wouldn't discount buying a main piece if you find one that you like and you can fit it in your budget. It makes for a nice memento for the trip and you can wear it immediately, which is fun.

It's strange how just 2cm can make so much difference, but then the S, M, L sizing is generally only 1cm apart from each other. I can only imagine it's much worse for someone with 38cm shoulders.

My current strategy is to just email them asking with the product number that I want (which roughly looks like what’s translated in their international orders section), but part of me feels really dumb doing that when they have an online site with a shopping cart.

I just can’t seem to get the buttons to work.

They're not wrong, people out there still shriek about their "kawaii uguu rorita fashion cosplay" like absolute retards. Not to mention the girls within the community who mock the very idea of wearing lolita like actual clothes rather than a costume for social media.

You hear this coming from younger girls at meets sometimes, as some anons will tell you. I vaguely remember seeing some comments of this nature on one of the FB groups (Rufflechat maybe?) but I don't have any caps to post.
Anyway, I'm one of few daily lolitas in my comm and instead of telling the girls what they can or can't do with their frills, we just lead by example so they know it's possible to wear lolita daily if they choose to do so.

I hate it when people claim a dress is rare even though it's clearly. One person on LM is calling the lucky pack version of Grazia a "rare cut" even though it actually should be a cheaper version. Or some dresses aren't rare but just unpopular.

Is there any way to post without the likes feauture/popularity shit going on? I just want to share coords, so people who have or want the same items know how they look like irl or get ideas.

>> No.9891109

There are plenty of cosplay lolitas in Japan, but they probably don’t attend brand tea parties so the designers have never met them.

In my country we have two kinds of cosplay lolitas; the “classic ita” kind who think lolita is from anime, still dress like it’s 2006, couldn’t name more than one major brand (“Hot Topic??”) and have no interest in/ aren’t even aware of the local community. Then there are the girls who are part of the comm, can name most major brands and often even put decent coords together, will probably tell normies that lolita is a fashion and not a costume, but exclusively wear lolita to meetups and conventions and scoff at the idea of wearing lolita casually without a wig on because that’s “ita”. When I mentioned that I had been a lonelita for a few years they asked me what I did with my clothes, just wear them around the house? Then one girl asked me if I was “one of those lifestylers” and another what I’d do if something got dirty. Wash it? Turns out most of them are afraid to wash their main pieces and try to avoid it as much as possible, just like how most cosplayers I know treat their costumes.

TL;DR cosplay lolitas come in two forms, the
>Kyaa this is my loli cosplay~
kind and the
>Lolita is a street fashion not a costume!! But wearing brand like normal clothes is cringe and ita
kind. The first are easy to spot and unlikely to ever meet Maki or Asuka, and the second are hard to distinguish from other lolitas.

Who translated this? For the last answer, Asuka says "I think that, at first, lolita fashion was merely a curiosity to foreigners, but after years and years of doing this we'e seen many events take place and communities dedicated to spreading lolita have formed." Not sure how you get "not sure if there was a purpose" out of that, troll subs?
