I've tried to brain storm with western girls for games like this and have a lot of trouble getting them to actually provide feedback. I've even had one or two say that there is no equivalent for them. That there is nothing that can be done in a game that they would see as a "sexual fantasy"

Also, I don't think "male sexual fantasy" is a valid critique of a game. There is nothing wrong with women or men having sexual fantasies. The real problem is women's lack of access to their fantasies, and dishonesty in the market with what games are for everyone and which ones contain mainly things for men.

That’s actually more or less the main complaint — everything in the gaming industry is so male oriented, everything — the script, the story, characters, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. tends to be written for male gamers. There’s very little that is ever written to specifically appeal to females, while with males, it’s in the background noise of every stage. If you’re producing games, it’s almost a given that basically everything you do is already geared towards male fantasy.

It’s not that there’s nothing that can be changed. It’s that the change won’t be a small cosmetic one like covering up with body-hugging armour that’s still sexy. Usually what’s needed is a re-write, additional characters (with accompanying cutscenes, lines, etc), re-designs of existing characters, major changes in storyline/background, etc. It’s going to be changes like main lead is gay, or a clumsy crybaby, which is going to alienate the guy gamers, who are your main market rather than the girls anyway.

Not being willing to make those extensive changes isn’t the same as “nothing can be done”. What you mean to say is “nothing profitable can be done to fix it at that stage of game production”.

As for games being “male sexual fantasy”, I like it better when the box accurately describes the contents. Just tell me up front that’s what it is, if I don’t buy it then I won’t be disappointed and you won’t have a disgruntled customer.

Yes, if anything, Square Enix is actually very good about equal gender pandering. The boys have Cindy, Aranea, Iris and Luna for eye candy, two of those have their boobs emphasised, Iris is a younger innocent schoolgirl, and you even get to beat up Aranea (for a short while), if that’s your thing. FF14 is their MMORPG, complete with slutty armour/clothing — and both genders are equally slutty, there’s enough eye candy and different body types for both males and females to look at, or to be equally looked at, if you prefer that.

They want personality, backstory and characters, if you force them to make the entire game sexual when it’s not their thing, of course they will just tell you “no, none of this shit works”.
