don't try to create something that doesn't exist. punk lolita is expressive, there's literally no such thing as toned-down punk. there are always layers, fabric mixtures, and an anti-pristine/degraded styling

I feel the hard part about making a punk lolita coordinate work is leaving out the grungy dirty aspect of punk. If you look at Nana Kitade for example, all of her clothes are high quality. She wears nice shoes, and even if she wears sneakers they arn't dirty and falling apart. Same with her studded belts and jewelry. Even though the patterns, colors and accessories of the outfit have punk elements it still has the high quality and attention to detail that makes a outfit Lolita. When people try wear Punk Lolita today, they are missing that element.

I think what anon means by "natural" is "effortless", as in coords that do look like the wearer expressing herself rather than something a "punk girl costume" might look like, if that makes sense.

I wonder, could you bring in a bit more dirty aspects? I'm not talking about literal dirt on the dresses, but more so torn tights like >>9825489 or real beat up shoes/jackets and it still look good.

A big part of punk -- and deathrock -- was customizing things and making them your own. For example-- gradually the jeans are patched until there are only patches, no jeans at all. Most modern lolita is store bought and looks store bought.

"punk" for Japanese street fashion is a different aesthetic and not a subculture like regular punk is. it also allows casual elements like petti-less skirts, and can deviate from regular lolita in a lot of ways.

you can think of "punk" as one thing and "lolita" as one thing, and "punk lolita" combines both of those aesthetics in various ways.
