Post dresses/accessories/what have you that you've been debating if it is worth it or not.
First up: Haenuli's latest print.

>> No.9804592

>>9804585
Looks like just another tacky, gimmicky print. Not a fan, but I tend to dislike quirky/fandom prints in general so it's up to your personal taste really.
Unless the quality is horrible and your eye isn't trained enough to see it yourself, why would you buy or not buy something based on someone else's opinion? We don't know your measurements nor your wardrobe and what you can do with it, we can't know if you can pull this off or not. If you like it and think you can wear it well, buy it.

>> No.9804608

>>9804585
Why doesn't this have waistties or a bow on the back, maybe corset lacing? The back of the dress just looks so empty.

I guess it's worth knowing if people are gonna look at you and cringe regardless if it fits with your wardrobe

Why are you in this fashion in the first place?

>> No.9804694

>>9804624
This, I personally think most border prints are cringey but personally don't give a shit if someone else wears them.
Other people probably think I'm cringey for only wearing 'boring' toned down solids all the time, so what?
People are gonna judge you regardless of what you wear, so just wear what makes you happy.

Do you think I could actually wear this as pyjamas or not? I think it's really cute sleepwear but if it feels like shit it'd be useless.

>> No.9804774

>>9804771
I wouldn't sleep in it, but it looks cozy for walking around the house once you're home for the rest of the day.

For me with prints the cut is always the deciding factor. Even if I love a print, if the cut is absolute garbage or would look terrible on me I turn away from it. So it's up to you to decide if you think the dress would look good on you and if the styling works.

Personally I'm not a sweet person but I adore Sailor Moon so I was a bit tempted by the navy colorway, but in the end I know I don't like the cuts and construction Haenuli is using here.

>> No.9804851

>>9804771

The back looks like it zips up, presumably has a hook and eye at the top of the zipper as well. The waist has waist ties, so there's probably buttons at the waist as well. Personally lying down on buttons, zippers, hooks are all nightmare-tier sleepwear for me, but you could try wearing something you already own and see how you feel about sleeping on top of buttons and zippers. If you sleep on your stomach, try sleeping on a bow since there's quite a few on the front of the dress.

If you really want to wear burando as sleepwear, I'd recommend looking for cutsew OPs. The summer ones are really good, some of them won't have even a single zipper or button, just a lot of lace and prettiness the occassional bow that can be removed.

>> No.9805213

>>9804771
I wouldn't recommend it. I have the JSK version and the fabric is a flowy chiffon, not something to really sleep in. But i love seeing the sleepy coords made with it, ie with eyemask canotiers and the daydream bed bag.

Agreeing with >>9804851 , just get a comfy cutsew OP

This is cute but the print seems low quality. What do you think?
It's from Choker Rabbit

>> No.9811457

>>9810084
neverland/souffle song is horrible quality. you can see how the bodice ripples against the mannequin, it'll look even worse on a human. they don't give the structure needed for the bodice to lay evenly. (not sure if this is called interfacing? not a seamstress...yet)

unless you can get it for $20 or something, don't waste your money. Good luck trying to match the pinks in that print tho. At least Meta would have several matching accessories and legwear for it.

I'm not sure about this dress in particular, but I've had pretty incredible experiences from SouffleSong. I have seen horribly stitched dresses from them in person, however, all of mine have come out great. I'm probably just lucky, that's what the folks in my comm say, anyway.

I'm just curious and interested in learning: how do other brands give structure to their dress bodices to make them lay evenly? I've never bough from taobao so I can't see the difference by inspecting for myself.

My talent stops at sewing buttons, but I love learning about the details of (quality) dressmaking.

Should I buy these Melissa collab RHSes? They're reasonably priced for RHSes but I've never bought VW shoes so I don't know how they fit (I have pretty narrow feet for my size), plus I've heard they don't really stay on your foot all that well.

They are lined with fabric, and are sewn from more complex patterns which account for the anatomy of the chest using darts and curved seams, as opposed to being made from simple rectangular panels. Generally also when you have more details on a bodice like pintucks, lace or ribbons, it adds to the integrity of the structure, whereas cheap brands often rely on the print to add interest
