I know it's irrational but I will forever hate when brands use tall, thin, mainstream looking white models for Lolita or Lolita-esque styles. It looks so out of place and always makes me think the brand is pretentiously trying to be high fashion. Jet j is the worst. And don't get me started that one time ap used those lanky white models in their runway show. Even the way they posed was totally wrong for the style, it just looked so bad.

I love it even though I wish they wouldn't alter them so much to fit modern lolita. Sometimes they look a bit off to me for that reason but I still like the idea of especially Baby keeping their old design classics alive. I just wish more old stuff got rereleased, like prints, shoes and accessories, but I guess it's a risk for them. Things like socks are a lot harder to come by but the old designs are so lovely! AP had so many cute things aswell. I hope the trend goes beyond traditional lolita and we well be able to see few real rereleases in the future. I'm hopeful though, few old school-ish trends seem to be catching.

When I first saw the listing I assumed it was this dress from 2000 (i usually see it associated with the second pic you posted) but staring at those terrrrible listing photos it does look like the 2004 dress. The clothing tag is the same as one of my 2003 skirts but I'm not well versed in Meta's tag design timeline to really deduct anything from that.. Either way, they're both gorgeous dresses.

Anyone have recs for platform shoes that don't fall apart after 2 wears? I've tried Meta and Demonia, but both had the aforementioned happen to them. Are Moitie shoes any better? Yosuke maybe?

If it's the platforms coming off my best advice is just shoe glue+?nailing them down on the shoe. I haven't had yosuke or moitie platforms so I can't say anything about them but I've had demonias and a few vintage ones (that lasted undamaged way longer than demonias despite their age)

I've had my platforms come up like this too. I used a thin layer of Gorilla Glue and wrapped rubber bands around the shoe for a couple days until the sole set.
This type of glue expands a little bit so be careful applying it near the edges of the shoe.

I figured this would be the best place to ask this. Does anyone remember what happened to these mooks and how many were released?

Yes! Mine was the gorilla glue epoxy actually!!! It doesn't foam up like the other stuff and actually flexes with your shoe. I've tried the regular GG and it doesn't hold up as well on shoes as I wish it did. Try the clear epoxy! It's waterproof and flexible. I use it on my crafting projects too

Which demonias did you guys own? I've had pic related for years and they're the sturdiest feeling platform shoes I've ever worn. I think it's because they're not just glued down, they're stitched into the hard patent leather. I bought a pair of yosuke platform boots new and after two wears I can already feel the bottoms coming loose.

Wow, looking at the vintage 90s Lolita styles make me all the more certain that the root concepts of modern lolita "heavily borrowed" from Daisy Kingdom (a Western fabric/pattern company). I'm making a dress from some of their fabric now, and when I did a little digging, I found border print fabrics and JSK/pinafore patterns for little girls dating back to the 80s and 90s. Very similar to what we see in the fashion today. I have a hard time believing it's a coincidence.

Original anon here, and pic related are the ones I own. Nothing's wrong with the platforms themselves on this pair, but the straps have let loose multiple times, first on the non-elasticated part, after which I sewed those on more sturdily, after which it let loose one more time and I got it fixed by a cobbler, after which the elastic gave out which I then got replaced, after which now the replaced elastic has given out again. I'm done trying to fix these shoes and have pretty much given up on them.

Demonias are defs notorious for having hard, square toeboxes. In your case it's hard to tell but I think it's safe to say they could have been put through a lot even before you got your hands (feet?) on them.

They did. Poofier petticoats similar to the ones worn today were commonly seen in brand ads afaik, otherwise petticoats were lighter and not very voluminous. Having said that, some old school dresses and skirts are intentionally made to be narrow and don't fit a petticoat at all.
