>Since shopping services are closing soon for holidays, what are the last items you're buying for the year?
I have to crack down on my spending so I'm not buying much, but my shopping service is currently holding a cute pleated skirt from VM and a few accessories for me. I'll have them shipped to me after Christmas, probably.
>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year?
I think about 7 items, possibly more. It doesn't sound like a lot but my wish list is quite small and most pieces were released at least 10 years ago so I felt quite lucky this year.
>What's in your wishlist for next year?
More of what I currently have: Casual pieces, comfy cutsews, simple blouses and ridiculous frilly ones, cardigans and boleros, and accessories and shoes. My wardrobe is already quite stable and easy to be worn daily, I just want more things.

>Since shopping services are closing soon for holidays, what are the last items you're buying for the year?
Last month I bought some winter boots, I don't plan any new purchases until 2018.
>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year? What's in your wishlist for next year?
I found 2 dream dresses this year. My wardrobe is pretty much complete now and there are only like 5 items left on my wishlist. And I don't feel like buying anything new anymore unless there is a new release that I really fall in love with. The only thing I want to concentrate on buying next year are some elaborate hats and accessoires.

Last thing I bought, and will probably be the last this year, is a VM winter coat. I'm gonna pick her up from the post office this afternoon, so excited!
>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year? What's in your wishlist for next year?
I wanted some capelets and aprons, got 3 and 2 respectively. I added tartan to my wardrobe this year by aquiring 3 dresses, but by far the best are Hawase Doll in pink and a white usakumya.

I just have my Misty Sky MTO on the way. Can't wait!

>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year? What's in your wishlist for next year?
Quite a few thanks to all the MTO this year and helpful gulls here. I've acquired a lot of fancier/OTT lolita dresses, so next year I plan to focus on finding more casual and old school pieces.

A lot. Acquired the holy grail + maybe 15 wishlist items. For the next year I'm going to focus a lot more on EGA than EGL, and I recently changed sizes slightly over the waist, but slightly enough to not fit 90% of my old wishlist. The 2018 wishlist got breathing space and velvet.

Sadly, two. This has forced me to concentrate on the basics, however. It's a bittersweet feel.
>What's in your wishlist for next year?
I only just started seriously hunting down wishlist dresses, so I hope to strike more off my list next year. Also a parasol and a winter coat. I'm hoping for designs I really love to be released.

>Since shopping services are closing soon for holidays, what are the last items you're buying for the year?
I finally got my blouse from baby that took a week for them to find and ship out and then nearly got sent to Australia by mistake. It took like 3 weeks to get as opposed to the usual 3 days-week so that kinda cut into me looking for anything new. Probably won't buy anything until the new year now since our postal service is probably going to be slower until after new years and I don't need the stress of stuff just sitting at customs for days.

>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year?
I got one dress in the summer sales this year that I saw in Japan last November and couldn't justify buying. It was half price too so I was thrilled. A few blouses I wanted got rereleased so I bought those too. I've mostly bought new brand releases as I've seen them this year and didn't really have a list.

>What's in your wishlist for next year?
More blouses, cutsews and head accessories. I wear skirts more than JSKs and OPs so I need more options of blouses etc. to coordinate them with. Also more coloured shoes. I need a pair of red mainly to go with black x red coords but I haven't found any I like yet. I'm also contemplating buying that one pair of Baby socks that they use in all their shoots. They've really grown on me but never seem to be in stock when I decide to bite the bullet and get them. Also would like to handmake more main pieces too.

Mostly blouses and casual pieces, and a couple of fishbone pettis. I've filled out my DD list again but nothing on there makes me burn with desire like the two I got this year so I'm relieved that urgency is gone.

>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year? What's in your wishlist for next year?
Got a few items on my wishlist including a dream set that I'm still thrilled to bits over. However I'm still a relatively new person to the fashion compared to most, and this year I realized I really need to stop impulse buying random things, especially Taobao items just because they're cheap. I really need to decide what direction I want to go in and focus my wardrobe more.

Spent a few weeks going through every page on Lolibrary a month or two ago and compiled everything that really pulled at me, image related, and it's really helped. If there's so many dresses I seriously love the look of, why am I wasting money on random Taobao and cheap secondhand that I don't really care about just because it's a good deal? I'm glad I finally realized this.

In mild angsting, I hope they rerelease the regular Traumerei JSK someday sigh. Over time it's starting to top my dream dress list, especially as it reminds me a lot of rainbow row in Charleston where I have lots of family. It's just too pricey right now for my monetary comfort. I understand the whole "just save up for it", I really do and likely will someday if it never gets a rerelease. Just...maybe after a while longer in the fashion. I have plenty to pursue at least.

About 5 wishlist dresses I was lowkey dying for but didn't want to admit it. A bunch more dresses that were pieces in a style I was after, but weren't specifically on my list. Plus some dream accessories.

>What's in your wishlist for next year?
More blouses and accessories! There aren't many specific main pieces I'm actively searching for anymore, but I feel like I need more variation in my blouses. Swear to god 3/4 of mine are high collar. And shoes, I need more shoes because I default to the same pair constantly. A side project is finding backups for some of my favorite things if I can, and selling off a pile that just isn't going to be worn.

I don’t really have a SS other then a friend in Tokyo able to get stuff there for me. So there really isn’t a closed shop in that reguards. But I did place an order for a few things from taobao with a SS. Nothing extravagant but some stuff to decorate my new apartment with.

>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year? What's in your wishlist for next year?

I didn’t buy a lot this year. Only got funeral precession in black, bride of death in black and blue, iron gate op at a criminal price ( only 600!), finished collecting silent moon in all cuts and colors And I finally bought more blouses since I had only 5 before. 2018 im focusing on shoes, boleros, sweaters, socks and jewlery.

My goal was to buy more Lolita, but again I ended up spending more on other hobbies.
There still is a OP on sale that I kind of want. I like it, it’s cheap, the model is long with a long torso so it will most likely look good on me, it fits within my style and with other items I have. But I just really dislike short poofy sleeves, so I am still doubting.

>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year? What's in your wishlist for next year?
At the moment I can only think of one, but I am sure I got some more. I just directly thought of my ultimate dreamdress, the dress I have been wanting to buy ever since I started with Lolita, which I was able to obtain this year for a good price.
For next year the goal is more (ultimate) dreamdresses, but most are special collaborations and therefore hard to find or outside the range of what I can spend on just one dress.

diffanon but here's why I like lolita:
>it's luxurious and romantic and I'm a decadent lush
>(the good stuff) is so detailed and well-made; can last for years and years with good care
>lolita has a rich history and culture. nabbing a dress feels like collecting art
>I like being large and extra, taking up space and looking intimidating in a powerfully feminine way

that's what comes to mind. also, always having wanted to be a princess, and pic related being a huge fascination to me growing up.

I love the little details and the high quality, I love the experience of dressing up nicely just to go out. I've loved the look of historic fashion for as long as I can remember and lolita gives me a more reasonable version of it for daily wear; I would wear full size civil war era dresses out if I could. Even doing things like going to grocery store is fun, and I find that I stand up straighter and have more confidence. I like the social aspect as well, going to meets is a lot of fun and I've even met friends outside of the community because they asked me about my clothes. Maybe I'm a little dramatic, but there's something kind of zen about caring for the clothes, planning an outfit, and taking a bit of extra time in the morning to get ready, like a little ritual. I can slow down and indulge in something beautiful.

>Since shopping services are closing soon for holidays, what are the last items you're buying for the year?
I just bought a BTSSB blouse a few days ago, this will be last last Lolita purchase of this year.
>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year? What's in your wishlist for next year?
I don't really keep track of what I buy all year but some of the things I found this year were wishlist items aswell as dream dresses/items, so I'm very pleased with finding those!
Hoping to score some more dream and wishlist items next year.

Also, my new years resolution last year was not to buy random stuff on a whim, which I always ended up regretting (and usually selling for less thanI paid too) and I actually managed to stick to that.
I'm going to keep that going next year, even if that means my wardrobe isn't going to grow much.
If it isn't on my wishlist, I'm not buying it.

Hopefully nothing, I'm focused on selling right now. I have a BPN jacket and blouse waiting to be shipped at my SS.

>How many items have you ticked off your wishlist for the year?
A few, I'm down to the final 5 items and hoping next year I'm able to get them all even if 4/5 of them are pretty rare. If I can find just one of my top three I'd consider 2018 to be a good year.

>What's in your wishlist for next year?
I had extensively looked through my wardrobe, culled a lot of it and had written a basic list of items I feel missing and I'll be focusing on finding those to fill the gaps.

What's a good rate of growing your closet? I only really started getting serious about lolita/buying brand about six months ago, now I've got 1 jsk, 3 ops, 3 skirts, 5 tops, 2 cardigans, a winter coat and a bunch of shoes/accessories. I feel like a lot of my lolita friends buy more than me but I don't know if they're a good benchmark ( a few of them have really good jobs & wealthy parents so)
Honestly, I really wanna know where I'm at so I can set concrete goals for the knew year.

>> No.9727936

>>9727926
That depends on a lot of factors: What style do you wear? Do you buy secondhand? Where? Do you know how to look for deals or do you just buy anything you like? How much money do you make and what portion of it can you invest on lolita? You don't have to drop the exact amounts, I don't actually want to know this, but this is something to consider.
For example, I mostly wear solids, old school and classic, which is generally significantly cheaper than flavor of the month AP prints on the secondhand market; I can buy up to five dresses a month with my regular salary, sometimes more than that if I'm having a lucky streak with secondhand finds, and that exclude extra pieces like blouses and accessories that I hunt down for cheap on the regular. But like I said, it's very personal and depends on many things.

this is such a dorky question. What does it matter how fast your wardrobe grows? buy things you personally like, things that flatter and fit you, and that you'll wear. why compare your purchases to others? as long as you like what you buy and wear it, who cares? lol.

lolita is just really cute to me. it makes me feel happy and cute, which is far different to me than western fashion. I've learned to appreciate fine things in life, quality over quantity. I actually feel really calm taking care of my lolita clothing. I'm super into old school, so most of my purchases are 2nd hand, and from the early 2000s, so I need to repair and clean them well at times... and I don't know. something about seeing these beautiful, well-made items and restoring them makes me feel really good.

Lolita has also made me really aware of quality, so much that I don't even wear a lot of my normie (western goth/cyberpunk/casual black) wardrobe anymore.

So I recently sold some lolita items and one of my buyers is intentional (I'm in US). They asked before hand how much shipping would be for the item and I looked it up + tracking and gave them the estimate. They paid it but when I went to the post office and and told the postal worker I needed tracking, he said yea sure this comes with tracking for this. I filled out the customs form, paid for it and asked again "this has tracking right" and he pointed at the receipt and said "yes it's on here". I'm new to shipping internationally so I wanted to make sure. I get home to update the paypal and message the person on LM but the receipt says no tracking available to this country. What the fuck do I do? It was a lot to ship the item and for it to not come with tracking when I asked twice + looked it up. I feel like I'm an idiot but he told me I'd have tracking. What do I tell my buyer, I feel awful for fucking it up.

Okay so first off, customs number isn't the same thing as tracking number. IIRC, USPS recently changed stuff so that 1st Class International shipping no longer comes with a tracking number. So he might've been incompetent holiday help. You're probably stuck with just letting them know, and filing a complaint with the postmaster for your area. Hopefully it'll turn up in about two weeks. If you're incredibly unfortunate and it doesn't arrive in 45 days you can file a lost package claim, I believe.

Yea it has the customs number, which I'll give them since it does say their country. I didn't know that it doesn't anymore, last time I shipped internationally was over 10 years ago and I remember having tracking. The next up in shipping for priority would have been twice the price of the item I shipped. I think I should report him, he rushed me out when I asked again and kind've shoo'd me away with his hand.

I did which I guess was my mistake here.

So while I agree with the other anons that this entirely depends on your situation and is unique to everyone and has no absolute benchmark that would apply in a general sense, here are a few ways you can create goals for yourself:

- If you have a wishlist, check rarity and cost of said dresses so you have a rough idea of the numbers you'd be looking at
- Determine how long it'll take you to save up for the hardest ones to find so you can pull the trigger as soon as you find it
- Determine where the gaps in your wardrobe are and how fast you want to fill those gaps and then calculate cost and time for that
- Determine if you want to have a liquid fund for jumping on releases that may appear throughout the year
- Determine if there are meets or events where you want a particular outfit for and work backwards from there to put things together accordingly

And so on. My wardrobe jumped significantly this year simply because there were more things I found and wanted than the previous year, but it doesn't mean I want to buy at the same pace in 2018 because it's not what my wardrobe needs. Analyze your wardrobe, your own wants and needs, and work it out from there.

You might as well report him, maybe the receipt will have an employee ID? I'm sorry he was that rude. I shipped something with 1st Class this summer and it had tracking. But then I sold something else around the end of last month and the worker told me that it wasn't included anymore and I ended up footing the extra ~$14 for a tracking number :/ USPS is shit.

>>9727926
I think the suggestions in >>9728019 are really great for organizing a plan. Just never underestimate how much you're going to need staple items, especially socks. Trust me it's stressful wearing (out) the same pair of socks all the time, and boring to repeat a blouse with too many outfits.

Anyway, I haven't touched LJ since probably 2010, but I recently moved and I'm organized enough to actually do a wardrobe post. Are there other platforms where people post them? I feel like instagram would be silly because I only really follow my friends and post pictures of my cats.

I'm the anon you replied to and I like it because it's pretty. Why dont you ask normies why they like their clothes? They don't have to give you an answer about how it has a deeper meaning, so why do I?

It usually takes up to a month for YouTube to respond to your counter-strike notification, and at this point the company usually disputes your counter-notif and you have to submit it again which takes another month. I don’t know anyone who likes skirts with fully shirred waistbands. They add too much bulk and look bad when you tuck in your blouse/cutsew, but leaving it untucked only works if the blouse/cutsew is the right length and has a decorative lower edge, so the ways you can coord skirts like this are pretty limited. I don't own it but having owned several bags as a daily lolita I'd advise against this bag, at least for regular use. The lace is regular cotton lace so it may tear or get dirty, and rhinestones/metal embellishments on a purse you intend to use often are usually a bad idea; plus, it doesn't seem to be able to hold a lot, though I guess that depends on what purpose you need it for.

I just checked CDJapan, it’s SAL Parcel that got suspended. You can still use SAL Packet and SAL Registered Packet, so no worries. You can still use SAL just only two of the three versions. Hyacinth. Comedy sitcom from England about a very nosy woman. United States was able to watch it through pbs. Takes a certain kind of humor to enjoy. I didn’t care for it honestly. Found her more annoying then funny.

classism failure is best comedy. she also struggles to have a pristine reputation, and for people to be jealous of her but her sister Rose is promiscuous, her sister Violet and her husband are poor and slobbish (love them though), her dad is a war vet with dementia who is constantly reenacting his past, and the other sister is married to a crossdresser (though they have a mercedes-benz). Oh, and her son is gay and goes to school for fashion design.
She's super proud and does everything to be seen by others but her embarrassing real life constantly foils her appearances.
it's an awesome show and all the characters are great. it's been a fav for my family since I was a baby

Except there are 3 other brick and morter lolita stores in the US that also have webshops, which it is cheaper to purchase from them because you don’t have to pay tax if you are in a different state and all the stores have free shipping after a certain amount. Not to mention Lolita Collective that sells indie brands....oh and all the second hand shops and resellers in Japan, like Wunderwelt, that specifically market to the international customers. John does nothing to promote the fashion in the states, just attempts to use it as a way to line his pocket with cash. Which probably isn’t working to well since the market is already so oversaturated with diffrent companies and options people can easily turn somewhere else to get their Lolita and Jfashion fix.

I think that's something all fashion magazines have in common. With fashion there is a lot to be said as far as cultural insights, analysis etc goes but it's next to impossible to find that in an actual mag. I reckon that probably has something to do with the structure of advertising in the industry but I don't know enough about it to say with certainity. Either way it's a shame that so much goes undiscussed.

Lynda is mostly out of the picture with HH and has been for some time now. They bought out her share of the company. She's only still tangentially related to them because HH shares a storefront with AP SF, so they split the rent.

Is anybody else eyeing this lucky pack?

I think I'm gonna order it. Stupid question but do we get to pick the colorway we get or is it randomized? I like all colorways but I'd be afraid to wear black in public for fear of being likened to a playboy bunny.

Going to add that the Leighs and AM actively try to crush any 'competition' . I can't give too many details but Imo as a newbie indie designer the Leighs/AM work against the lolita community and keep lolita fashion from growing in the states. They are cancer.

Why does Japan/AP love Marie from Aristocats so much? I watched the movie for the first time the other day, and I don't understand the hype or why she has two collabs. Duchess is far cuter.

Also, Cats Don't Dance is the superior singing cat movie.

I’m trying to have less stuff and be more “minimalist” but my lolita wardrobe is giving me serious issues. I now have more lolita pieces that have never been worn than regular clothes left. It’s getting kind of ridiculous. How many white Peter Pan collar blouses do I really need, granted they might have different kinds of lace or different sleeves... even accessory wise I keep around a lot of stuff in case I want to wear it with lolita.
