Gulls I have some old pieces from when I was just starting lolita I'd like to sell. However, I was pretty careless with my clothes back then and they're not in good condition. How do you price items that have stains/discoloration/other damage? I mostly just want them gone at this point, so is doing an auction with a starting price of 1$ a good idea? At first I thought she was getting squished by a tight dress, but after looking at the measurements I wonder if she's simply not wearing a good bra.

>> No.9778188

Gulls often talk about buying used clothing from Wundervelt, you could look at their account and copy their description and pricing.

With a $1 auction, be prepared if the item does actually sell for $1, especially if your account doesn't have decent feedback, people may think it's a scam and be unwilling to bid more than $1. If you have any social media presence definitely hype up the auction any way you can.

>> No.9778195

>>9778188
Yeah, this is what I was worried about. I have decent feedback as a buyer, but haven't really sold items at all before. I honestly don't mind if it doesn't sell for much as long as the buyer pays for shipping though, so it might be fine.

A tube bodice will do that even with a good bra. The tissue has to go somewhere. If you ever used a binder, you know what I mean about tissuing getting distributed weirdly. Trust me I was 100cm pre-breast reduction. I knew how to find good bras using the BraThatFits method. Suddenly my IW dresses fit so much better just from sheer size reduction.

Do broad listings..
Make nicely lit collage pics of the items
describe them in the post, damages et all
Try doing blocks of 6 or so per post
>PICK TWO, your choice, see pictures damages described in listing
Or something similar
With the nicer items you could ask for more, but you'd sell them quick if it's buyers choice at say, 20-30.
If some things refuse to sell, tbrow them into orders as gifts.

>> No.9780168

Actually, AP and Baby make them quite often, but usually on high-waisted dresses, which probably won't be boob-friendly. Eternal Carnival (regular release) is the only one that's low-waist and has no zipper, but the waist itself is quite small even with shirring so you might want to avoid it (there's no zipper, so you'll have to squeeze your boobs past the small waist).

For actual recommendations. Try Enchantlic Enchantilly. They're a lot more generous with their fabric, so even if you don't like the way the fully shirred dresses look you can still take them to a tailor's and there is enough fabric to have them make a fitted front and a shirred back for you. Their jsks have all been half-shirred, though there's only like 3 or 5 so far.

It doesn't look great quality to begin with, you can see the ribbons are one-sided satin since one bow tail is helpfully flipped and looks greyer on the other side, I wouldn't be surprised if the ribbons actually look even cheaper in person. The gold trim is way too yellow, too. they make the gold earring she's wearing look beige. Imo it's these careless taobao-tier details that will make the dress a pain to actually wear well.

Both are easily fixed if you're willing to spend money taking it to a tailor's, I suppose. I don't know that I have a lot of faith in the fabric quality considering the trim, and again I wouldn't be surprised to find this photo had been shooped to heck and back so buyers find the dress appealing. But if you really like it that much, just get the dress and get the trim replaced.

Cut it short and do rebonding (at a hair salon).

Have a friend with hair texture like this and that's what she did. There's no point having long hair unless you can also show off how sleek and shiny and well-behaved it is. If it's just long and frizzy like this it just looks like you don't take of yourself and haven't heard of hair salons where professional people help you take care of your hair.

So, a seller marked my address wrong, which caused the package to be sent to my country but has now been sent back to hers.
She seems pretty snarky about the whole thing in the pms that we've had, even though it's her fault. I'd be sad to just let the dress go, but I wouldn't mind as long as she gives me a full refund including shipping. Is this too much to ask?

Or on the other hand, should I get her to re-ship it again? I do want the dress but I don't want to pay for shipping, as I don't think I should pay double for something she messed up on. Would that be asking too much as well? I've never had a postal issue this bad before.

IW's announcement went up:

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Innocent World,
Designer Yumi Fujiwara will launch a new label.

The design concept is "Lady's casual wear"
We propose a style that is simple but elegant cuteness overflows.

Easy to have for commuting and school attendance, simple design features.
The material is less likely to wrinkle, mainly polyester is easy to clean.
In addition, there are many plain items that are easy to coordinate with your existing clothes.

The announcement and reservation of goods are scheduled from the end of February to the beginning of March.

Please look forward to it

Speaking of casual clothes. A lot of girls in my comm love old-school lolita because it's more casual/simple looking. Shorter skirts and JSKs that only fit a short, thin petticoat are accepted in old school lolita as long as it's from the right brand and time. But how come when brands release more casual stuff nowadays, people argue that it's not lolita at all?

>> No.9782162

>>9782128
I've seen different Moitie pieces with that print go for really cheap

>> No.9782168

>>9782160
It depends on what it is. Mini skirts and salopettes are often the subject of these arguments because they don't subscribe to the "standard" lolita silhouette, so people argue that they're meant for fairy kei/girly style rather than lolita.
Old school designs that need thin petticoats are accepted because they're "classic" designs that were around when the fashion began, plus a dress doesn't have to have three stacked cupcake petticoats worth of poof to count as lolita.

Can you point out a recent release that isn't a mini skirt or salopette that people argue isn't lolita?
If it's something like IW's simple releases (re: >>9779195), the argument might stem from girls' off perspectives; it's not exclusive to newbies either, some people are so used to see OTT printed pieces that anything less is "boring" and "barely lolita" to them, which is messed up imo but I digress.

>> No.9782178

>>9782168
>Can you point out a recent release that isn't a mini skirt or salopette that people argue isn't lolita?
I don't agree that salopettes can't be lolita. I feel like people are using a different set of rules for old-school for no viable reason. I think brands like AP wouldn't intentionally release many things that are not lolita. The short skirts is just an example, I also see the same thing happen for some sack dresses, cutsew dresses, showing skin, amount of accessories, hair and makeup. I get old-school has a different aesthetic but I don't get why people are putting more limitations on lolita now.

>> No.9782179

>>9782178
I don't think it's people applying stricter limits on the fashion as it is people hanging onto what they see as the familiar form of lolita. I don't know if it's out of nostalgia, a fear of change or something else, but I can understand it; if you've been around for a while and got a set idea of what lolita is, it can be jarring to see the brands straying from what you perceive as the standard.
I'm not saying that thinking this way is a good or bad thing, just pointing out that this way of thinking exists and it may be the reason why people reject certain designs and disregard them as not being lolita.

>> No.9782196

>>9782178
>I don't get why people are putting more limitations on lolita now.
It's not a now thing. Western people and online comms have always had strict ideas about what is and isn't lolita unless they're the weeby hugbox tween groups. To begin with it was due to the number of literal cosplays and ita trash that made up the majority of what people were calling "lolita" that triggered "the rules" - and shit, back in the day there was a debate about whether striped socks of all things were lolita on egl. Painting dresses, tea length, wearing tights... all these things have been previously decried as "not very lolita" at times. Only certain types of old school get accepted now to be honest - basically you need to look like a model snap and still have the more matchy vibe of today's coords, the actual "lolita outfits" that you saw back in the day would probably be torn to shreds now or nitpicked to death.

I appreciate your insight. I know it doesn't mean much to say this on cgl but I started wearing lolita over 10 years ago. I took a break, and now that I'm back old-school is much more popular in my comm, so I just never thought about the different standards before. I was always on the "if the brand designer considers it lolita, it's lolita" side of the discussions.

I have modeled for meta at a con before, and the shoes they brought me were a few sizes too big.
I'm also EU 35/36 and I think I was given the L or M, if I remember correctly. My shoes were tea parties. I think tea parties are very forgiving because it's a flat heel, so your feet don't slide forward if it's too big, if that makes sense. If you're buying tea parties then you can just put in a good foam insole and it will be ok with some socks. For me the tea parties felt fine even without an insole, but I used one just in case during the show.

If you're buying something with high heels I'd suggest being more careful. I sell shoes at my part-time job and I always suggest a snug fit. High heels that are too big are really uncomfortable because of what I mentioned earlier, your feet slide down & forward.

I know that's a lot of vague information and doesn't tell you much about the fit, but I hope I helped somewhat
