What's your favourite thing in your wardrobe? Doesn't have to be anything special to anyone else, just something that's special to you.

My IW book purse.

While it wasn't the first brand thing I ever owned, I felt like a "real lolita" for the first time when I wore it. Maybe because it was such a common accessory for efamous lolitas at the time? I don't know.

Anyways, it still gives me the warm fuzzies and it goes with just about everything I own.

Pic related. There's something about Baby's giant, gaudy crown jewelry that I absolutely love to the point where I have to convince myself to stop buying more.

EGL and DL archive anon here.
Almost done saving all of 2007 on Daily Lolita on pinterest. I did as much as I could with all the deleted pics due to deleted accounts and image host services being dead/changing the way they work/... (fuck photobucket) I just didn't include pics that were too tiny, barely/not lolita (or some variation of it like ouji/kodona,FK,...).

What would you want me to archive for EGL?

Hi anon, I'm studying to be an archivist as well but I honestly really want some actual real-world practice. If you ever need help I'd really appreciate it if you could contact me at my throwaway email even though I don't have a lot of experience. If you got it covered do you mind if you could recommend some readings or things I could do to become more comfortable with archiving programs?

I have a weird situation. I thought I was falling out of love with Lolita as a whole, but I think I actually just don't like petticoats anymore. I like literally everything else about the aesthetic, but for some reason petticoats and big poofy skirts aren't appealing to me as much any more. I go for very low poof and even high-waisted dresses with no petti more than anything else. I don't call it Lolita when I do that, just in case someone gets buttmad.

Is this very weird? Anyone else do this?

my wardrobe is pretty tiny and this picture was swiped from google and isn't mine, but this baby blouse is probably my favorite item I own. I love everything I have, but for some reason I just.. this blouse is so precious to me. Actually 2 of my baby blouses are the best, the other being my oldschool baby babydoll blouse. I've considered buying one of the currently produced babydoll blouses but they aren't really the same to me for small reasons.

I came here to complain about something That I can't quite explain.

There's this girl in my comm that bought a load of dresses from Taobao from brands like Yolanda, Vcastle, Diamond Honey, souffle song etc. But she bought it all to resell with stupidly high prices and decided to rename the dresses with made up names. Now she sells:
> black happy pumpkin OP
> Chocolate is so delicious JSK
> Under the Sea Skirt

This makes me so mad and I don't even know why. I just feel like she knows nothing about the fashion and acts like an "intruder" to make money put of noobs.

Disagree - I love a lot of these, it actually gives the impression that lolita can be worn as a day to day thing rather than getting all done-up for a special event.

I actually really love natural hair in lolita, as long as something is done with it and it looks nice. Sadly, i'm super hypothyroid and have shitty hair, so I feel I have to wear a wig or I just look like a thin-haired freak. makes me so sad. Thanks for all these great pictures. All of my wardrobe is fairly old, so I tend to get really excited seeing old school lolitas. Gives me new inspiration and renews my love of the fashion. I recently looked through scans of all the GLB and felt the same sort of happiness I felt when I first found lolita.

I do occasionally find newer dresses that are pretty, but nothing really draws me in like the older lolita aesthetic.

I know some people bitched about the pic spam, but I think it's great.

I noticed a dress I liked on LM & the listing was expiring quite soon, I asked the seller a few questions about shipping/sizing hoping she would reply before the end of the listing, she hasn't though. Would it be rude to message her and ask whether she would be relisting it? That was a few days ago & LM says she's seen my messages.

Because this is the lolita general and not the "archived image dump" thread. I get what you're doing, I appreciate it, I've saved a lot of these images, but at the same time it seems even more newfag to not recognize when something warrants its own thread and detracts from the purpose of one thread. By this point, the thread only becomes about these images because other messages get easily lost under them. Plus - they would stay on the board longer if they were in their own thread instead of one of the faster moving threads on this board. At this rate, the images you're taking all this time to dump will just make the thread hit the bump limit and die by today - rather than if you just made your own thread exclusively to discuss and dump these images and it'd probably last a few days on its own.

This isn't a lolita general anymore. This is like on old /a/ when people (fuck you Tohno-chan and crew) used to just image bomb threads with the purpose of killing them, even if they were with relevant images. It's nice, and the people in the thread definitely appreciate the images, but the thread isn't really supposed to be an image dump.

Just my two cents on it, I guess. I still appreciate you dumping all these old images and thank you for going through the time to even dig them all up, but I feel this would definitely have been better for all parties, yourself included (since all the time and effort you're putting into uploading these will allow more people to see) if you just did this in your own separate thread. Hell, we have Oldschool threads all the time, it wouldn't even be out of place.

Wearing modern lolita makes me feel pretty overdone. it feels more like a costume, and isn't nearly as practical in general than old school. Old school actually looks pretty great on me and it's super easy to wear to work and school.

I think old school can look just as good on anyone as modern lolita. Just take care of yourself and make sure You look good and you won't look frumpy. Wash your face and hair, do your makeup, style your hair, make sure your clothes fit. It's easy.

The simpler hairstyling and minimal accessories and makeup makes it all feel so much more accessible, more like street fashion and less like it was just put together for a photoshoot. Now (at least in my comm) it's all circle lenses, false lashes and obvious wigs and people act like the meet is a waste of time if they didn't get a social media-worthy picture of their coord. Maybe this is just nostalgia glasses on my part though - I was still in school around ~2007 and everything from back then feels happier, warmer and more comfortable.

I'd probably sew up some frilly dresses for her but I don't think they'd be recognisable as lolita more than just cute frilly little girl dresses. Even if I were to make matching mommy-daughter outfits I think people would think I dressed myself to match her rather than the other way around.

Even normies tend to like what I wear (I wear lolita daily, to work and school, which also means wearing it to and from those places, and in other places aka shopping, etc). I should have picked my words more carefully, as I honestly do not think lolita IS a costume, no matter how OTT it is. To me it just feels like more of a costume. On myself. >The dresses look great in my closet, and I still like most other people's coords. I just find that whenever I wear lolita or even cute clothes I look like a weird fat crazy person.

Honestly this sounds more like you’ve lost yourself, and you don’t really know what you actually want to wear or what looks good on you. Probably worth taking a step back from lolita to really figure out who you are and what you actually enjoy wearing. Maybe start with photos of yourself, not a pinterest board of other people. Try to figure out what suits your own body shape, your skintone, what colours and styles you actually like having ON you instead of what you like looking at on other people.

You can learn to appreciate things that look nice without wanting to be/own/wear them. Barbies are nice, but I wouldn’t want to be one, my feet would die, and so would my waist. You can like the way other people look in lolita without wanting to wear it yourself (conversely, also acknowledge that just because you don’t want to wear it doesn’t mean it doesn’t look good).

Once you’ve sorted out who/what style you are, it’ll be easier to decide what to do with your lolita. If you really don’t enjoy it anymore, just sell it all off. If you only like the meetups, sell it off but keep one or two outfits just for those 3 meetups a year (cycle out one old outfit for a new one every year if you’re worried about only having one/two outfits). There’s a lot of substyles in lolita, peter pan collars and shoes with bows can be avoided entirely, and even puffed sleeves aren’t mandatory (if you do lace skivvies, cutsews or knit boleros). But definitely come back after you’ve figured out yourself, so you don’t get lost looking at what it looks like on other people, not yourself.

I feel like they are somewhat basic like ETC or Leur Getter but they don't have as nice fabric and they always use the same cuts for their dresses which is kind of boring. Only buy from them if you are into the basic otome style or if it's okay to pay a little more for supporting western brands. They are definitely one of the better western indie brands though.

She organized the Kawaii Weekend, but the second edition got canceled because of low ticket sales or money issues. People were being mean on CGL, she got upset and left the comm. I believe there also was some other drama, but I wasn’t very active in the comm at that time, so I can’t give all the deets.
You should browse through archives of the Lolita comm thread for more info.

What happened to MBok? Did Mercari’s popularity take all the sellers away? No one is listing new items, and the items that are on it won’t sell.

thanks, anon. I'll have a think about if it's worth the price or not but it's nice to know their quality is consistent at least.
