the betas are finding cheaper thots. Supply and demand. They flooded the market with tits and ass and now they are a dime a dozen.

If Nigri is so worried, she should have saved instead of blowing all the money she earned on stupid shit. Your money management skills have to be piss poor to if you are making how much a month in patreon and other sales and you are worried out your "reach"?

stfu, you hit the dreaded kryptonite of all thots. age.

facebook changed the algorithms, if you want to reach people interested in cosplay who aren't already following you, you have to pay. if you want to follow people who do follow you, you have to pay. the instagram algorithm also changed recently. it's all going $ for views. you may see more non thots going to patreon just because it's the only feed still showing in post order

Her father made her invest her money last I heard. She’s pushing 30, reached as far as she could. She needs to accept that people move on to the next younger piece of ass they find. Only thing about her is she provides nothing back to the community like yaya did. I dislike both of them, but at least yaya made the sewing patterns to help the community. All Jessica did was provide her tits in photos for wank material.

Yaya also pushed that line of cosplay fabrics, which surprisingly are pretty nice quality.

As someone who does social media marketing as a job, this is the simple answer.

Facebook constantly changes it's algorithms, and recently did so that businesses/pages have less reach.

Instagram is apart of Facebook and it's algorithms have already been fucked up, so it's only a matter of time before it gets worse.

I guess I have so low of a reach that it hasn't really affected me. heh.
It feels like a lot of us smaller creators have no opportunities though. I wish I could find more out there about how to use social media to get my content out there, but the more and more they fuck with these algorithms the more futile it is for me to even try anymore.
>I actually try to take good photos with costumes and stuff in the right settings

social media companies are about one thing: making money. they aren't doing it for the good of humanity. everyone's trying to monetize it somehow be it via data mining and selling that info to companies, outright charging you for exposure, ads, or otherwise. it starts as a cool idea but eventually bills have to be paid. even 4chan went through that phase as anyone who saw 4chan go down repeatedly and the donate or die campaigns can remember.

The replies to this thread is proof that 95% of cgl doesnt do anything cosplay related. If you did you’d be bummed at how FB and IG have cut organic reach so you have to pay for your own fans to see your posts. Cosplayers and crafters are getting screwed but of course most of cgl are just bitter fatties that don’t contribte shit to cosplay but still want to cry and whine about people like nigiri.

Wrong. For most people showcasing what you make is a great motivation to keep improving and keep making cool things.

Germia made a blogpost about how to deal with social media, maybe an interesting read for those that feel like they are on a downspiral. http://aimreg.blogspot.nl/2018/01/what-are-you-doing-wrong-with-your.html

>Most people

Most people cosplaying aren't concerned with follower metrics, expanding reach, or turning views into profitablity. That blog post is geared towards the small fraction of the community trying to turn a hobby into a career, and more power to them. But that isnt, and shouldn't be what drives the culture forward.

>> No.9777483

I just wanted to add my two cents on this because I have multiple Facebook accounts for various things, because fuck Facebooks feed algorithms and forcing me to see anything other than what I want.

>make a Facebook I call "Lolita Facebook"
>exists entirely for groups like Lolita Updates/Artist Alley, lolita businesses, small gaming news, niche gaming companies, some artists
>most of what I follow has under 5,000 likes keep in mind
>no friends, especially not people who know me
>get roughly 10 random lolitas who find me over the years, I'm assuming, from the Lolita Updates group
>let the randos friend me because it was rare
>only 3 "friends" post frequently anyway and I seldom see their posts
>this update now forces these 3 friends onto my feed all the time
>literally one person is the most chatty, she is about 40% of my feed
>have missed releases of small lolita brands and companies over this stupid change
>had to actually unfollow all 10 friends to get my feed back to whatever it looked like before

Make a fake facebook with a few active friends and try it out for yourself so you understand how bad it is if you have to. You have to see it with your own eyes to understand how worthless it'd be to fight. The idea that there's been like 90% drops is seriously what's going on. Don't start a Facebook cosplay page or small business page right now at all. They're just throttling anyone not a friend into the dirt.

Another social media marketer here. Basically, these posts are right, but neglect to mention the details:

>About a year ago, fb started giving noticeable preference to pages that buy ads on fb
>In exchange, unbeknownst to these pages, their organic growth rate declined. Forcing them to buy more ads
>Pages that just relied on organic growth (like many cosplay pages), although weren't being given the same preference as ads, didn't have their growth rates affected much by this
>Until recently
>It's hard to say exactly when this happened, but very recently (3 months ago tops) the organic growth rate of pages that don't buy ads have begun to get cut, too
>They're seeing the same organic growth cut that pages that buy ads saw when they stopped buying ads
>I can't say for sure, but it's likely that pages that have bought ads are therefore experiencing even more organic growth rate cuts

Basically, Facebook is trying to suffocate non-paying pages. I know a lot of meme pages like to say it's just because they're not businesses, but in reality, it's just because they're not paying for precious ad space. Facebook has arguably the highest reach potential of any digital marketing platform out there right now, so bigger businesses are willing (and able) to put more money into it, and it's starting to get competitive--which is bad news for pages that rely entirely on organic growth because that means you're getting that much less priority in having your posts get seen.
If you don't want to pay for Facebook advertising, my advice is just use Facebook as a photo dumping ground. Make sure the link to your social media platform of choice is posted everywhere, make sure your photos are nice and organized into convenient folders, and then leave it alone until you have more photos to dump. If you're serious about cosplay it's better to have a Facebook page than not (even if you don't use it), but I wouldn't advise making it your main platform.

Only cosplayers trying to make it a career are worried about reach. Your limping all cosplayers into a cookie cutter that only fits a small fraction. If this where the case, there would be more and more stands about cosplayers photographs then art at conventions and less walking about the con. Not everyone goes to a convention to enter the competitions. Many , including my wife and myself, like to wear cosplays to find people of simulr intrests and to show or love of that franchise. We go in expecting nothing from other people and not demanding others attention. We get attention, it’s nice but not what we where aiming for. We just wanted to cosplay because we find it fun. Motivation to get better is “ I can’t wait to see what you do next year” and “ wow I like how you did this” by verbal recognition at the convention. The ammounts of likes we get by what ever platform we are on isn’t what motivates us to do more. It’s the reactions we get when we are around others.

Are there any social media that could replace Facebook for cosplayers and lolitas? And I don’t mean for just those trying to make a career out of it, but actual social media platforms for people who want their geeky stuff to stay unrelated to the rest of their life. The Amino communities seemed promising, and I like that it’s a mainly mobile platform. But the emerging communities in these apps seem... fairly noobish.

Maybe you aren't, but I know tons of non-professional cosplayers who hate the algorithm changes and make a point of trying to improve their social media following. There is definitely something to be said about gaining encouragement from fans and showing off your work like >>9777381 said already.

There's some new "guides" out there about avoiding the new Instagram throttle that comes once your posts hit 10% of your followers. I've been trying them out for a few weeks and have noticed no difference. The only way I've been able to break 10% is by posting particularly good content that gains a lot of traction.

Facebook lets anybody purchase ads, it's just a matter of finding enough people who's interests/likes align with what you're selling.
Unless your business is something illegal, you should be fine to buy ads if you want to. It's just not a good idea to since it'll slash your reach. Facebook ads are a good short term solution if you just have say, one particular post you want to promote as long as you don't mind the fact that it'll cut the reach of other posts you make in the future.
