See mainstream coverage of lolita? Post it here!

This video is actually both cute and decent, probably because they got an actual lolita to help with the styling, lol. Also, I really like the makeup/hair guys nails, so sparkly!

With the overabundance of "lolita documentaries", and the occasional terrible ones, they don't make cringe docs like they used to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2aHPwF4Rxs
The "director" of this one tries her damn best to force the "Nabokov's lolita" perspective, commenting on bloomers and drawers being "sexy" (while filming the girls getting dressed; I always thought that was sketchy) to asking random men who see the girls in public if they're attracted to them. The girls in it handled it surprisingly well, at least.

This show was meant to make fun of people. No sane person would voluntarily participate in it. But our comm leader at that time kicked on being on TV, so she gave herself up for every TV show there was! She actually participated in this TV show 2 times! (Because obviously she didn’t learn from the first time.) She would also always ask us to participate in it as well, but we did learn. (Second time is most likely on her YouTube account as well, just as her other TV appearences.)

But yeah, this TV show was kind of there to make fun of autistic and socially akward people and outsiders as well. You can’t expect anything else from them than this. All their videos always have the most cringy comments from the commentators.

Unhinged people make for more interesting tv I guess. Even if the person is actually sane, all it takes is a single brainfart or manipulative question and boom, the program makers have a soundbite to take out of context and exploit to manufacture drama or make you look crazy. You really have to be on your toes when participating in programs like this. Most normal lolitas don’t think it’s worth it which is why you mostly get clueless itas doing it instead.

Sweet gained a lot of popularity in the last two decades, you can find more emphasis on gothic lolita in older videos. This one is an excerpt from an interview with Mana https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntaBQy1Crp8 that also features talk about gothic lolita and shots of lolitas (sweet ones too) at Moi Dix Mois' concerts. Whatever strange impression normies get of lolita fashion, I'd honestly rather it be like this.

You can say that about nearly any fashion trend (e.g. short hair, mini skirts, boob-tubes). It's conception doesn't necessarily make itself readily available to a political cause.

>like goths that also come in pink, creepy and weird, possibly Satanists

and boy howdy did I prefer the former. This shift happened years before the current ageplay/ddlg trend by the way, and I partly blame the lolitas in my comm who kept participating in these kinds of “documentaries” because they’d say stuff like how lolita is about escapism and feeling like an innocent child again. And of course they all had mental illnesses and half the episode would focus on that as the reason why they wear lolita.
