This looks pretty good! You really went hard on the symmetry and I like it. i suspect at least one of your straps may be bootleg just from the color difference, assuming it's not a lighting issue, but accidentally putting a bootleg in your bag because you don't know better is easily fixable.

Don't forget to take the strap/keychain parts off for a cleaner look, and maybe give some extra thought to how you're going to be securing your lone Waver--the effect would be lost if you let him get obscured at all.

(Also, saw your pic on twitter. I think the fur you chose is a great idea)

Any tips/ideas for attaching something on the outside of a Swimmer bag, specifically the scalloping? I have some really small badges I want to use on the outside but I don't think it's possible to pin them through the bag itself due to how thick the material is and how small the pins are on the back of the buttons. Also the fact I would like to avoid putting holes in the bag.

I've considered pinning them to some fabric and then hot gluing the fabric to the bag, but I'm worried about damaging the bag from the hot glue as well.

From someone who pinned badges on the scallops, it’ll take some effort and a couple tries to align right but nothing terribly difficult. The holes will be a lot less noticeable than whatever damage hot glue causes.

So guys I just wanna share that after my flight yesterday please don't take your bags through hand luggage. Apparently 75mm badges exceed the limit for the "sharp pointy things" rule. They had to get my hold luggage back, unlock it and let me put it in there before i was allowed to proceed.

Yea, I'm pretty picky with style too. I generally like buying clear acrylic keychains since rubber straps aren't really commonly made, but sometimes when a seller is charging $15 I wonder if it's really worth since I could get an official rubber strap for around the same price or less.

Acrylic charms are nice, I also like the occasional enamel pin; but it's a bit sad to see people selling these when their art styles/techniques aren't up to par. It's fine for fan art obviously, but charging people money for doodles they paid some Chinese wholesaler to turn into acrylic charms seems like a waste of time and effort. Stings even more if your husbando doesn't have a lot of official merch, when the available fan merch is meh at best.

>> No.9886886

I'm willing to shell out $15 for a fancharm if the design and size is good enough. Official merch often has a repetitive stock image, while fanmerch is all over the place. Some stuff are really lazy doodles, but others have great art and are well designed. You can usually tell when the artist loves the character themselves or if they made it for a quick buck while riding the FotM trend.

If you don't live in Japan, what's the best way to get lots of repeats of items? (Pic relevant)

When I was in Japan it was much easier, you could sort through all the used goods they had at places like bookoff. But it's much harder online.

So far the most luck I've had is with surugaya, but even there you're often limited to 1 or 2 per item, depending.

Additionally, getting the same item from various yja auctions is possible, but proxy fees really start to add up especially since many proxies charge a flat fee per auction (say, 500 yen), which is suffering when the auction itself is, say, 400 yen.

Anyone have any tips regarding this?

Why would that be in the FAQ? Did you actually read it? Sorry but the facebook "wah its my bag I can do what I want" doesn't fly here, if you have official merch your primary focus should be filling your bag with that like every god damn japanese person who invented this itashit does. Dont like the official stuff? Then you're not dedicated enough to make a bag.

Now pay for your official merch instead of some shitty artist alley acrylic and shut the fuck up.

Yes, that was me! I've been debating on getting it as a second bag for my stuff that doesn't fit in my main bag, or just upgrading to one big bag. Is the little...pocket/flap thing behind the window removable? Also, is there something like velcro or snaps holding the window shut? Thank you anon!

No problem! The flap is not removeable by design, there's some visible threading there but I'm not too sure if seam ripping is a viable option. It's also visibly smaller than the window in terms of both width and height by one inch. The window is held shut by a long strip of velcro on the flap, so even if you found a way to remove the flap it'll leave you with no way of closing it unless you attach your own velcro.

I tried to get a picture but the lighting is not cooperating with me, in pic related the dark purple strip on the second image is the velcro on the flap.

30k for two grail charms from the same box. i have them on display outside of a bag as they're just too expensive for me to feel okay carting them around, though.

>ended up regretting
i dropped 12k-ish to get two boxes of a limited set from a popup shop, except the proxy that i used grabbed a number of blind packs equal to a box for one of them instead. predictably, my character was missing from those packs. ended up having to drop another 5k on an auction a week later and still feel bitterness whenever i look at the leftovers from the set i haven't sold yet.

thats the only time i've ever really regretted a purchase though, and now i just make sure it's explicitly clear i only want sealed boxes when i make orders now. with a different proxy.

I'm still pretty satisfied with the 3.6k on a resale of an acrylic stand I previously ordered but got lost by the post office. A week later, an auction for two acrylic stands of the same series, including my character, got put up and ended at 2.4k or something. I'm not mad about it, since I would rather secure an item despite extra expenses than bid, which is nerve-wracking for me.

I spent a long time regretting a 10k purchase of an acrylic stand from the same series as I've discussed above, but of a more popular character I shipped that 3.6k character with. Now I've got them together, I'm pretty satisfied. There's still a tiny bit of me that regrets it, since he sells for 6k or so now, but hey, that's life.

The process I remember seeing someone post was:
>stitch rip the original vinyl out
>use the old vinyl as a template for the new vinyl
>mark the stitch holes and then preemptively poke them to make sewing in the new vinyl easier
>stitch in the new vinyl

Obviously if your vinyl is thin enough then you don't have to pre-punch the holes.
Good luck, anon.

I dont have experience with the S. It is easy to keep it clean! Not the tote but I use the heart one from wego all the time and it still looks fantastic. Its the same material so I imagine its similar. Even the bottom of my bag doesnt look nasty.

I'm really happy with the quality of the WEGO bags in general. I havent experienced any pealing pleather or permanent dents that you can get with pleather bags (a la AP bags). For their price point and quality, I think they are great. I'm not sure if the S size has it but a feature the L tote has that I love is an inner mesh pocket to keep a water bottle or drink secure in.

I just hit the $1000 mark for one bag.

Thanks character tax!

Maybe like $600 for four bags. None of the characters I like are too popular so I can pick up merch for pretty cheap and I already collected badges and straps for years so I didn’t need to buy much at inflated secondhand prices.

I can't say I'm surprised. People who like these sort of characters typically have terrible taste, so it's little wonder that their layout would also be equally bad.

~$400 on my best girl, and I still don't have enough merch to make a reasonable itabag.

Small vent but, I hate it when something is super popular and as soon as it isnt anymore, bandwaggoners start telling you that the anime/husbando/waifu is shit now. Some even have the audacity to tell you that oh it's kinda uncool to like old shows/animes, it is wild.

Wait until their fotm show fades from popularity and hit them with the same thing

>liking something because its cool rather than because you genuinely enjoy their personality, actions, character development or impact.

I hate this line of thinking so much. Why are you making a bag? Cause your friend has one and you wanna go to this meet up or because you genuinely adore a character and relate or whatever. Like this bandwagon mentality that casuals have makes me so irritated. It's a painful bag to make because it takes so much money love and effort to make a good one. But this cheapass mentality of bootlegs are fine and cutting corners to make a portable shrine really just defeats the whole meaning. Its honestly disrespectful to the people who do drop hundreds for this hobby.

Won't matter if their FOTM show fades from popularity because they won't love it anymore anyways.

bout six hundo on my main bag, somewhere around two fifty for my newer bag. new bag has significantly more merch tho, thanks to being a much more merchandised series with lower character tax.

not counting in my shrines/non-bag merch, because i don't wanna think about it, even if i haven't (yet) gone as ham as some of the others in this thread, lol.

I know Gengrel's is probably nowhere near as expensive as the more popular characters, but that's still pretty impressive if they hunted them down recently. Shame the bag is sloppy.

Husbando is also Gilgamesh and I feel your pain. Glad to see more Gil fans with strong devotions! I haven't kept track of how much I spent for my first Gilgamesh bag. But I imagine mine is about that price too thanks to character tax.

I need to really update mine but I can't keep up with the flow of Sanrio and Heaven's Feel stuff. (attached, semi-related bc I have no pics of my bags yet)

Too bad of the obvious safety pins, because I love it! Sakura is my favourite character from Danganrompa, so I'm head over heels, haha
Love the variety of merch and fanmade things!
