What's the best advice about cosplay and Lolita fashion that you've learned from /cgl/?

Tbh for me it's a lot of how to avoid being an Ita, and more coord related by example. What about you guys?

It's really just an 'or' or 'and' question, I'm sure they meant cosplay though.

You're correct, since cosplay is the main reason I'm here.

Give it some time, this is a relatively slow board. Threads stay in the catalog for ages.

Alrighty anon, thanks. (The truth is I'm doing this for a college project, but I frequent boards like /b/ where things get deleted fast, so I'm relatively new to this)

You’re doing a college project on 4chan...?

Yes, anon. The topic is virtual communities. I wrote an essay about /b already, so I'd like to do a project on /cgl/ and take comparative differences in mind. It sounds silly but it's actually interesting.

Aside from a lot of sewing help, on my own I learned to not take things too seriously and enjoy what I make. I was a taobao coser who'd only do flavour of the month cosplays, but now I'm making characters that I actually enjoy, even if it takes a lot of work and frustration, which has reignited my love for this hobby

Do you really think this course cares about the actual content though? This is Critical Writing... The content could be about dolphinfucker.com, and it wouldn't make a difference. It's about how I present the information, not the actual content. I don't mean to sound hostile, but that's just the reality of almost all the projects this course has assigned.

cgl likes skinny and above average tier girls who aren't well known. anyone who's well known or has efame gets nitpicked to hell and vendetta'd off the board. we used to have gulls that were efamous, but all of them got chased away.

Dude I've got a bachelors in rhetoric (ie, BSing: a degree) and there was still an expectation that you used real methods to support your argument. Writing about 4chan is fine, but if one of my proffessors thought it was okay to allow students to "survey" like 8 random people on the Internet and present it as any sort of data I'd really have to question the quality of the education I was recieving

>> No.9692491

>>9692486
Well it isn't about data. It's more about the quality of the writing... It isn't a survey. This is just about getting content to write about.

>> No.9692519

>>9692491
I... do you know what rhetoric is?

>> No.9692535

/cgl/ is an awful place to go for community opinions because there is not a cohesive community here. You got the actual cosplayers that will lurk in the advice and WIP threads. You got the Lolitas that will stick to their threads. Then there's the con-goers who don't cosplay who really don't have any other home on 4chan. You also have the social rejects from /soc/ /r9k/ and /b/ that will come and make their incel threads. Then there are the people who just use cosplay as fap material. The bad cosplay threads have really just become nitpicks and vendettas as opposed to truly cringe worthy why-would-you-do-that costumes. The only reason I post here is because I prefer it over the other never say anything bad cosplay forums.

I wouldn't say /cgl/ "taught" me anything other than drove home some of the basics. Learn to style your wig. Shave your facial hair. Wear appropriate shoes. Iron your costume. Stuff that you might think "it will be fine" really makes your costume just look sloppy.

Yes, but this isn't a high level rhetoric course... That's the point you're missing. This is Critical Writing 120, simply the advanced version of the English course everyone needs to take by default...

>> No.9692561

>>9692535
Well that's the point of the project... I'm describing how the lack of cohesion makes it appealing and let's its positive sides flow through...

I doubt OP's finished paper will be as interesting as the one the EU commissioned on /pol/.
