I did a bit of work on Nethergundam today. Note; these are the BACKSIDE of the blades. They need a bit of editing, but essentially served as a test. The front will be done a little different. I might soften up some of the weathering, but I just feel like Nethergundam is such a loser, he won't be perfectly clean...

It's mostly a side-effect of them not properly scaling and/or cropping their shit. The picture on the left is compressed vertically which greatly enhances the somewhat derpy expression she makes. Oddly enough she has a better picture of her in that outfit online so why they used this one is beyond me. Meanwhile the picture on the right is stretched out horizontally which makes her look a bit off as well. These are the winners of the cosplay competition by the way:

Because it's a dick move to pull and shows a severe lack of dignity and common courtesy from the person in question. By winning first place in a competition you gain the recognition and praise that costume deserves. From that point on you'll have absolutely nothing to gain by competing with the same costume once more at any competition of the same or a lower level. Well, nothing except the right to brag with how amazing you must be for winning so many competitions with just two costumes. That's just pathetic really, especially from someone trying to build a brand around herself.

And what advantage? The only advantage here is how the sandbagger knows where they'll be likely to get an easy win. Or perhaps I should remind you of her stunt at DCC last year where she won in her Mercy outfit in which she had already won the WCM prelims at Animecon. But no, that little princess had no problems with it whatsoever just like she had no problems demanding FACTS to make an exception in their rules for her and getting upset when they refused.

It's a bit unfair if someone takes a year to build something and competes in every fucking compo ever with the same costume whilst others do have the common decency to make a new one or improve an old one for different competition.

The amount of time it costs and materials spend per compo is way higher in the second one. That girl is just out for cheap wins and it's pathetic as she shows no improvement at all. I do not compete myself, but as a regular visitor even I can see how much of a douchebag and entitled bitch that girl is at the moment.

>> No.9840257

>>9840213

If others are improving their cosplay they should be way better, right? So, why should it matter to them?

I don't want to be the white knight here, but how are you able to judges someone without having competed or cosplayed yourself? It's so easy to say shit like this without knowing the effort one could put into 1 cosplay. The fact that her cosplay wins even after a few years shows how much effort she put into it (probably more than other do).

What I can imagine is that is hard for beginner contestant. I totally agree on that, but for the "veterans" out there. Just be better.

>> No.9840272

>>9840257
"Not competing" does not equal "not cosplaying." Thank you for reading comprehension.
I understand what you mean, but isn't is a bit unfair to ask others to be better than her when talking about DCC? We all know this is not where the big competetors are.
Next to that, she joins a big competition and then goes for the small ones afterwards. So, she gets recognised for her work. She gets a big fucking prize and then decides it is not enough and joins the little leagues. Her competing multiple times with the same costume isn't the issue.
Her competing with the same costume in a big competition, winning said competition and going on to win multiple small ones with the same costume is.

>> No.9840285

>>9840272

Well in that case my bad about the cosplaying. But that's so inconsistent and stupid! So if any cosplayer would go from small to big it's no problem? That's just plain out dumb. Besides that, from what I have seen the competition (the level of cosplay) at the party was way higher than Facts or DCC. The event might be smaller, but the competition was certainly not.

>> No.9840312

>>9840285
If you win a no name competition like.. Tomo's or something and then decide to join Animecon's, no. The level of craftmanship is way higher then. Of course, you wouldn't expect someone with as much skills to join in the first place, so you'd be expecting someone would join with their very first handmade costume.

The level at the party is indeed higher, but that does not make it okay for her to still try and compete with the same costume for 3 years or so just to win some prizes. It does damage the image people have of her, especially the bigger people in the community (skilled cosplayers, organisers etc.)
For someone trying to make a brand it's not the best of choices. More so as she isn't even releasing new content this way.

>> No.9840328

>>9840285
In the end, it is all about respect for your fellow cosplayers. At least she is clear about how much she respects the community and organisers. Wouldn't be the first time she feels entitled to something because she thinks she's special in some way.

As a veteran cosplayer and competer:
This is literally common decency and unwritten ruling worldwide. It's seen as poor taste. If you do
this, you lose respect of almost anyone who's competing in your own league. There's a good reason
why you rarely see the 'bigger' and more 'veteran' cosplayers compete at the lower leagues when
they win at Animecon. Almost every big cosplayer that won international preliminaries and/or finals
NEVER competes below that level.
There's also a reason why in the US you have the tier system.
Like, No one's going to stop her, but people will just start disliking her. That's up to her. It's seen as
disrespectful, lazy and poor taste. Period. She doesn't care, so not my problem. If she wants to be
liked and respected by the community, she needs to play different and actually produce more
cosplays.
The reason for competitions and competing regularly are that you're able to show you can make
costumes on a regular basis. If you can't do that; don't fucking compete. She won ICL(?) and ECG
once, not WCS (correcting someone above me). I have news for you; only ECG accepts the same
costume as you won with at Animecon because it's one month after. Any other competition expects
a new costume. Or new costumes in the case of WCS. WCS demands (I think) 3 NEW costumes for
the finals. So yeah. If you can't do that, don't compete.

>> No.9840400

>>9840285
To come in to your little discussion:
No, it is not stupid.
If you have proven your costume wins in a little league, you should advance to the higher ones. The other way around is not fair.
Compare it to sports: would you like it if Usain Bolt in his prime would seriously compete at your local amateur event? Or if your local third rate football club would hire a few pro's for 2 matches, so they win the championship? And then I mean not for the fans, but seriously to compete.

Instead of being happy to win, I would be ashamed. Not just because I would win something at a place i knew there was now real competition, but because that I would say that that is all I am worth. Every time I would do something below my level, I lower myself to that level. In this case, more than the sandbagging itself, I kind of pity her lack of pride and ambition and her view of herself.

>> No.9840424

> if organisation are really against it, why do they allow her to participate?
Organisation wasn't against it. She did not break any rules so there was no problem with her competing in The Party compo, Any arguments against that would be personal opinion/individual morals of nature.

I like winning stuff, ofcourse, it helps with building more projects, but I also like to keep improving and building. I was very satisfied with my performance and outfit and I definitely already have points I want to improve on.
Ofcourse it's sad when you hear a lot of people tell you 'i wish you won a prize' but I was very satisfied with the choices of the judges and think they judged very fair.

Let's not forget she has represented the Netherlands in ECG and Eurocos too. Linny has only won ICL so far as an international competition.

But by the end of the day it's all Linny's fault and fake boobs gets away with everything. What a beautiful world we live in.

Same way I'm not a singer myself, but I can definitely hear the difference between a fantastic singer, average singer and someone who sings like crows.
Or how I never broke a bone, but know it will hurt like a motherfucker if I do.

Or how I knew back in the days that sewing can be a pain in the ass. And now that I sew, can tell my past self it can indeed be a pain in the ass.

Whole sandbagging debate aside, can we stop using this bullshit argument. Nobody lost a child here (because that's what I call unimaginable pain). It's not hard to imagine how frustrating cosplaying can be if you ever hard a decent conversation with a cosplayer.

DCC is shit at distributing information about the winners wheras TP already had video and photo material online within 6h after the competition i guess. And that there were more 'known' competitors I suppose? She also joined the TP competition with Alice (madness returns?)

>Same way I'm not a singer myself, but I can definitely hear the difference between a fantastic singer, average singer and someone who sings like crows.
The fun thing between people who have a musical ear and the ones that don't, is that the ones that don't just hear something is 'off', but the ones with a musical ear know if someone is singing too sharp or flat (and give this type of feedback to singers to improve and whats not). So even if you don't have knowledge of something, it definitely helps if you do. Imagine if you had to judge singers: what good is judging them if you can't even define why they sound great or terrible? That would make a lousy judge imo.

Moekke her costume was new though, so i feel it is different.

Even if Ilunaneko her outfit was WCS quality, Moekke her outfit could still be shit and they woudnt have won something. (not saying it was shit, just trying to explain)

"Musical ears" like you translated it is a phenomenon which is mostly used for people who are born with a musical hearing. They don't have to ever have played a instrument or have song, but still are able to hear a difference between keys, recognise flat vs. sharp etc. Doesn't mean they are more knowledged about music or give better advise. (But of course most of those people are in the music industry because of that talent, but that's a non-cgl related topic.)

But sure, some people are "more" qualified or their opions are considered more of value. Still doesn't mean the "lower" qualified can't have good opions and should be overlooked.

you're right. It's the initial check that is the actual problem, though. They are just confiscating others' food and giving it away.

I was just thinking about what I hate most on conventions. Out of everything it are the people who act like regular life norms don't apply to conventions. >> No.9852889

Things I hate about conventions:
>That one guy who reeks like sweat but rejects any deodorant you offer.
>Overly loud and hyperactive people who constantly bump into people as they are running around and flinging their arms in the air like some spastic kind of idiot. Bonus points if they loudly start discussing inappropriate subjects such as their favourite hentai or fetishes.
>Poor ventilation, especially around the food court and event rooms.
>When a venue removes that comfy grass field in favour of sand or shitty plants.
>Only having greasy fast food and instant noodles available at the food court.
>Dark game rooms as bright screens in a dark room are a perfect way to kill your eyes.

I always will recommend Scheveningen because in the summer it's quite nice, and there are loads of food places along the beach. Seeing the sun set while you have dinner and some drinks is grand. There are many different kitchens on the beach, ranging from spanish, to italian, to dutch to japanese. There's also of course the standard restaurants on the boulevard. what if that guy gets a rash from using conventional deodorant?
because seriously, when I use anything with aluminum-salts as ingredient it starts itching all over the place. Sure I have different DEO with aluin, but that doesn't work as well, and is practically useless while in a fursuit.

>> No.9855079

>>9855066
Then use said alternative deodorant? Also if you're sweating like crazy in a fursuit at least take a shower afterwards and put on some clean clothes. Letting your suit ventilate afterwards and perhaps spraying an alcohol/lemon juice mixture into it should greatly reduce the smell that lingers in your suit. Or at least it does wonders to my shoes which I'm fairly sure have been classified as a chemical weapon at this point. Just don't be that guy who doesn't shower and wears the same clothes all weekend.

>> No.9855096

>>9855066
That sucks. Especially since non aluminum-salt deodorant is indeed such crap (speaking from experience). The best to do would be shaving where possible. To be fair, for me (as a woman) shaved armpits without deodorant reek less bad than having bushy armpits with deodorant. But idk if it's just armpits for you, cause some people also reek from back sweat and whatever.
