I’ll finally say what we’re all thinking: these threads are unnecessary and rude. None of us really like them but they continue because they’re one of the few staples of this board left, along with the feels threads.

These threads helped me get the concrit that nobody would give me when I was starting out. No asspats, just unsweetened criticism where it's needed. There are occasional vendettas, sure, but most of the stuff posted here is warranted.

Also there are a ton of other board staples. Draw threads, Lolita generals, dream dress threads, BSTs, CoF threads, insta threads, coord help etc.

I’d say it’s more of a slump than dying. It’s an expensive fashion and the global economy was/has been in a bad way for years, with an entire generation making far less than previous generations. If you have thicker skin then tissue paper you learn how to improve. Knowing that theres people here just venting and people just being trolls you really can weed out the trash posts and get some helpful feedback. Things have changed, after years of sweet lolita becoming incredibly popular and OTT being the recognized image of what lolita fashion is, so many of today's itas look different too; there are occasional "classic itas" like the above but they're less common.

Needs makeup. She looks like a he assuming it’s a she normally. The blouse also shouldn’t be stretched that much. If your arms are big, don’t get elastic in your sleeves that are not at the end. it's more a case of "small frame" than "thin." if you have small shoulders and a slim ribcage, you'll look good in these sorts of dresses because that's where they fall from. even if you're technically "fat" but you just have a big stomach or big hips or both, it won't matter because the dress sets its drape shape from your shoulders and ribcage.

breast side definitely plays a factor, but if you've got a small ribcage (the section above the breasts, like armpit to armpit), you could potentially disguise a larger cup size if it adheres to the flare and flow of the dress.

i made a little diagram--the models' waist and hip sizes and shapes are irrelevant. the first model has slim shoulders and a slim ribcage, so the dress drapes correctly on her. she could potentially be quite fat beneath the dress, but it would not matter.

the second model, while slim, is very broad across the shoulders and through the top of the ribcage, so instead of draping correctly, the dress "hangs" essentially off of those wide features, looking boxy and awkward.

of course, an extremely large breast size would disrupt the drape of the dress regardless of how big your frame is.
