So.... other than Fresh Cherry a bunch of non-prints are also going up this Saturday.

Anyone want to chime in on these gloves? The last pair of gloves I had from AP were kind of horrible. Though granted mine were released in 2006 or 2008 or something and by the time I bought them in 2013 the lace had gone all weird and stiff.

I have a similar pair. They are quite delicate (like any lace gloves) so if you think you can wear them without catching them on anything, they are nice. But it's very easy to catch them on things. I personally prefer the wristlet type that don't go over your fingers, they just have a loop for your middle finger. It's easier to eat and manage things like keys, belongings, etc. without having to remove them.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. I haven't been to /cgl/ in a few years

when i was in high school I wanted to be a daily lolita and worked almost full time to try to amass a wardrobe for daily wear. now I'm in grad school and I never wear this stuff. i'm super busy and have horrible mental health that prevents me from doing anything beyond the bare minimum. even if i had the energy i don't wanna bother dealing with people harassing me. i've tried selling things on FB but nobody seems interested in my personal sphere, and I don't wanna deal with people on the international market. i'd feel like i'd have to repair the damage on much of the stuff, or at least try to get out the cat smell (i have 6 cats so i assume things might be vaguely catty) and i just don't have the time or energy

guess what i'm getting at is, would people be interested in paying shipping only for some heavily used and damaged pieces or should i just throw it all away? i was thinking of making a thread just giving everything away at some point. at this point i kinda just want it all gone. it just makes me sad to look at

But if you're really sure, I'd be interested if you'd be okay with shipping internationally. I'd pay your normal price too if it's cheap. As long as nothing is literally ripped in two, I don't mind damages or cat smell and other cheapfags probably think the same.

opinions/ experiences selling something that was a gift.
I got a ap full set as a gift like 5 years ago. It really meant so much to me, but I haven't worn any of the pieces in years.

Who did you get it from? If it was from, say, a relative or friend who isn't into lolita, then I'd say go ahead, no biggie. But if it's someone who is into lolita as much as you are, maybe ask whether it'd hurt her feelings to sell it or not?
I've got a friend who I bought a phone case for last year, and now she upgraded her phone it doesn't fit. She feels terrible to sell a gift, and tells me that a lot. However I want her to sell it! It's a damn cute case, and if she isn't getting any use for it she might as well get some money for it and give it to someone who wants it, but she feels too bad, so it'll always just collect dust.
Anyway sorry for the blogpost, just showing you how whoever gifted it to you might think.

Also.... it was 5 years ago. It's a very old gift. I'm sure the gifter understands that your style has changed. There's things I've received in the past that I've sold because it's not my thing anymore, so why let it take up space when someone else could use it?

Maybe take one last coord pic in it, then send it on its way

>> No.9813908

How full is the full set? Just mentioning that you might be able to keep the accessories and wear them with the other version you want to buy. Accessories are often the hardest things to track down as people often lose little bits of jewellery or throw away badly stained socks or broken wrist cuffs.

As for selling the gift, 5 years is a pretty long time and most people wouldn't mind if you say you loved it, but are now thinking of selling it. But, some people do gift things with strings attached, and for some people, a $300-500 full set might be something they attach strings to. You know the giver better than us, is this a gift they're fixated on, do they often ask you about it? If so, they might be a little upset about you selling it on (none of this is your fault, it's really their problem for giving away something they feel attached to. But your issue is whether you want to keep the relationship going by keeping the dress even if you don't wear it).

You might try and bring up the dress in conversation and see how they react to it. If they don't react badly, mention that you're thinking of selling the dress.

At the bare minimum you can message to confirm that the paypal invoice was received because there have been times when paypal glitches and doesn't alert the seller as to receiving payment.

After that you've got 180 days to open a dispute, so it'll depend on your patience with the seller.

I sell a lot of used items online outside lolita, and I can tell you the one thing buyers want is just honesty and pictures. If there’s damage, take a picture of the damaged area. Describe what you can’t see as well (maybe faded colors, the changed feel to a fabric, or smell like you stated) and buyers always like it. It also helps you in the event anyone tries to use damage against you, as your case is all in the pics or description. Don’t throw it away because after the initial pics taken, it just sits there online in a listing and you can store it out of sight until it sells. It’s a very easy way to make money if you don’t feel like doing things.

"flat rate" does not apply to international shipping if you use a USPS flat rate box. Get your own box and then USPS will weigh it and go over the shipping options and costs. You can also take the box to USPS and FedEx and get quotes.

Flat rate does apply to international shipments, it's just a different price schedule than domestic.

>>9817269
If it's a JSK, wrap it in whatever you're going to, then take it to the post office and discuss your options. Don't buy packing materials beforehand.
Generally weight will be cheaper, but the flat rate padded envelopes can be a good deal for lighter things and heavier items can ship cheaper flat rate.

Lurk here for 3-4 months before posting again. Trust me, you'll learn everything you need in that time without getting ragged on. If you do need to find a place to post in the meantime while in the lurker period, post on one of the FB help groups. They aren't the best but you can combine what you observe from cgl with what you get from there to get some really good pearls of wisdom.
Also what >>9817972 said. Petti first, everything else later.

To remedy this, first put aside money for a decent petti. Budget for it, maybe 60 dollars. Then buy your first dress, something you fall in love with that fits you well. Now you know what kind of petti you need, and you can use the money you set aside to get a petti that looks and feels great.

>> No.9818057

>>9817965
Seconding lurking, that's how I got myself together before posting anywhere. Also feel free to ask questions in the stupid questions thread, no one can get mad at you for asking stuff there, just maybe don't question dump and just ask a thing here and there. Hell, I've been into the fashion for a few years now and still sometimes ask stuff in stupid questions because it's just something I never heard about or I'm very uncertain of.

I think only other recommendation I'd give other than lurk is to make sure you're not doing an overly themed or costume-y first coord. If you're trying to get into the fashion overall try to aim for items that will be easily used with other clothes and are more universal than, say, buying madonna crowns and giant veils or cake hats, etc. I'm not going to dictate what kind of dresses you should buy as beauty is in the eye of the beholder but really don't try OTT first thing.
