Does anyone know if the Black Friday price for LM only affects the buy it now? or does the big get a discount too? I ask because I was going to purchase an item via the bid when it ended the other day, but the seller added it to the BF shit a day before it ended, thus increasing the time. I still kinda want the item I think... the main reason I've been holding off on actually placing a bid is that the shipping is pretty up there... and who knows, I might actually find something I want more by the time the auction ends, so I kinda want to keep my options open in case something like that happens.

ANYWAY, I heard the discount has to be at least 10%, but is that for the bid and buy it now? if I place a bid right now, will that bar me from getting a BF discount on bidding?

I've always wondered if Moitie's jewellery print is a Christmas print, it even comes in red or green, just add some little red accent to the green dress (or green accent to the red dress) and it'll look Christmassy. Actually, even if you don't have the Jewellery print you could probably use any other solid (wine/bordeaux) red or green and do the same.

Another option is to go the kurololita route and simply add whatever you can find that’s in theme, black and doesn’t clash. So you can add a square-ish black bag with a large bow on it (to look like a Christmas gift box), put some black star-shaped clips in your hair, etc. Just don’t go all in, keep to the simpler streamlined black gothic dresses so the “present box” bag and the star clips have a chance to stand out (they kind of get lost in the typical sweet kurololita outfit where everything else is also fluffy and has a billion bows and also hearts on them)

If you have striped stuff, you could also do something sort of Nightmare before Christmas-inspired, maybe throw together a Jack Skellington-ish coord and then add something a little Santa-ish, like some santa hat jewellery, carry a “present box” handbag.

Or, if you’re really out of ideas, I’d just go with adding something like poinsettia or holly accent (say, a hair pin, a brooch, maybe a headband) and just leave it at that.

But there are too many people who do not wear lolita in the lolita groups (not just talking about CoF and RC) and they are pretty active with commenting despite their never-ending ignorance and lack of interest in actually buying the clothes and putting them on.

That's not an issue unique to Facebook. Just look at the lolita amino group, you can't throw a cat without hitting 10 people who just lurk or try to participate without wearing the fashion. You're going to get it in any online community so long as wearing lolita isn't a requirement for entry. There is/was an adult egl animo group, and they required 3 coords from new members or they'd get kicked, but sadly that group is dead due to being so small compared to the larger lolita amino.

There are millions of people using facebook every day who are in a lot of groups they shouldn't really be in, but it's so easy and convenient to be. Normies are in book club groups even though they've never been to one of the book club meetings, weebs are in jfashion groups even though they never intend to wear it. Other (less popular) platforms have much less of that because those people don't make accounts unless all their friends are on it. Why do you think so many SJW are on tumblr, facebook, insta and snapchat but not here? I don't know about animo because I'm not a teenager but I'd much prefer a small slow-activity group over a group with people who don't know what OTT stands for.

The amount of new people flooding the fb groups is killing the vibe.Everyone asking a billion questions, people should learn to lurk more or do some research. newbies responding to newbies just propels the misinformation and lowers the quality of the content. why the sudden influx? was it the kelly eden video?

I think people like the idea of it but can’t imagine themselves wearing it on their own, or don’t know the cost/time that goes into the fashion. I had a friend bug me for ages about it, I took her to a meet, gifted her some of my older stuff, but she still complained that for her to get anything new it was too much money, and she couldn’t be bothered to read the blogs I sent her so she never really knew much about it. I think a lot of people are like that with hobbies and never properly get into it, judging by activity on other Facebook groups.

I know a few people like that too, but they never really got involved with any groups because they know it's not a serious thing for them. What I don't get is these people who can't be bothered to do any research, don't actually care about getting it right and don't want to spend any money on it at all who join communities dedicated to the hobby and then post all over even though they have no idea what they're talking about and have nothing of value to add. My local comm is currently dealing with some people who
>don't even attempt to read the community FAQ or guidebook and treat the comm like their personal Google instead
>spread bullshit rumors (did u know Japanese brands hate fat people and only make dresses with 55cm waists??) and brush off anyone who politely tries to correct them
>whine about AliExpress being too expensive and Taobao being too complicated (and don’t even mention those elitist Japanese brands!)
>ask for advice and immediately reject all of it because it's too hard/too expensive/doesn't suit their ~personal style~
>post stories and selfies that have nothing to do with lolita and then get pissy when people wonder why these were posted in a lolita group
Why are they here? Why join a group for a hobby you don't actually seem to care about and then get upset with people who do? What did they expect? With some of them I almost feel like they're so bored with their lives that they're looking for something to get indignant over and feel oppressed by. Some of the recent RC posts definitely feel like fishing for controversy, like the one about hating plus-sized people or the one about old prints supposedly being taboo. Where did they even get that from? Anyone who's been into lolita for five minutes knows that some of the most sought-after status symbol dresses are many years old.

I don't want to be that person crying about casuals, but seriously casuals gtfo!

I think it's people expecting every group (especially groups for niche interests) to basically be an all-accepting group of friends who won't reject them for the fact they don't actually participate in the hobby the group is dedicated to; for some reason they fail to grasp the concept of niche interest groups to actually be focused on said niche interest.
Every once in a while we get people who never interact with our comm loudly complain about how we're "lolitists" because our meetups have dress codes.
>i love lolita but can't wear it because it's expensive
>you only care about burando
>wah why can't i come to your meetup wearing jeans
Fuck these people, seriously.

I agree! I was just saying, for as long as I felt I couldn't afford it, I also wasn't trying to get into any coms, let alone have possibly obnoxious opinions on what other people can afford/wear because I wasn't a lolita yet, just an admirer from afar.

And about the affordable part: learning how to sew isn't that hard nor is it that expensive. You see it in the Russian coms especially in the early two thousands: very few people could afford brando straight from Japan, but they started making dresses that were such high quality they gave brands a run for their money.

People who just whine and whine that everything, every suggestion to help them ever made, is too much effort are so obnoxious I understand why that anon quit the com.

They don't consider otome a fashion style, they were going for a 'mature' lolita style and mainly featured lolita brands. Miel has a bunch of non-lolita brands too.

>> No.9698625

>>9698560

I don't know, I think it only feels like Eternita was more otome-focused because no one really knew what was in it, and girls were surprised to find stuff from Milk and Pink House, instead of the usual purely lolita brands from the GLB, so that caused a bit of a shock. Going off the photodump above, it actually looks more like Miel is carrying most of the same brands. Maybe going from Eternita to Miel is just a minor name change and not really a huge deal?

Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking -- I really dig the "adult alice" all-inclusive concept. Most of the purely lolita brands still seem to be going in an OTT direction, so it's really nice to see more wearable stuff from Milk or Pink House or Qpot, stuff that isn't a fully tricked out teaparty coord.

Most mothers don't even breastfeed anymore. Yes, maybe for the first few months but then they go straight on with formula. So that will be only a short-term issue for most.

I feel like Meta and Physical drop make a lot of maternity friendly dresses though. Lots of shirring and larger sizing. And also Excentrique and Victorian Maiden for their sack-dresses. A lot of them have front buttons, too. So these dresses definitely exist

I'm not all that into Alice myself, but it's certainly easier to explain the fashion as related to Alice in wonderland rather than trying to explain what lolita is not, especially with the Tim Burton movies doing us the favour of actually being pretty close to lolita ideals in terms of fashion and fantasy.

I wonder if we can make it catch on a tag/fashion? I mean just about everybody else is already using #eglfashion #eglcommunity instead of tagging as #lolita anyhow to avoid the weirdos and adult filters. Might as well tag it with #otonaalice or #alicekei at this rate.

I'm really more in favour of using alice kei as an umbrella term that also includes lolita rather than trying to give lolita a new name, though. It's a lot easier to say alice kei includes lolita, otome, or whatever Miel/Eternita includes, rather than try and make it a rebranding exercise for lolita alone.

What the fuck is a forest/country twist? You are so wrong. Lolita tries to imitate historical fashion eras from 1600-1900ish and shortens the skirt and adds tons of lace and frills, otome is based on 1920-60s children's clothing which may or may not use a petti but is generally much simpler in adornment, with a wider range of colors than lolita. I'm so goddamn tired of people calling otome "lolita without a petti"

If otome and lolita are "all the same thing", then why do Jane Marple, MILK, LG, etc. all refuse to be in the GLB? Why don't they do the same shitty foreign con events that lolita brands will? Because they don't consider themselves as lolita brands but rather high fashion. They don't want to be associated with lolita.

This. What we call 'otome' is just what some japanese girls wear as normal fashion and JM and LG are simply expensive fashion brands. They are no alt fashion brands. They are considered lolita by lolitas in Japan, but the brands themselves don't want to be associated with it. If you search lolita on something like wear.jp, you will find lots and lots of "otome" coords in addition to coordinates with pettis.

However, from what I understand, being an alt-fashion brand has a negative connotation and stores like JM want to be associated enough with the fashion (be promotors by mags etc) to make money, but keep themselves far enough away from the culture for plausible deniability.
