In the US there are a handful of states that allow this too, but even Americans within the country don't even realize that. Not to go on a rant, but I find it really weird how people are always looking for causes to fight for and often age of consent within your own country is not taken into consideration.

everyone who's heard about the "half your age plus seven" rule knows that it's a helpful guide for when you're between 18 and like 30, and you don't have to worry at all if both you and your potential partner are over 21. your brains are fully formed and you *should* be able to make good decisions about who to play with/date

I get some people haven't heard of this but it helps a lot of people, mainly guys, who don't take into account that they are in fact aging, whether or not they are maturing at the same rate. You'd be surprised how many people are like emotionally stunted to high school and continue to look for the same people they were attracted to in school. they're delusional and it can be gross.

Social change happens from within, which is something that has been actively hurting movements in Japan itself to make those changes, since it's always gaijin with the problem, and gaijin with the solution.

In Japan, it's also very normal to send 5 year olds out by themselves to run errands, they teach self reliance and personal responsibility from the craddle.
Tag that in with how physically, a lot of 14 yo girls don't develop much more until after their 20, so if she chooses to do so and if the parents have assessed the partner, where is the harm to others?

I just want to bitch about AP bags for a second. I love AP but jesus christ their bag quality. I've had two of their brand new bags basically fall apart on me the first time using them. The pleather flakes off immediately. My WEGO bags are better quality and more than half the price. My SWIMMER bags are nicer and were way cheaper.

I just cant justify the price for their quality anymore

I'm not trying to discredit you at all anon, but I'm wondering what the difference is between your situation and mine. I own more than a dozen of AP's bags of various ages that I've purchased at varying levels of use (from BNWT directly from AP all the way down to "I'll trade you a pair of socks for it") and I've never had any major issues, especially with flaking pleather. The most damaged bag I have has a pretty major stain on the inside from a pen the previous owner kept inside of it, but obviously that's not on AP and the exterior of the bag is still in great shape. I also use them fairly often both in and out of lolita...so what gives? Would you be willing to talk more about how you store them, what your local climate is like, etc?

>>9835814
Oh that's awesome to hear, thanks.

>>9835861
It isn't exactly a quality concern, although that's a part of it. I fully recognize that Chia is perfectly capable of producing quality garments. However Moitie has always made a point of producing at least their garments in Japan (I can't be certain with accessories as they aren't labeled like clothing items are). This would be a huge departure from their normal operations, thus would have all the associated growing pains. Factory delays, missprints, miscommunications, quality inconsistency, you name it. Same as AP and other brands have experienced.

Another factor is simply the price. Part of the cost associated with Moitie is the fact that it's made in Japan. If they're outsourcing to China the most likely reason is to save money on production while still charging the customer the usual amount so as to increase their margins. To me if it were being made in China suddenly after all these years it would look like a shameless money grab.

Maybe I'm overly wary but I'm watching this revival closely. If they can bring Moitie back from the dead in 2018 without giving up the things that make it Moitie I will be the happiest goddamn goth ever, and if they fuck it up my heart will break. Sorry for the blogpost, I just have a lot of Moitie feels.

Apparently a lot of places are closing down, it’s hard to source Japanese fabric and labor now, etc. And maybe part of that effort was great but if it costed them a lot then was it worth it? It’s hard to know what it’s really costing them to keep it in Japan.

Sleeping garden has Japanese tags, quality is good. The new jsk they mention a type of lace they are using on it which is different from the old version of it. But it’s still custom lace. So it sounds like it is going well.

I don't think it's fair to say it's to increase margins. Production costs in Japan have gone up for a few years. Other brands that are still produced in Japan, e.g. ETC, have made changes like making less cuts and colours than before. Anyway, this topic comes up every time Moitie releases something new, even though everything they've released after the Tamaqro take-over is also made in Japan.

>Same as AP and other brands have experienced.
AP is a special case because they've changed manufacturers many times in the past couple of years, and according to some people they're producing in several different countries now (including Myanmar). Other lolita brands are not like that. That being said, I haven't heard of any production issues with AP.

Really? I recall complaints about some of their pieces being a bit wonky, particularly the lace not showing evenly because the lining it was sewn on was lopsided. Iirc Dolly Cat was one of the prints that had this issue but I may be remembering wrong.

Was that what it was? I thought anons just said the lace tended to shift with the lining because it was sewn to the lining. I don't think they said it was sewn crooked, it's just hard to keep the lace straight when it's on a seperate layer, just look at the number of girls who have issues with underskirts and peeking petticoats.

You either completely ignored or just blandly missed the point that change happens from within, and the last thing Japan will do is give to social pressures from gaijin.
In addition, people are just so concerned with other countries sociopolitical issues yet they have no inclination to correct or improve what's happening on their homefront.
I've said it many times now, so if you don't understand then there is no helping you.

Can anyone help me ID this dress? I think it's AP, and after looking through lolibrary, I see similar dress designs, but not this. Maybe from a lucky pack? Most of the dresses have shirred shoulder straps (this does not) and the lace under the corset lacing is vertical instead of horizontal.

Funny as I just spent hours going through lolibrary trying to find it, then opened my lolita wishlist folder and it was the first image there... sadly, I don't know where I saved it from, and it was before I actually started naming files correctly. Shoot me.

If someone I've blocked on other social media contacts me via Lacemarket (makes an account just do so) and does not disclose who they are to me, should I report the account to Lacemarket admins or just not worry about it and move on? (They did not want to purchase the item from me btw.)

Sorry if the general is not the right place to post this, but I think I might be fucked.
I ordered a dress Oct. 6, 2017 through eBay. I live in Canada and post has been delayed to hell, so when it took several months to show up, I didn't think anything was amiss - especially because another item from a different seller I ordered at the same time didn't arrive either.
It's now been almost 6 months so I decided to message the seller, only to get no response back as of a few weeks now.
Am I screwed because I waited so long? I try to be patient and wait out the delays because I don't want sellers to be punished because of my shit country, but now I think it's come back to bite me. (And the other seller's item I ordered at the same time didn't arrive either, go figure.)

I ragequit FB ages ago and am watching proceedings with popcorn in hand. It wasn't even the privacy issue that irked me, the scrambled feed meant that lolitaupdates stopped being any use at all because I only saw the same 5 dresses that itas are creaming themselves over while the actually nice new dresses don't even show up, not even when I'm on the lolitaupdates page itself. FB was also not showing my posts to other people because apparently I'm not popular enough. I don't know if they just didn't think it through, because when irl friends say they don't even see me post on FB, then it really drives home that anything I post on FB dissappears into a black hole that will never be seen by anyone, ever, so why should I even post anything on there.

My addiction to cgl has just grown with that, though. Much thanks for those who repost stuff from the groups onto this board. I also use the amino app if I need a lolita comm fix.

That's what I use now, also helps that that's what Japanese brands and artists actually use the most too, so the news is even fresher than the FB group. The only thing not covered is taobao updates, but if you really want a non-FB source of that, lolita wardrobe on tumblr always posts what's up for preorder, and then you can work backwards to figure out the taobao shop. There's also Shellolita.com, but last I heard the site admin was having issue keeping the site going.

Kind of wish that we'd stayed in the era of blog posts. I had feedly all set up with different categories so I can quickly get my burando news, but these days twitter is much faster and more reliable with burando news, a lot of them hardly even post to their own ameblo/yaplog anymore.

That's really odd, at least in my case everyone I added was a "friend" and not a family member. I wonder if FB was trying to hide posts to/from family members to reduce family drama?

Either that or the rumours were true, maybe it's a social engineering experiment to see whether forcing you to interact with people you normally don't will "like" somehow force you to start liking them out of sheer boredom? idk, that's a pretty big fuckup on their algo to only show you posts from people you don't particularly like.
